I’ve heard alot of good questions regarding the Presidents birth certificate and they go unanswered. As far as I know Bill O’Reilly goes on TV and says it’s a non-issue and that’s all the public requires to let it go.

Why not just present the birth certificate?

And one’s place of birth will affect one’s political decisions? What nonsense! Some people need to get a hobby or something.

I found it interesting that when you go to the State of Hawaii Vital Statistics site to look for a certificate, the first thing you encounter is a Certificate of Live Birth, which the site says is used for pretty much everything “Certified copies of these records may be issued to authorized individuals and used for such diverse purposes as school entry, passports, Social Security participation, driver’s licenses, employment, sports participation, survivor’s benefits, proof of property rights, and other needs.”

If you can use a Certificate of Live birth to obtain a US passport, doesn’t that make the document just as valid as a Birth Certificate? In fact, you have to dig deep on the site to actually come up with a Birth Certificate.

Forgive me, I thought spending all the time and money in numerous courts battles was wasteful. It made more sense to simply produce the birth certificate. Don’t worry, lot’s of your fellow citizens have made a hobby of looking for employment.

To be honest, as an outsider, this just looks like an attempt to smear Obama’s name, especially as the ones who are getting riled about this are Republicans anyway. And there’s no such thing as clean tactics when it comes to politics.

You have defined American politics as usual and American culture at large…step over and destroy your opponent and kick him when he is down. Why anyone thinks America is still a Christian country escapes me.

This, coupled with the fact that almost 50% of Americans think he’s Muslim, is an almost laughable attempt to smear the President to me, an outsider.

I heard 1 in 3. I’d actually believe its more likely that his birth certificate indicates Muslim as religion than the idea that it does not exist.
The only reason people are concerned over the birth certificate it the natural born citizen requirement of the U.S. Presidency. But I* think *even John McCain was born out of the U.S… This is obviously allowable, as is being born Muslim. So who knows.

Not to the “birthers.” They know more than the State Dept., the Hawaii vital records people, and two Hawaii governors (one of them a Republican). They also know more than the intelligence agencies (the real ones, not the pratfall front guys) and the military who handed the nuclear keys to the President.

A certificate of live birth legally IS a birth certificate. It just has a slightly different name printed at the top. My birth certificate issued by the State of Pennsylvania also doesn’t have the title “Birth Certificate” printed at the top. In fact I bet many of the people in this topic don’t have something titled as a “Birth Certificate.”

The question is not about being an American citizen. A naturalized American has a US passport.

The Constitution requires the President to be born an American citizen.

Agreed, but better you say it than me. If I went that far and said that, I would have been told that I was from a socialist country so of course I did not realise just how important these laws are for maintaining the country as a democracy.

You leveled this charge on another thread. Presidential candidates have had their citizenship challenged, including white candidates. Indeed, most challenges have been against white candidates.

BTW, was there a challenge to Jesse Jackson’s citizenship in any of his runs? Here’s an interesting article on black candidates:

How many had their citizenship challenged? If it is racism, surely you would have seen attempts in these campaigns.

Rather, you seem to be trying to disparage all birthers as racists, when in reality some racists are birthers. Your attempts to characterize all who think Obama might not be a citizen because of the nationality of his father as racists is ridiculous.

You need to stop this like of “reasoning” and withdraw the accusation.

This entire BC issue is playing into his hands–it takes the focus off Obamacare and other issues that can cause him real trouble with getting re-elected.
