We don’t know who gave the stand down order
This is at least the 4th time I’ve directed folks to read the link I provided in my post #63 …
for this particular “bullet point”, the State undersecretary Mr. Patrick Kennedy appears to be imho closest to refusing to fill a request from Stevens for support.

PS:
Was that directed at Rep. Gowdy, or at me for expressing my feelings about him?
:rotfl:

Moderator,
will you please close this thread?

PS:
When I started a search with “does Trey Gowdy”,
it added “wear a wig”😛

was going to add “pay more than $50.00 for his haircut”? 😃

I searched for Trey and this popped up:

Trey Gowdy, the new chairman of a special House panel to investigate Benghazi, is a tough questioner and former federal prosecutor with three dogs named Judge, Jury, and Bailiff

Does he take his dogs to the same barber? 😃

Sad but telling so much more about where the majority of the country is right now.

But hey the Stanly cup and basketball playoffs are on the tube and the start of a new baseball season. Just too much to think about and dude it was two years ago.
Uh, I agree with the folks here who are trying to get across the importance of this issue and I am very glad to see the special committee set up. But, I mean, can’t you watch the Stanley Cup Playoffs and care about Benghazi??? :o

Just joking, no reply needed. And my prayers are with the victims of the attack, make that terrorist attack.

Does GOP stand for GAY OLD PARTY now?
No, GOP stands for “Grand Old Party” - otherwise known as Republican. I am glad that they are not letting go of this - especially considering this new revelation associated with the email by Ben Rhodes which clearly shows an attempt to deliberately mislead the American people into believing Obama’s foreign policy wasn’t the disaster that it has been. I believe one of Obama’s big promises was that his administration would be “transparent.” This is hard to believe considering that his administration refused to release all documents related to Benghazi and only did so when ordered to by a court. But of course, “they have nothing to hide.” :hmmm:

One would hope that all decent people would understand the importance of getting to the truth. I certainly hope that Obama partisans would want to know the truth surrounding the killing of an ambassador.

This guy Steyn says it much better then I ever could.

Well, Benghazi’s a long way away. Who cares? It’s not like Washington’s Libya policy makes any difference to the average guy in Des Moines, is it? Ah, but if you swallow Benghazi you’re not really in any position to complain about the IRS or if-you-like-your-plan-you-can-keep-it or whatever’s next down the pike, are you? Healthy political cultures punish the first lie - because otherwise it never stops.

And this wasn’t a small lie. It was a bold, audacious lie on a date the American people are supposed to hold in sacred memory: 9/11. Nixon lied about a “third-rate burglary”. But, as I told Hugh Hewitt earlier today, nobody died at Watergate. There weren’t four bodies left on the floor. And the Administration didn’t attempt to pin the quadruple murder on some other fellow entirely.

But that’s exactly what the Obama crowd did.

Was it worth it? Silly question. For these guys, it’s always worth it.

“Greater love hath no man than this,” quoth the President at Chris Stevens’ coffin, “that a man lay down his life for his friends.” Smaller love hath no man than Obama’s - that he lay down his “friend” for a couple of points in Ohio.

Okay great,
we’ve about worn out this Benghazi topic with the same opinions from both sides being repeated over and over;
So let’s go back to the 9/11 opinionated lies and see if we can get those “punished” because if they were truly lies,
the effect of their cause was much bigger than Watergate or Benghazi

Did 4000 folks really stay home from work at the WTC on 9/11?
Was the air force defense really told to stand down on 9/11?

Here’s a few listed at “Wiki”:
The most prominent conspiracy theory is that the collapse of the Twin Towers and 7 World Trade Center were the result of a controlled demolition rather than structural failure due to impact and fire.
Theories

Foreknowledge

Main article: September 11 attacks advance-knowledge debate
See also: U.S. military response during the September 11 attacks and United States government operations and exercises on September 11, 2001
It has been claimed that action or inaction by U.S. officials with foreknowledge was intended to ensure that the attacks took place successfully.

Suspected insider trading

Just before 9/11 there was an “extraordinary” amount of put options placed on United Airlines and American Airlines stocks. Authorities believed, and some conspiracy theorists continue to maintain, that trading insiders may have known in advance of the coming events of 9/11 and placed their bets accordingly

Air defense stand down theory

A common claim among conspiracy theorists is that the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) issued a stand down order or deliberately scrambled fighters late to allow the hijacked airplanes to reach their targets without interference.

There’s several more listed …

This link that follows takes at least a minute or two to load, but please read it because it’s where I read about 4000 folks taking off from work on 9/11:
PS:
Seriously, is there any truth to the foregoing 9/11 “theories”
And should they have been investigated by democrats with at least the same zeal republicans are dedicating to Benghazi? 🤷 🍿

The topic of this thread is Benghazi, not wild conspiracy theories about 9/11. Benghazi is a straightforward case of the administration lying about the facts for political reasons. The 9/11 theories you list are nothing more than a way to divert attention away from Benghazi. What that tells me is the case for defending Obama on Benghazi is very, very weak - to have to use crazy conspiracy theories to divert attention.

The “opinions” are strictly yours. I just want answers to questions. Your answers have been “IMHO” and “appears.”

I would like answers from the administration. Straightforward. That is all.

There should be no special investigation, especially since Obama promised “greater transparency.” Obama is the Gander because that statement implied lack of transparency under the “previous administration” as he so dearly refers to the Bush administration.

