As has been so often stated on this forum, we should not judge a religion on the adherents of that faith and we should not judge the religion on the actions of nations claiming to be that religion. The only way to judge a religion if by it’s teachings. But who decides what are the true teachings of that religion?

The Quran has been interpreted in different ways. On one hand you have those who claim Islam is a peaceful religion and on the other hand you have Muslims murdering in the name of Allah. Which way reflects the true teachings of Islam?

I know a Muslim will be quick to point out that the Bible can be interpreted in different ways as well. I do not dispute this. All Christian faiths are either those that broke away from the Catholic faith or are versions of a denomination that broke away from the Catholic faith. As such I believe the Catholic faith to be the rightful heir to the true teachings of Christ and as such the true teachings of Christianity.

Which is the true Islam? The peaceful Islam or the Islam that will use force and violence to see the world Muslim? Which Islam posses the true teachings of Mohammed?

You think they need some sort of pope figure? Then on second thought, the idea of all Islam under one leader terrifies me.

Hmm they had the Caliphate. And some of the Popes weren’t all that good either.

I don’t believe that Islam is the true religion. Therefore it is meaningless for me to ask “which is the true Islam?”

You are presumably not a Muslim. So how could you ask such a question? There is no such thing as a “true” version of any religion but the true religion (though there are truer and falser versions of every religion–in relationship to the ultimate Truth and not to any ideal form of the specific religion in question). Take away the question of ultimate Truth and there are only various historical forms of a religion, none truer or falser than any other.

Hi George how did Muhammad understand the Koran? One need only look at his actions to judge.

I would think Mohammed would be the key to understanding the true teachings of Islam. But how should we, in your opinion, view the varing interpretations of Mohammed’s actions? As they differ how are we to know which version is correct? Who do we look to to tell us his true teachings as an accurate portrial of his historical actions? Thoughts?

They may have many sects but when they deal witn infidel, they are one voice. So its hard for me to say which is true Islam as all of them are fake and manmade.

I totally agree. Well stated.

father cest, are you a priest that serve the church or what? if yes, have you been to islamic country to do your service there?

This thread has gotten out of control a bit. It is suppose to discuss which sect of Islam is the correct form and why. This isn’t about wheather or not there should be a Pope in Islam. If you want to discuss that start a new thread.
