I been playing Skyrim.

I always side with the stormcloaks in the civil war, because of the very thing about the fact that the empire wants to stop people from worshipping whoever they want in the game.

Because seems the Stormcloaks seem for religious freedom, while the Empire wants things to remain as they are.

Reviving this thread to see if anyone else has been playing Breath of the Wild lately? I wasn’t sure how I was going to like the non-linear story at first, but it won me over pretty quickly. I’ve just had so much fun exploring Hyrule and stumbling onto something cool. I could probably go storm the castle and kill Ganon right now - I have more than enough hearts and weapons - but I’ve been procrastinating because I JUST WANT TO RIDE A GRIZZLY BEAR ONE MORE TIME DANG IT. 😛

The only thing I kind of miss are the dungeons. I guess the Divine Beasts and shrines are supposed to be those, but they just don’t compare to the traditional Zelda dungeon. Still, I think the game more than makes up for it.
I was playing it a couple of months ago when it first came out. I did enjoy it and would definitely buy it again, but I think I had similar thoughts to you and would have preferred the traditional Zelda experience. I didn’t mind the non-linearity either (they actually experimented with that in Link Between Worlds on the 3ds, so it’s not entirely brand new), but as you said the dungeons just did not compare to a traditional Zelda dungeon, and that’s usually my favorite part of Zelda that’s pretty much only good for the first playthrough when you don’t know how to do anything.

I think I was most disappointed in the complete lack of a decent storyline though. I feel like 90% or more of that gigantic field map was completely unrelated to story at all. I guess the point was to let the player explore a ton, which was fun and certainly was achieved, but that to me kind of feels like wasting time rather than doing something important if it is not related to story progression. They certainly had a lot of space for more storyline dungeons haha. I am looking forward to that second DLC pack that extends the story though so we’ll see what happens there.

One thing I did really like were all those small puzzle shrines. Having to complete puzzles to get all of the hearts rather than find Pieces of Heart in obscure locations was a welcome change. And the difficulty was significantly increased in this game. I’ve always felt that Zelda is too easy as far as combat is concerned, but that problem was certainly solved in this game. I’m still not used to ordinary enemies hitting for 8+ hearts or even more on the normal difficulty. I think they have some kind of combat-related trial in the first DLC pack which I think already came out? I should get around to revisiting this game.

I bought the game when it first came out, but I still haven’t played it. I bought the Switch version and I still don’t have a Switch yet. :o The Switch has been so hard to find and I’m waiting for it to come in to GameStop so I can use gift cards to buy it. Unfortunately, GameStop only sells the Switch online un bundle format. When I called, the guy said I could buy it in store on it’s own but that they only get a new shipment every month or so and only 5 at a time (which are then usually gone within an hour).

So I hope to play it sometime soon. It looks great! I’m looking forward to that (and Splatoon 2).
I don’t have a Switch either so I got the Wii U version. I needed a way to justify buying that thing and this certainly does it! You need to solve this problem though. Zelda has been waiting for you to wake up for 100 years already and she can’t hold back Ganon much longer. The world might fall into darkness if you don’t answer the call soon haha :p.

The game is a year old, but I wanted to recommend Furi. It’s a combination one-on-one fighting game and a bullet hell game. It’s nothing but several boss fights. You have just a few different attacks, but because each boss is a puzzle boss (where you have to figure out the right away to defeat each one) the limited attacks help isolate the solutions. I found that it took a few attempts for the brain to figure out the bosses, then another few attempts for my fingers to catch up.

The story is kept vague at first and slowly revealed. It does leave a few questions even after you finish it, but it does answer a majority of questions you ask along the way.

😃 Must. Move. Quickly! That reminds me, I should call GameStop and see if they received any Switches today. 😛

I’m loving Splatoon 2 so far. I like using the dualies. 😃
This is another game I already bought for the Switch I do not have. :o

I’ll probably stick with the roller, though I will try the dualies. Did you play the first Splatoon? How big of an adjustment is it going from playing with two screens? I really liked having the map right there and being able to glance down to see where my teammates are at.

