Strike a member of a sacred class and your charges get upgraded. So was he more injured by a little old lady because of the alleged motive?

A “sacred class”? The first hate crime to go to the Supreme Court had a black defendant.
It is a ‘hate crime’ because not only was the victim and the public order hurt but the woman inflamed hateful tensions in our community. Look, she was wrong.

In the account of the event, she initiated confrontation in trying to have him removed from public property and telling him that he needs to go back to [the country] where he came from. If this is true, she initiated the conflict.
He was also breathing the entire time. Neither of those is a factor that influences whether or not striking someone is a crime.
Do you find her charge(s) to be inappropriate?

Yet his camera did not catch any of that. She thought they needed beach passes, she was mistaken, he calls her a “dumb ****” while livestreaming. He escalated things with the camera and taunting an old lady.

This is a perfect example of, no matter how hard I try, I can never take the left seriously with their never ending tales of racism. To think there might be people who can watch that video and see a hate crime…well there’s just no fixing things at this point. . . .

I don’t k ow if the court will consider escalation, but since she initiated a conflict, it gives her more of a burden in the situation that unrolls from the conflict.

It’s shocking that people are so deaf and blind to hate speech and racism. I only feel sorry for the old lady because she probably doesn’t even recognize her racist attitude because it is defended so much on a day to day basis. This is what black people have to tolerate still. Those men did not start anything at all. They weren’t committing crime. They weren’t threatening her. They were completely innocent of any wrong doing other than they were black and the old lady was angered by that fact.

They were not offended or would not have called her a nasty name to provoke her and also keep laughing and laughing. They thought she was a useful idiot and were playing her eventually having her charged with two crimes.
Can you genuinely not see the white ladies racial attack? She outright told them her problem was that they were black. Black people have to video situations because history repeatedly proves that when there’s no witnesses, the black person will invariably be made out to be the perpetrator. And why should they not laugh in the face of blatant racism? It’s racism that is ugly, not silly young boys laughing at it. She was acting like a racist and she didn’t get away with it.

Actually, she verbally attacked him and his friends until a park worker told her she was wrong – they had every right to be there. Then she assaulted them.
I guess that kind of stuff is ok with you. Its not a question of his being a ‘tough guy’ at all.

She slapped his arm because she was annoyed he was making so much fun of her which he was.

She deserved ridicule. The bike riders were bothering no one and breaking no laws. We can’t have a society where folks go around slapping those who laugh at their vain attempts to have them removed from the area.
I guess it bothers you not a whit that this woman had obviously profiled them as outsiders breaking the local regulations?
This is exactly why the video evidence is important. That isn’t what happened at all. They said that word so quietly that she didn’t even seem to hear and was intently having a discussion with the girl. The girl said that they were ok to be there and one of the men very politely said that ‘it’s public’. That is what set her off. To that part she spat out “you want to kill me”. He called her the name at the beginning to redicule her and egg her on. There are plent of people who go around slapping someone on the arm. That is what this woman did. She thought that it was a private area such as a gated community but there were sections that were public and that is what the worker was explaining.
