Thanks Bob for the timeline.

Am I reading correctly that 2 of the Seals were killed about 7 hours after the State Department was told that the Consulate was under attack?
Yes-and about 30 minutes after they first floated the “video” story. So why are Obama and Clinton so concerned about explaining the "cause’ of the attack while the attack is still going on?!

I’ll be more than happy to go back over the discussion of the attack being spontaneous or planned. Please feel free to review my several posts discussing why it wasn’t spontaneous and provide your counter points.
This is a fairly reliable source which states that the attackers “joined” hundreds of demonstrators and “armed men “infiltrated” the protest”:
The assault on the consulate started sometime between 10:30 and 11 p.m., and the two groups traded fire, Abdelhakim said.
Benghazi residents said the compound had never previously had a major security presence around it.
Libyan Deputy Interior Minister Wanis al-Sharif said the security force was outgunned by the attackers, who joined a demonstration of “hundreds” of people outside the consulate
. He said the original demonstration, which began as early as noon and escalated during the evening, was apparently called to protest the offensive film.

Sharif said armed men “infiltrated” the protest, but that the Libyan government did not believe they were Islamist militants. Instead, he said, authorities suspect they were loyalists of slain former strongman Moammar Gaddafi who were out to upend the country’s fragile political situation.

“We are going through a war with people from the old regime who are trying to destabilize security,” Sharif said. He also said the Libyan government believes that the first shot came from within the consulate compound, enraging the crowd. And he complained that the consulate should have extracted its employees earlier in the day and taken them to hotels or another secure location for safety.
Sharif said the consulate was completely burned and looted. “The most we expected was taking down the American flag and burning it,” he said. “We didn’t expect what happened to take place.”

We now know that depiction is incorrect. There were no protesters on the streets before the attack on the Consulate began that night, there was no video.

from the article, which is dated 9/12/12:

Today the Senate Intelligence Committee released a stinging report on the Benghazi consulate attack. The report confirms there were no protests outside the consulate on the night of the attack.
Via Page 33 of the Senate report:
benghazi protest

The US captured the attacks on video – there were no protests:
Code:
Other reporting indicated there were no protests. For example the lC obtained closed circuit television video from the Mission facility and there were credible eyewitness statements of U.S. personnel on the ground that night, which the FBI began to collect from interviewing survivors starting on September 15, 2012, in Ramstein Air Base, Germany.

The IC also had information that there were no protests outside the Temporary Mission Facility prior to the attacks.

How did they find out about the video?

Agreed.

What I wanted to point out, though, is people who quote Clinton’s words are often characterized as leaving out the rest of her statement, and are thus painted as distorting her words.

The point is, we are not accusing Hillary as saying, who cares, they’re dead.
For a while I thought I wasn’t going to have to repeat this:
“With all due respect, the fact is we had four dead Americans,” she said. “Was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk one night and decided they’d go kill some Americans? What difference, at this point, does it make? It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again, Senator.”
That quote above contains the missing conclusion of Hilary’s infamous comment which imvho HAS been DELIBERATELY misconstrued by some of the news media …
She’s obviously frustrated imvho with folks dwelling on her idea of insignificant details and more concerned with preventing a repeat performance;

Although, I admit that it is important in order to prevent a repeat to know how/why it happened in the first place;
So yes, although I deny that she doesn’t care, she did make a dumb comment imvho.

So since they haven’t figured out what happened its time for a select committee, wouldn’t you agree?

Uh, isn’t the broader picture that the USA erased a perfectly USA-compatible dictator in Muammar Ghadafi (tamed down by Reagan’s bombing of his family compound) to emplace the infamous NAZI allies, the Muslim Brotherhood, as the nation-building regime governing the USA did in Egypt? :confused: Muslim Spring or “Springtime for Hitler”?

