Ugh, I hope there isn’t a long line tomorrow. We have the three-and-a-half year old and she isn’t likely to be pleased.
If you have one that young with you, good luck. If it’s a Democratic precinct, however, make sure you bring her. She may fuss enough to cause other Democratic voters to leave in anguish.

Voter disenfranchisement, right? 🙂

I am personally amazed that so many are still here arguing about this election. IMO…it’s over…people have decided…we must all wait and see.

To those with whom I disagree…best of luck…when the votes are counted and a winner determined…that will be my President.

And, you are here because…? 😛

The candidates are neck and neck according to early voting results, what an exciting election!

I wish I could say the same, but I cannot agree with your sentiment that the winner will be my President. If Obama wins, I will recognize him as “The President”, but never “My President”. I cannot support a man so anti-Catholic. My first allegiance is always to the Church, not an American politician. I will render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s, i.e., taxes, but no more. I respect your position, John. I just can’t share your sentiments.

Well said Dave,I agree!👍

I understand,

I understand,

John
I do want to share a true story with you from today. My three closest friends in the DC area are two black Catholic lawyers, both liberals, and a white government contractor who is a genuine right winger (I have to wear a tin foil hat during our Friday night talks at Starbucks).

One of the lawyers, John, approached me at court this morning. “No matter what happens tomorrow, we remain the best of friends, right?” I agreed. John then gave me a big hug right there in the courthouse hallway. I was touched, to say the least. I would never gloat in front of John or my other liberal friend over a Romney victory, nor would they do it to me if Obama wins the presidency.

Love and friendship triumph over all else. 🙂

Friendships aside, if Obama wins, Catholics will have to brace ourselves for his revenge for having the audacity to oppose him and his mandate. I think that’s what Obama meant when he told people to vote for revenge. It’s his revenge that he’s planning against the Catholic Church.

Huzzah Dave, plus, your friend has a great name…translated…God’s Gracious Gift. My late mother might disagree.

I for one will keep my eyes focused on Christ. He is the Life, the Truth and theWay.Try as he might Obama cannot change that fact!

I respect your position as well, Dave. I have nothing against those here who chose to vote for Gov. Romney, and I trust that there wil be no rancor in the aftermath of the election regardless who wins.

I in like manner to you will never accept Romney as any other than The President, should he win. I respect the office and by extension, the man holding it, but Romney at his best leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I dislike Ryan as well… As for Obama, dislike is the softest epithet I can use about him. I reject the notion that he is conspiring to destroy the Church, but his policies cripple the Church from carrying out its mission and he is indifferent to the damage he is doing to the Church.

I don’t mean to be uncharitable, but at this time “a pox on both your houses” best encapsulates.my feelings about the two parties. 😦

I fear there may be some truth to this. We may be only now seeing the tip of the iceberg in terms of the coming “war” against the Church.

At this point we can only pray…and vote tomorrow!!!

How can crippling the Church from doing her mission of helping the poor and helping people to know the gospel not be an attempt to destroy the Church?

We are in the suburbs outside of Buffalo (95% white) so it could be COP. I really have no idea how they vote around here.

It’s not a bad place to live- for now- we are looking at getting a place somewhere in the city- not so homogenized, pasteurized, and pulverized culturally.

And I respect your opinion, sir! 🙂

I am talking about the exemptions and what the government considers “religious”. A Catholic school that enrolls non catholic students would not be exempt. A maternity home staffed by religious sisters that serves women of all faiths (not just Catholic) would not be exempt…the HHS would not consider them “religious enough”. At least that’s MY understanding.
I think you are wrong about the exemptions. I teach in a Catholic school and I am not covered even though there are many non catholics in our school. You might want to check out the actual bill.

If Obama wins, we Catholics will have to fasten our seat belts for the rough ride ahead because Obama will see it as validation of the HHS mandate. And if he see’s that he can get away with that, there’s nothing to stop him from doing a whole lot more especially since this time he doesn’t have to worry about another election. Hopefully, he won’t pull a Hugo Chavez on America and change laws to keep him in indefinitely. But he did compare himself to Franklin D. Roosevelt who was a four-term president. So, it wouldn’t surprise me if he did.