In the following the word “dispensed” is used to mean discarded or canceled:

Benghazi Report – CBS: State Dept. Patrick Kennedy Gave “Stand Down/Hold” Order… Claim “we’re not lying, just idiots”…
Posted on May 17, 2013 by sundance
“We’re portrayed by Republicans as either being lying or idiots,” said one Obama administration official who was part of the Benghazi response. “It’s actually closer to us being idiots.” …]
The Foreign Emergency Support Team known as “FEST” is described as “the US Government’s only interagency, on-call, short-notice team poised to respond to terrorist incidents worldwide.” It even boasts hostage-negotiating expertise. With U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens reported missing shortly after the Benghazi attacks began, Washington officials were operating under a possible hostage scenario at the outset. Yet deployment of the counterterrorism experts on the FEST was ruled out from the start. That decision became a source of great internal dissent and the cause of puzzlement to some outsiders.
Thursday, an administration official who was part of the Benghazi response told CBS News: “I wish we’d sent it.”
The official said Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s deputy, Patrick Kennedy, quickly dispensed with the idea. A senior State Department official Thursday told CBS News, “Under Secretary Kennedy is not in the decision chain on FEST deployment” but would not directly confirm whether Kennedy or somebody else dismissed the FEST.

The words put down or stood down seem also synonymous with “dispensed”.

Benghazi timeline: How the attack unfolded
The official said Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s deputy, Patrick Kennedy, quickly dispensed with the idea. A senior State Department official Thursday told CBS News, “Under Secretary Kennedy is not in the decision chain on FEST deployment” but would not directly confirm whether Kennedy or somebody else dismissed the FEST.
Whoever made the decision, it came amid sharp disagreement over the FEST’s true capabilities. Kennedy and others at the State Department view the team as one that primarily restores communications at besieged embassies. However, the FEST’s own mission statement describes a seasoned team of counterterrorism professionals who can respond “quickly and effectively to terrorist attacks… providing the fastest assistance possible” including “hostage negotiating expertise” and “time-sensitive information and intelligence.” In fact, FEST leader Mark Thompson says Benghazi was precisely the sort of crisis to which his team is trained to respond.
While it was the State Department that’s said to have taken FEST off the table, the team is directed by the White House National Security Council. Those officials expressed the same limited view of FEST’s capabilities when CBS News asked on Nov. 1, 2012, why FEST hadn’t deployed. The officials argued that FEST teams were “used in the past to re-establish infrastructure, communications, etc. after a devastating attack…That wasn’t the need here.”
As soon as word of the Benghazi attack reached Washington, FEST members “instinctively started packing,” said an official involved in the response. “They were told they were not deploying by Patrick Kennedy’s front office… In hindsight… I probably would’ve pushed the button.”

Ms. qui est ce,
please accept my apology for my comment at you in one of my posts removed by the Moderator
And I also accept your apology where you admitted not understanding my meaning previously about the use of the word “spontaneous”;
However my Dear, if I can be more polite, you DO take some of my words too personally …
No, you personally have not been so opinionated;

But this thread is rift with posters repeatedly using words like lie, lies, liars, scandals, reprehensible and several other opinionated comments which have been stated by the posters as if they’re fact when they’re unproven opinions as well.

At least I’m honest and so I attach IMVHO to my opinions
which is intended to mean: in my very humble opinion.

IMHO, everyone can benefit from isolating opinions from facts. 😉

Another thing that imvho Obama has done wrong is arm the rebels in Syria which Republican Senator McCain had advocated btw;
But I suspect that was done mostly to spite Putin which is also mvho. 🤷

“Or is already underway” sounds “spontaneous” enough to me ,
do you folks actually believe that for the attack to be “spontaneous” the streets had to be full of rioters and they had to start by throwing sticks and stones?

Excuse me if I :rotfl: on my way to the dinner table. 😛

rex
This post comes across as desperation. The terrorist attack was NOT spontaneous. Do you have ANY experience with large groups of people, of coordinating them at an event or other function? Do you have ANY experience with mobs or other gatherings? Do you have ANY experience in military tactics/necessities/organization/planning/etc? Do you have ANY combat experience?

Have you even run something simple like a fundraising dinner, parish picnic, or group excursion??? (Even with something so simple as a wedding, there is mass confusion and chaos. And a wedding is planned months in advance, and has rehearsals additionally. Even with this, there is chaos and confusion. And people go to weddings all the time, so we know what to expect.) When you have actually tried to organize a large group of people, you will only BEGIN to understand the complexity of military actions where life and death are involved.

When you need to have a group of people all working in close coordination, with proper movements and actions done at the right time, you need to have a great plan, plenty of prior communication, experience, and practice. Lots of practice. Did you even READ how it was described?

The streets were cleared, so the ENTIRE NEIGHBORHOOD was informed. They ALL had time to clear out or hunker down. The teams assembled in separate staging areas. This takes prior planning and practice. The teams all began movements at the sam time, again, prior planning and coordination. The streets were blocked off, again prior planning. The attacks were controlled and focused. They re-positioned their attack with new intel. They brought extra supplies to burn down the buildings. They used heavy weapons which take experience, knowledge, and specialized personnel to operate so you don’t kill your own people.

There is NOTHING spontaneous about the attack. NOTHING!

Quit trying to protect your “team”, and look for the truth. We as Christians are bound to the truth, because we follow The Truth.

Your post 63 is just opinion with little fact or information. That is why it has been discarded by those interested in fact and truth.

And until Mr. Kennedy is under oath and testifying, we won’t know if he gave the stand down order or the refusal to request assistance. Plus if it is true that he did that, we need to REALLY investigate who is in charge of our military forces. Last I checked, the Undersecretary of State is not the CIC.

We also need to know the whereabouts and actions (or inactions) of our SOS and CIC.
