Who are the protesters behind Occupy Wall Street–and what do they want?

Left-wingers don’t tell people to “love it or leave it.” That’s a right-wing mantra, so QED. And, unless one was born yesterday, he or she knows what right wingers (and left wingers) are.

:thumbsup:Even “rich kids” wearing expensive jeans have the right to a social conscience. Maybe they believe in the causes of the protesters. :rolleyes:

Go to a Wal Mart on a saturday and see how many rascal scooters are missing. It’s not because people are injured-it’s usually because they’re HUGE. Obesity is the problem. You gotta love a country where the poor people are fat. 😃

I think if the place as immoral and ethically corrupt as some (usually-key word, usually) leftists, I would think they have no choice but to leave it! Would you stay in a job that was ethically corrupt and immoral?

Many have to do that. Our economy isn’t in such great shape as to afford people to move easily from job to job. But, I believe that the exhortation to leave didn’t mean, “Move to Texas or NY,” but to leave the country. No way!!

Fat, but not well nourished. When one is poor, the stuff they eat tends to be high fat, oversalted junk food.

Being fat is not good, being skinny is not good either.
 
One protester said “I got my college degree. I did my part now I deserve more money.” We have an entire society that assumes some cosmic quid pro quo just because we are who we are. Delusional.

I got an invite to join the local movement of this protest with (and I kid you not) “Don’t think about what this is for or the cause, just get out there and let’s make a difference”

No where did the person say what the protest was for, just to get out there. I can tell they are relying on mob mentality, rather than rational thought here.

Seriously though, I am terrified of these things getting violent - especially since they are starting to get outside peoples homes. I remember WTO clearly (given that I lived in the area) and I saw the mayhem and violence that came as a result of that and the principle with these protests are the same - down with the evil rich (well…richer than us) people. sigh When I hear interviews of protesters saying “We know how to make a Molotov and use it to get our point across” and they are at people’s homes where CHILDREN live…I start getting worried. I have been praying for a lasting peace in this situation so that no one gets hurt like the last time this happened in my area.

I have no respect for this rabble. If they want to make a point, threatening people’s lives and trying to terrify individuals with “We know where you and your children live” tactics makes them no better than terrorists.

Then, their parents should be charged with neglect. There are too many resources available, both public and private, for children to suffer in that manner in the US.

If they are “rich kids”, they’re getting the $$ for the jeans from their parents unless they’re under age rock stars. And if they had a social conscience, they wouldn’t be buying $300 jeans.

Many of the Russian anarchists were young educated Russians whose parents were rich. They too knew how to make and throw a Molotov cocktail. Idle hands.

Just like the anarchists in Seattle did some years ago. I am just glad the cops are keeping a close eye on these people, and again - pray for peace. Those of us remembering and who were effected by WTO and knowing these people are outside people’s houses knows how badly this can end if the attitude of WTO is repeated. (and it’s going the same direction as it did last time, so you can understand the fear) All it’s gunna take is another pack of anarchists to get in the crowd and start throwing things through windows and the tinderbox is gunna ignite.

I’m glad to see young people (okay…people MY age) actually caring about something, but they need to learn more about how the world works and understand WHAT they are fighting for (instead of joining a mob because it’s “Cool”) and come at it with a level head, maturity, and a purpose. When someone is an empty-headed drone and violence starts they jump right on board and people get hurt or killed.

Thats the problem. Nobody, I mean nobody knows what it is they are fighting for.

I think maybe some of them do…but it’s a small percentage.

In the case of the movement here, I’m willing to bet next to none do. Most of them are college students out there because of the flyers on campus that just say “Come join the cause! Don’t think about it, just come and make a difference.”

It’s downright scary what they are doing. It makes me really wonder about my classmates and their abilities to “think independently”