In the first Splatoon, I finally made it to the max 9,999,999 coins just the other day, and I’m currently at S rank (usually, I make it to S rank every month or so and then quickly get knocked back down to A+). So it would be a good time to move on to the second one. 😛

Yeah, I have Splatoon 1 and I loved it. Splatoon 2 has more sub-weapons and more specials. Frankly, in my opinion, it’s even better than Splatoon 1. The biggest adjustment to make is in the map. The map that was on the Wii U controller’s screen is still available in Splatoon 2, you just have to press the X button to look at it. When you press X, you get a full view of the map and your teammates locations. You can press, on the D pad, a direction that corresponds to their location and can jump to where they are (instead of running/swimming back to their location).

Rollers are even more effective in Splatoon 2 because now you can fling ink farther. It used to be that the rollers had bad range, but now you can jump and, in mid air, press the shoot button to fling the ink farther than just the normal shotgun-like attack

I could never come close to A or S rankings, so you’re a lot better than I am :p. I think I may have gotten to B or B-, but that’s it.

Now I really want a Switch. 😛 I like to jump and flick with the roller, so I think I will definitely like the improvement.

I thought I wouldn’t like the ranked mode, but I found myself really enjoying it, so that is what I play almost always. Probably way too much. 😊

Anyone here play flight sims like x plane or FSX?

Cause i do at times.

Of course i find smaller planes like a Cessna easier to land than a huge plane like a 747 or Boeing 777

I really enjoyed the combat in this game too. It took a while for me to get used to my weapons breaking, but I eventually came to like that game mechanic a lot. Forced me to actually think strategically instead of just charging into a horde of enemies like I usually do. The DLC combat trial is even more challenging. I’m having a lot of fun with it, but it is HARD. There’s forty five levels to beat, and each one has progressively tougher enemies. Oh and it strips you of all your equipment when you start, so pretty much have to learn to utilize the entire environment.

And I agree the story was pretty light for a Zelda game. But I guess that’s what the developers were going for maybe? I remember reading somewhere that they really wanted to give the player a sense of disorientation and discovery, which they definitely succeeded at. I kind of actually liked the fact that the main “story” of the game technically happened one hundred years prior, and you have to piece together what happened by finding the lost memories. I also thought this game’s Princess Zelda might be my favorite yet. She definitely had the best character arc I’ve seen for her in the series.

But yeah, I still wish they could have added a little more story. I think if they had, and there was at least one classic dungeon, it could easily have topped Ocarina or Windwaker for me.

“Forced me to actually think strategically instead of just charging into a horde of enemies like I usually do.” Yeah, that’s going to present a learning curve for me, too. 😛

Weird. I think Breath of the Wild is the best Zelda game since Link to the Past. I didn’t like Ocarina. Windwaker was wonderful. But BotW beats it. It reminds me of the very first Zelda game. My grandmother had it. She played it all the time. We would go in and wander around, exploring. It blew my little 5 year old mind.

I actually really really loved Breath of the Wild. (I know my posts might not sound like it, but it’s true! :p) It definitely earned all the rave reviews it got. I’m sure I’ve clocked in more than a hundred hours on it, which is something I almost never do. And honestly, I haven’t played the other Zelda games in years, so there’s probably some nostalgia coloring my view of them.

Part of me kind of wants to revisit those older games now to see how they hold up, but another part is worried I might be so spoiled with BOTW that I won’t be able to enjoy them anymore haha.

I’m not exactly a gamer, per se.

However, I do enjoy playing them when the opportunity arises.

I’ve played video games since I was at least in middle school. This doesn’t include generic computer games during the age of Windows 98, 2000, ME, etc. (I admit I was a fan of Math Blaster. =P )

Lately, I’m into shooters and fighters games.

Any titles you have in mind?
Farcry 2 and 3.

Dead space 1, 2, and 3

Call of duty Black ops 1

Borderlands 2 and the prequel.

All the Batman games beginning with asylum.

This is just some of the games i like playing right now.

IIRC, the Stormcloaks are also racist, though. Plus the Empire didn’t really want to forbid Talos worship; it was forced on them in the peace treaty.

One of the things that make Bethesda games so good is there are very few black and white moral choices. You can make a credible case for both.

Btw, if you like Skyrim you’ll probably like the Fallout series. Fallout: New Vegas is probably my favorite game of all time.

Yeah.

I play as a Khajiit and they say to me, what do you want cat? There is actually a dialogue option at Windhelm to fight Ralof for being racist

I picked up a Switch yesterday. Played some Splatoon 2, but haven’t got to Breath of the Wild yet. Maybe this weekend. Looking forward to it!

I’d love to get a Switch one day, but sadly I don’t have the money at the moment. I’ll have to stick with my 3DS!
