It is obvious that one the attack got under way the White House was much more concerned with limiting political damage that they were protecting our people.That is what this scandal is all about.

I want to know the whereabouts and actions (or inactions) of everyone involved that night, including Clinton and Obama. Who concocted the video and “demonstration” lies, which Obama continued to spout at the U.N. two weeks after the deaths? Also, the families of the dead deserve to know why security was denied to the consulate for six months leading to 9/11. Even more interestingly, why was America shipping armaments to Al-Qaeda in LIbya? Rob :confused:
Again, this is a little of a mind bender, but you must understand that it was ~9:45 pm Thursday 9/11/2012 in Benghazi when the first attack occurred;
And it’s 6 hours earlier in Washington;
So please understand that Hilary called at ~2:00 am Benghazi time to hear that Chris Stevens was dead;

However, I’m also trying to say that at about 7:00 pm Washington time Obama was on the phone with the Israeli leader for about an hour after having met with the Vice President and the secretary of defense about Benghazi at ~5:00 pm Washington time or 11:00 pm Benghazi time;
But you also have to understand that the events in Benghazi seemed to have been concluded by ~6:00 pm Washington time;
So imho Obama may very well have decided to move on to other business:

At 3:40 p.m. Washington time on Sept. 11, 2012, U.S. ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens in Benghazi called his No. 2 man, Greg Hicks, and told him, “We’re under attack.”
(All times cited will be EDT, six hours earlier than Libyan time).
At 4:05 p.m. the State Department Operations Center issued an alert to all relevant agencies, “U.S. Diplomatic Mission in Benghazi Under Attack.”
At 4:25 p.m. a six-member CIA team headed by Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods arrived at Stevens’ compound from the nearby annex.
Under heavy fire, Woods’ team recovered the body of Foreign Service IT specialist Sean Smith but could not find Stevens’ body in the burning building.
At 5 p.m. President Barack Obama had a pre-scheduled meeting with Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, who briefed him on the Benghazi situation.
At 6 p.m. Woods and his CIA team arrived back at the annex, which they would defend Alamo-style for the next six hours. They would kill an estimated 60 Libyans before the night was through.
At 6:07 p.m. the State Department Operations Center shared a report from the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli that Ansar al-Sharia had claimed responsibility for the Benghazi attack. The terror group also called for an attack on the Embassy in Tripoli.

PS:
After all is said and done, I’ve stumbled upon a combination of red tape which I suspected as cause of possible inaction and for want of a better terminology, Muslim bureaucracy
it seems that a possible reason for lack of security at Benghazi was because special forces in Libya needed “diplomatic immunity” to avoid being attacked;

And it seems that the mission of the special forces in Benghazi was in the process of being changed from protecting the US Embassy and its personnel to training Libyan forces.
Please read all of the following, but even some finger pointing seems to have been at Chris Stevens for declining offers of special forces from General Ham on two occasions because of this lack of diplomatic immunity problem;

And then a request from Chris Stevens for special forces was declined by State Department Undersecretary Patrick Kennedy because he preferred to hire Libyan guards:
Chris wanted the decision postponed but could not say so directly. Chris had requested on July 9 by cable that Washington provide a minimum of 13 American security professionals for Libya over and above the diplomatic security complement of eight assigned to Tripoli and Benghazi. On July 11, the Defense Department, apparently in response to Chris’s request, offered to extend the special forces mission to protect the U.S. Embassy.
However, on July 13, State Department Undersecretary Patrick Kennedy refused the Defense Department offer and thus Chris’s July 9 request. His rationale was that Libyan guards would be hired to take over this responsibility. Because of Mr. Kennedy’s refusal, Chris had to use diplomatic language at the video conference, such as expressing “reservations” about the transfer of authority.

The point is that as I suspected the “cavalry” expected by Gregory Hicks in our 21st century not only encountered bureaucratic red tape
But apparently even seems to have run into a “stand down” order due to this lack of “diplomatic immunity”. 🤷

I’m sick of reading the twisted, distorted and opinionated comments coming from some news sources.
I am sick of the twisted, distorted version of Benghazi put out by the Obama administration trying to cover their tail and protect themselves politically. They lied about the cause of the attack for political reasons - the attack if planned represented a threat to the myth that Obama had Al Qaeda on the run and that his foreign policy in the Mideast was a success. It also threatened his re-election. So they fabricated a story about a video. He should be impeached

Obviously, Ish, these tactics work with some. I am sure that Barack and Hillary are eager to testify so the matter finally can be put to rest. 😉

Okay, I’ve had it …
I may even start my own religion after this … 😛
can’t believe I’m struggling to find the facts about Benghazi and just keep running into Al Qaeda.
Get over it please because Ansar al Sharia made the Benghazi attack …
certainly I’m sure they know each other and may even be friendly, but to my knowledge Ben Laden is dead even though Al Qaeda lives on and is helping kill Christians in Syria.

