Who will you be supporting in the U.S. presidential election with our Catholic values in mind?

I just took the ISideWith quiz, clicking “show more questions” under each topic until there weren’t anymore, answering as best as I understand Catholic values should be applied to each question.

When taking this quiz, I was under the impression that a party doesn’t hold primaries when they already have a candidate that has won up for reelection. I was trying to see if there are any Democrat candidates I could support, because I don’t like Trump’s crude mannerisms and the messy suspicions about his interactions with foreign leaders, but none of them are prolife.

Then I saw John Kasich was listed and he was my 2nd favorite to Marco Rubio in the last primaries. After doing more research though it sounds like he won’t run, but I’m still hoping he does.

I learned that Mark Sanford, Joe Walsh, and Bill Weld will be running. I don’t know anything about these people and for some reason they weren’t listed on ISideWith. Does anyone know about those people and plan to support them?

John Kasich is a good man with the country in mind and the ability to work to get things done, as opposed to the current person in the office.

He was my pick last election

Too bad so many people are still supporting the current office holder and Kasich won’t be seeking the office.

Nobody lol. Unless the American Solidarity Party fields another candidate. Or we get some other decent third-party candidate.

That’s not a bad idea… I may have to consider not voting for anyone outside of the American Solidarity Party.

In regards to the OP, absolutely both my wife and I definitely will. Needless to say, it won’t be Trump since he words and actions certainly don’t reflect Catholic values.

I really like Kasich, but he’s certainly not going to be an option, and as far as the Dems are concerned, I really have no favorite at this time.

I had never heard of that party, but I just looked it up. That’s cool.
Yeah, they had been around for a few years before the 2016 election, but pretty much nobody had ever heard of them. They got some exposure from the Catholic media before the elections, and that’s how I (and probably most others who voted for them) found out about them.

It’s great, because their platform corresponds with my political viewpoints almost exactly. It’s just a shame that they’ll probably never do anything significant.

I will be voting for the person who does not belong to the party that has as it’s party planks such things as legalized abortion on demand, same sex marriage.

If you vote for any candidate that belongs to that party just gives that party more power. You have to understand the more of those candidates that win just gives them the power to continue their ruinous path. It really doesn’t matter what the individual candidate says when all is said and done they will have to walk in lock step with party leaders. They may occasionally be allowed to stray if it is pretty obvious that they don’t need their support on a certain issue. They virtually sell their soul and lose their own voice.

I vote for the candidate who seems to offer the proven best future for our society.

I think abortion, no-fault divorce (at least when children are involved), etc., are bad for our society.

While helping the poor is good for society, any theoretical decrease can be freely offset by people forming and/or contributing to charitable endeavors and state and local government endeavors, so I see the legal issues as more important in my voting.

American Solidarity Party. It doesn’t bother me that they are not going to win, short of a miracle. Picking the lesser of two evils is… evil!

No, you have to pick the lesser of two evils! Don’t throw your vote away! Hitler or Satan?
I wonder who would seriously pick Satan (besides cheeky non-Christians) between these two choices and why?

Can someone explain to me the point of voting for the Solidarity Party?

To the shock and disappointment of my non Catholic liberal family I will probably not vote.

Do you think he is the candidate which most closely represents Catholic values or just that he has the best shot at beating a candidate which more severely goes against Catholic values?

I’m supporting no one because no one is representative of my “values” and the lesser of two evils is still an evil.

I believe CCC says we should “exercise the right to vote” so that would be the argument to vote rather than not vote

[2240] Submission to authority and co-responsibility for the common good make it morally obligatory to pay taxes, to exercise the right to vote, and to defend one’s country:
