Who here likes video games? Anyone?

Yes, Zelda games aren’t short. 😜 I feel like Twilight Princess was slow going for a while, but once it picked up I enjoyed it a lot. Skyward Sword seemed a lot shorter, but that’s probably because the map was a lot smaller.

I kind of wish Zelda games were longer lol. Not that they are short, but I like it to go on as long as possible. I guess the problem with Zelda is it has relatively poor replay value, since most of the enjoyment for me at least is figuring out all the dungeons and how to defeat the bosses. Unless you have amnesia it’s just going through the motions the second time.

I’ve been thinking about replaying Windwaker since I still have my old Gamecube. I think the last time I played it was in high school, which would have been over 10 years ago. Maybe I won’t remember some of the major details, but I’m kind of thinking I will based on how many times I replayed it back then. I remember not being terribly wild about the whole Great Sea thing since it seemed like there was 95% of the map that was uninteresting due to it being covered in an ocean. I was glad to have the traditional overworld back in Twilight Princess which is at least varied and interesting to explore.

Speaking of Windwaker, I’m not sure if I posted this in the past but if you’re looking to blow $15 on a decent indie game on GOG, here’s one that’s pretty much a clone of Windwaker: Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas on GOG.com. I tried this out a few years back and it was a pretty good Zelda-esque experience (albeit shorter than a typical Zelda game). The screenshots should convince you it was directly inspired by Windwaker 😄

It’s funny. I played “Link to the Past” over and over again to the point where my brother and I could play through it from start to finish in one day. But after that, I generally just played through Zelda games once. That’s why I generally put off facing Ganon as long as possible. I know once I beat him, my motivation to play the game will vastly decrease.

When my daughter came around, I started to play through them again, though. Playing Windwaker again after 10 years—even though I had only played through it once, it was remarkable how much became familiar once I encountered it. Of course, having played so many Zelda games over so many years, I feel like I have developed a 6th sense with regards to dungeon puzzle solving. Even playing through Skyward Sword for the first time, my daughter would sometimes ask, “How did you know to do that?” My response is, “Because it’s a Zelda game.” 😁

I used to play Zelda over and over again when I was younger too. For some reason I didn’t play A Link to the Past as much, but every year when summer vacation started I had this tradition of replaying Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, and Windwaker in that order, one dungeon a day. It took 20 days IIRC. 😎 I think I used to know how to obtain all the Pieces of Heart in Majora’s Mask by heart (pun kind of intended), and there were I think 52 in that game due to only having 4 Heart Containers. That included all of the masks since you needed them to get the last four pieces inside the moon.

Regarding A Link to the Past, prior to Breath of the Wild that was the hardest Zelda game I played, and it was the first video game I ever played. I just remember that moth boss in the Skull Woods dungeon that had all those conveyor belts everywhere, with all those spikey things sliding everywhere while the boss is shooting laser beams in triplets at you 😬. Or the fake maiden that turns into that monster that has its three heads floating around launching fireballs at you. Or the masked lion boss (have no idea if it actually is a lion, probably some kind of reptile, but that’s what I thought at 3) that I would lose to all the time because I’d run out of bombs and/or arrows. And I’d run out of magic with the Fire Rod/Ice Rod boss on Death Mountain, even with blue potions 😑. IIRC my strategy back then was to get to the boss and then make my grandfather fight the boss when he came back from the construction sites he worked on 😏. I was afraid of that red game over screen lol

I never played the n64 zeldas, since I owned a PlayStation at that time. I do plan on picking them up for my 3ds though, especially since they’ve been remastered. I tried playing ocarina on the wii’s virtual console but I wasn’t a fan of the early 3D polygon graphics

Anyone else keeping up with the news about the new Pokémon game? I’ll wait for the reviews to come out (when it’s out), but looks interesting.

I forgot what I had already done in a dungeon in LoZ Oracle of Seasons, so now I can’t use the Zelda Dungeon guide.

Tekken and Mortal Kombat are my favorite fighting games and including Dragon Ball Z Budokai games on the Ps2 .

I just bought a new xbox 360 so I could play Halo 3 again. I remember begging my mom to get me an xbox when I was a kid, but they were around $300 dollars at that time, and we were broke. Now a 360 is $70 and a copy of Halo 3 closer to $4.
That is funny, my son (28) just picked up a used Xbox 360 and we are playing Halo series all the way through…just got through with the Library…we do one level a night…picked up Halo 2 Halo 3 Halo Reach and ODST…

I remember buying the Xbox for them Christmas 2001 when they were 11 and 12…and had no idea what Halo was but bought it as a first game…been hooked ever since…many a great family game night had…

I hated that level. I somehow got lost during it and had to restart the level the first time I played through it.

I just remembered- I think that I called my friend at midnight to help me get through 343 Guilty Spark (I was probably 11 at the time). I went through the phone book and called him up. I don’t think his parents were too happy 😛

I didn’t get an Xbox until 2011, I think. I was stuck playing the Halo 1 demo on the PC for a long time and thought that, if I beat the demo level on Legendary, I would get to play the next level 🤣 Then I got a Mac and started modding the game until I got that Xbox (I wasn’t very good at that).

It is a long level…but the two Betrayals are next, and they are BRUTAL!

And of course my son Aaron has to have it on Legendary…I got wrist cramps!

I used to play on normal every time- now I’ve coached myself to start at Heroic 😏

I always like Pong, and played it at the local bowling alley in my misspent youth.

Of course, it has changed a lot, I saw the ads on tV for “Game of War”. In spite of the ads, I’m not sure if I really believe Ms. Upton is a gamer.

Pretty cool. In every Zelda game, there is always those one or two heart pieces that I could never seem to find.

You’re making me feel old, though. 😝 Ocarina of Time came out when I was in college. Majora’s Mask came out after I had already graduated.

That’s probably why I never played through them multiple times.

We finished it tonight on Legendary…man I want to get a copy of the original and not this remastered one…did not care for it…glitches and other issues…

Also played Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 a few days ago, caused a car to flip over on the test track and had to restart.

I think that you’re right and the storyline is better too.
