Or if taxpayers’ money were spent on Christmas displays, crucifixes, biblical quotes or images in public buildings, or events at which explicit Christian prayers were said?

Golden rule, baby. If you mean this, take it all the way and I might even support you. If it only applies to others, but not to you, not so much.
What about menorahs and Muslim prayer breakfasts?

Athiest monuments?

Should they all be banned?

Which is why you take your sick child to the church, not the hospital? :ehh:
I actually can do both, is there a reason why you thought we couldn’t? I need water on a daily basis to survive, that doesn’t mean that in a lightning storm my most immediate need isn’t to find shelter.

Even the agnostic Founding Fathers like Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson wanted a Christian nation. They believed that Faith was good for society, even if individually they didn’t follow or believe.
Yes and the marriage equality movement has not been about being anti religion either. Many who are in favor of marriage being inclusive of SS couples believe religion and faith are good too for society and the country. They in fact are in their faith communities across this great nation of ours. Some are Unitarian Universalists. Meltzerboy would be better able to speak for the branches of Judaism than I, but to my knowledge some may be in the Jewish faith.

And most certainly they are found in Christian faith communities. They are believers, including straight and gay, within to name a few places, the United Church of Christ, the Episcopal Church, Presbyterian USA, and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. And before anyone says you can’t be Christian and favor SSM, let me remind you that your own church and faith actually teaches that the above mentioned Christian faiths are indeed Christian.

Indeed the above mentioned faiths are Christian, all with some element of the Truth. We Catholic have the fullness of Truth through the sacraments given to us by Christ, one of which is the sacrament of marriage. So,while these other faiths’ feel free to embrace SS marriage,it is incumbent upon Catholics to remain faithful the the truths and teaching of our faith, founded by Christ.😉

What a petty , immature action.
Isn’t it. Actions speak louder than words - by their fruits (or lack thereof) you shall know them. And on and on. Welcome to the new America. Takes levelling down yet another level. Obligatory levelling. Soon it will be a crime to have a mind, let alone morals.

petty and immature pretty much describes the Obama administration to me.
Pretty much describes national politics to me. The senate and house are right up there with the executive branch. Political party affiliation doesn’t seem to enforce maturity and clear heads. This ruling is going to intensify the playground tactics and shenanigans. I’m watching for someone to punch Ted Cruz on the Senate floor.

It’s very funny to me. I grew up in a liberal environment. We hated right wingers, right - they were morons, rednecks, illiterates (sorry but I am just telling the truth of what I was taught). I find great comfort in seeing the liberal inversion of that for what it is. Life is strange that way. 🙂 Serious point of course is not to be at either extreme…takes some discretion, generosity and discipline - in short supply these days. You have to step outside of yourself - not further in. We are going in the wrong direction I am afraid.

It is funny. I have lived in bright red Utah my entire life. I don’t vote for any party, I vote for the person, and have voted both for Dems and Reps. I couldn’t in good conscience vote for Romney or Obama, and also could not in good conscience not vote. So, knowing the electoral college vote would be for Romney, I voted for Obama. Yup, 93% of the Utah vote was for Romney. I see it as, I didn’t vote while voting. 😃 My own private passive resistence to a system that I view as abused to the point of absurdity. This SCOTUS ruling, just an indication of the same abuse.

I dread the next election that is going to be colored by all things immature and petty, with no one to vote for, again.

🙂 I live in uberliberal Washington - I too vote both Democrat and Republican. I voted for Obama; it is amazing I am sorry to say how much I have come to hate that man; I actually went to my caucus and spoke for Obama and against Hillary (I thought he would be more moderate and electable). I couldn’t vote for Romney either. In my state it also made no difference, if I had voted for Romney or not. I also worry about the next election. I desperately hope the Republicans can put up someone I can vote for without holding my nose too much. It is a sorry consolation that how I vote won’t matter though - my state is solid blue. But I will vote.

Obama sold himself as more moderate, and he has turned out to be much different than what he was selling. A bait and switch. Romney had already done more than one bait and switch in his political career, once supporting “full equality”, which people in Massachusetts took as supporting SSM. Then in his presidential bid, putting off stating his stance, until finally standing with the party line. They are both cut from the same cloth, and I couldn’t determine at the time I voted what was truth and what was pandering to get votes. Obama had the chance to show his true colors, quite literally, now lit up for all to see. Romney is still in the shadows.

There is no question left regarding how the rest of the world views our country. I am praying that we can jump safely out of Obama’s basket to hell while there is still a chance. We must have the courage to elect leaders that have proven their honesty, open their past because they have nothing to hide, and are not related in any way to the lying Clintons and Obamaites! The judicial system has slid into the ditch and is in need of repair.

Adding to the “play” - Obama sings a solo of “Amazing Grace”. Go figure!
Actually from what I saw he wasn’t the only Christian singing. Those who were there joined him in singing “Amazing Grace”.

Well, I don’t think we could have a more bone-chilling example in front of us of the importance of electing a Republican in terms of the appointing judges to the Supreme Court. 🙂 But then who knows, weren’t Roberts and Kennedy Republican appointees? (not sure about Kennedy)