We now know that depiction is incorrect. There were no protesters on the streets before the attack on the Consulate began that night, there was no video.

from the article, which is dated 9/12/12:
According to the Washington Post Link I provided previously, there were demonstrations and protests infiltrated by armed terrorist jihadists around noon;
Whereas, your statement is: “There were no protesters on the streets before the attack on the Consulate began that night”;
And the Benghazi terrorist attack wasn’t started until about 9:40 pm Benghazi time according to my research;

So I have to say that it seems to me that uninterested folks would automatically vacate the streets as soon as they realized armed men were among them and it wouldn’t be so long or difficult to block all the streets leading to the consulate with heavy weapons mounted trucks in a couple of hours.

Anyway, I still think this is all opinion and the scene I just described still lends to the idea that an earlier protest could have seemed to evolve into a seemingly “spontaneous terrorist attack” with the impression that protesters suddenly became terrorist jihadists with weapons;
And that’s about the story given by Susan Rice in the video that follows except she claims the protests in Cairo caused protests to start up in Benghazi
And then from there the story is as I described it above:

PS:
Also another thought crossed my mind about this and it again depends on you folks realizing that the protests world wide over the Muslim film were serious with violence occurring at several embassies;
So which one gets immediate White House attention?

That’s why there are organizations like “FEST” and “FEMA”
remember when Bush had to go personally allocate $100 billion because his “FEMA” guy messed up or;
That is, became the goat. 🤷

This puzzles me even more than all the incompetent U.S. actions later, and even the Behghazi lie told to the public and the coverup still going on.

Why, exactly, did Obama perceive it to be in this country’s interests to hand half or more of Libya over to Islamist radicals? He had to know. Even the media at the time talked about how scary and radical some of those rebels were. Was this all part of a misguided foreign policy that has now handed the Middle East and North Africa over to a Sunni/Shiite war, a contest between “Persian imperialism” and “Caliphate builders”, but the reality of which no one seems to want to acknowledge? Did Obama actually think somehow he was improving the world and our position in it by supporting such a thing? Does he think western influence in the world is worse than Islamic radicalism? His every action in the region seems almost to shout it, but nobody seems to notice. Is it too terrible to face? Are we all in a “Stockholm Syndrome a beaucoup?”

And what a silliness was “leading from behind”? It was an almost totally American show, and did Obama really think he could fool everbody into thinking he had not unilaterally declared war on a nation with which we were at peace, and without so much as a vote in Congress?

Is our foreign policy really that bad? What analysis underlies things like that? What is the underlying belief system guiding it?

No, I don’t minimize lying to the American people about it. And yes, I do have concern that the story line almost seemed to be a “twofer”; deceive the voters, but also suppress any kind of negative expression about Islam by jailing and blaming death and destruction on some goofy Copt immigrant in California whose film almost nobody has ever seen?

But to me, the scariest part of it is the seeming willingness to hand over a very important segment of the world to some of the worst people on it.

Please don’t post a link to that video in my thread. 😛

So we now have-
-the group who under took the attack reported (I believe you are the one who mentioned this earlier in the thread) to have been trying to incite the populace in the area into a protest
-your above article which shows the attack forces arriving and staging prior to the attack and using the protest which they started as cover to get as close as possible to the target before launching the attack
-and all the other items I have mentioned in previous posts

Now how exactly was this attack spontaneous? It looks to me as a rather thought out preplanned operation. A spontaneous attack would-
-start off as a protest then escalate into a general attack from individuals within the mob
-start off with small arms fire with the heavy weapon systems and man portable anti-tank systems being used well after the attack is underway and without much initial coordination
-start off from one general avenue of attack and then spread around the target (not start off with attack forces coming from several different avenues of attack)
-the streets only cordoned off after the protest has already begun to escalate, (not, as reported, one of the first things the protestors do)
-result in general looting and destruction once the perimeter is breached (which is not what occurred)

Apparently, Trey Gowdy may have received death threats

ijreview.com/2014/05/136146-capitol-police-investigating-threats-trey-gowdy/#!
The U.S. Capitol Police have launched an investigation into at least two threatening emails against Trey Gowdy (R-SC), the newly announced head of the Benghazi special committee.
On Tuesday, POLITICO and other news outlets received emails warning that Gowdy would be harmed as a result of his pending role of leading the investigation over the 2012 Benghazi embassy attacks. The details of the emails were not released, and the Capitol Police would only confirm an active, open investigation