However, I’ll even go as far to say that I’ve even come to understand why there’s been such a fuss about whether Benghazi was spontaneous or planned …
Imvho, it’s even possible because of the almost worldwide demonstrations over the Muslim video that Hilary Clinton really did think that Benghazi was just another demonstration until she realized that Chris Stevens was dead.

It’s still a big world folks with lots of things going on all over it.
Which is more important, war with Korea, war with China, war with Russia or the spilled milk in Benghazi?

Could be running arms to the Syrian Rebels, that’s probably it, our great friends.

I’ve had it too, TaurusRex . Had it with the complete lack of accountability in the Obama administration on the Benghazi issue. The lies, deceit, obfuscations of the truth. You might think its a small matter, but lying about something as serious as what led to an ambassador getting killed is impeachable. Something tells me that if a Republican had presided over Benghazi you wouldn’t quite be calling it “spilled milk” ? Obama and his regime ignored reports coming from top diplomats and intelligence officers in Libya that attacks were part of a planned assault by al Qaeda affiliated terrorists. They ignored this to protect Obama’s re-election. This is a shameful administration and I truly don’t understand the desire of some to defend them - except perhaps due to a partisan “circle the wagons” mentality.

There are “lots of things going on” in the world - the sooner we get a president who is honorable the better.

Excellent point estesbob.

I agree 100% with your posts also ishii.
Honorable is a good word to describe what we need in the White House. The Obama administration tries to act honorable but it is all for show. When I think of how they went to the airport to meet the bodies of the 4 men killed I think how disingenuous they were. They did not try to rescue these 4 men and then were prepared to lie about the circumstances surrounding the attack and the deaths.

Ishii,
please believe me that I don’t buy into conspiracy theories then or now, but you’ve aroused my indignation (especially with your “spilled milk” sarcasm);
So just to show you that I can also skin a cat when the need arises, I’m going to throw some ideas of other folks at you that you may or may not consider equally reprehensible.

Firstly, here’s an article about conspiracy theories pertaining to the WTC where 2996 folks (young and old) including the Pentagon deaths, that is, met their violent deaths;
And I’ve quoted one theory because I did recall it at the time and I have to admit that it is quite odd and suspicious:
  1. Jewish People Knew Attack Was Going To Happen, Took Off Work On September 11th
Theorists noticed that 4,000 Jewish employees took off from work on September 11, 2001. Some of the first people to record the attacks on camera were Jewish also. Many became suspicious of there actions and put them on the radar as suspects in the wake of the attack.

If I’m not mistaken, several of the victims bodies were pulverized to dust and not recovered
And several victims jumped to their deaths instead of being burned to death.
Does our Catholic faith really condemn those poor souls for having committed suicide?

Second, here’s a thought that just crossed my mine so I searched it and found this that follows:
cnn.com/2013/03/19/opinion/iraq-war-oil-juhasz/index.html

Why the war in Iraq was fought for Big Oil
From ExxonMobil and Chevron to BP and Shell, the West’s largest oil companies have set up shop in Iraq. So have a slew of American oil service companies, including Halliburton, the Texas-based firm Dick Cheney ran before becoming George W. Bush’s running mate in 2000.

In the Iraq war 4,488 Americans were killed and 32,222 were wounded.

In Afghanistan 2,229 Americans were killed and 18,675 were wounded …
(not too bad compared to Vietnam though (I guess? 🤷 )).

I am sorry TaurusRex but I have a better use of my time than trying to figure out the reasoning behind your posts.

Oops 😊
Did I go off topic for you?
You had plenty of stones to throw at the Obama administration before my last post…
no comment about episodes a lot more suspicious than Benghazi during the Bush years?

  1. Nobody has suggested any “conspiracy theories”
  2. Bush has been out of office 6 years.It is more than tiresome that Obama apologists continue to invoke Bush everytime Obama is criticized.
At the core of the Benghazi scandal is a President who’s primary concern when learning of an ongoing attack on US citizens was how to keep himself from being hurt politically. Then he and his staff lied about it repeatedly.

In other words, they lied to protect their re-election chances.

Ishii
It’s worse than that.While the attack was still ongoing they were more concerned with containing the political fallout than they were protecting the people under attack.

-The administration didn’t want it to be a planned attacked because that would run counter to its version of what was going on internally in Libya
-There is a big difference between what the administration has been saying about the cause of the attack (it was due to the video) and your above (it could have been due to the video, they thought it was due to the video). The administration continued to push “it was the video” well after it was shown not to be the cause instead of coming out and saying “we thought it was because of the video, we misread the situation, we were wrong.”
-As estes pointed out, the administration was more concerned about controlling the political fallout for the attack than dealing with the situation. That’s like filling out your insurance claim before you actually put out the fire that is burning your house down.

Tu quoque. You would rather discuss 9-11 conspiracy theories, Iraq war, Afghanistan war, Vietnam war (:eek:) than deal with the issue at hand: :hmmm:

And FDR knew about Pearl Harbor attack beforehand, blah blah blah… therefore we have to let Obama off the hook for lying about the cause of the attack on Benghazi compound.
