Which is better: Mormonism or Islam? And why?
If you had a “reading Shakespeare trumps religion” option, I’d vote. As of now, I abstain.Which is better: Mormonism or Islam? And why?
I don’t know that that’s true, really. Though I do see the point you’re trying to make. For me a religion is just as good as the kind of communities it produce. And obviously mormon communities are way better than muslim communities. Mormon communities are more tolerant and more progressive than muslim ones. I vote for the LDS.
“neither” is the same as “the same”.One response was missing…NEITHER!!!
Mom of 5
What kinds of biases and prejudices do mormon communities have? And how strong are these biases?I think both Mormons and Muslims have a long way to go toward tolerance of other people.
Sorry. I just got back from Friday prayers at the local masjid. I stopped short of converting, but it was as interesting as my recent visit to a Catholic Easter Mass, in its own way.Anybody?![]()
Hmmm, pretty poor comparison…Back to the topic, I think from God’s perspective (assuming there might be such a character) the idea of Mormonism being “better” than Islam is on the same level as Chinese food being better than Italian, or Toyota being better than Mazda.
Better? Who knows.Which is better: Mormonism or Islam? And why?
None.Which is better: Mormonism or Islam? And why?
The AC/DC thing made me laugh, in high school I hung out with a garage band group. They weren’t impressed with people who listened to AC/DC either. They were more Pink Floyd Van Halen people(you probably would have hated them tooIn answer to your question: my generation hated the FLDS types (the polygamists, who dress like every day is a square dance) the most fervently. This was followed closely by Roman Catholics, Freemasons, people who listened to AC/DC
What’s wrong with AC/DC?Sorry. I just got back from Friday prayers at the local masjid. I stopped short of converting, but it was as interesting as my recent visit to a Catholic Easter Mass, in its own way.
In answer to your question: my generation hated the FLDS types (the polygamists, who dress like every day is a square dance) the most fervently. This was followed closely by Roman Catholics, Freemasons, people who listened to AC/DC, and well, anyone who was outwardly different.
I grew up in the 1980s and early 1990s. It’d be interesting to talk to the Mormons growing up today and see if this has changed, and how much.

I have kids who occasionally disagree. None has yet been stupid enough to excuse their fights with the notion that I like one better than his or her opponent. If anyone in my house ever was so shortsighted, it’d just be motivation to lengthen the period spent contemplating the world quietly in the time out chair. They seem to know this instinctively. Too bad so many adults can’t grasp the concept.
Actually, both are non-Christian faiths started by self-proclaimed prophets and I wouldn’t consider one to be better than the other. If you think Mormonism is Christian, you seriously need to learn some basics of the cosmology. In a broad sense, Islam could actually be seen as closer. By the way, that’s not a criticism of either faith or their followers. I have not known near as many Moslems as I have Mormons, but those that I have known (and do know) are nowhere near as arrogant and standoffish as the Mormons. Of course I know Mormons who are totally cool, accepting, and regular people, but that has been the exception. On the other hand, ALL of the Moslems I have known fall into that category and their overall deportment leaves me with a MUCH better impression. On a personal level, I have never had a negative experience with a Moslem; here or even when traveling in Moslem countries. I think they all get a bad rep based the activities of a small, albeit very visible, minority of (largely) politically motivated nut-jobs. Based on my personal experience, I’d much rather have a Muslim neighbor than a Mormon neighbor. Why ask such a question on a Christian web page. Comparing a christian group to Islam. Only here will you find such insulting and attacking Threads. Does Dogma allow for these sort of personal attacks. I am not now nor never will be a member of the LDS. However I have met several very kind Memebers of the LDS. I have welcomed them in my home and discussed Christian values. I will say their Remarks of others are far more respectfull than some remarks you will hear from those of you who attack them. WWJD ??
I think I’d rather prefer being shot.I have a question for you, Agnostheist:
Which would you rather have done? Be shot in your right foot or drop an anvil on your left foot?
Either way it’s too bad for you.
Mormonism = getting a hole in your foot? The same applies both to Mormonoidism and Mahometanism.
