As has been so often stated on this forum, we should not judge a religion on the adherents of that faith and we should not judge the religion on the actions of nations claiming to be that religion. The only way to judge a religion if by it’s teachings. But who decides what are the true teachings of that religion?
The Quran has been interpreted in different ways. On one hand you have those who claim Islam is a peaceful religion and on the other hand you have Muslims murdering in the name of Allah. Which way reflects the true teachings of Islam?
I know a Muslim will be quick to point out that the Bible can be interpreted in different ways as well. I do not dispute this. All Christian faiths are either those that broke away from the Catholic faith or are versions of a denomination that broke away from the Catholic faith. As such I believe the Catholic faith to be the rightful heir to the true teachings of Christ and as such the true teachings of Christianity.
Which is the true Islam? The peaceful Islam or the Islam that will use force and violence to see the world Muslim? Which Islam posses the true teachings of Mohammed?
