Who will you be supporting in the U.S. presidential election with our Catholic values in mind?

You talking about Primary or General? I assume Primary since you mentioned Kasich?

Not to derail my own thread, but how do we know when not to submit to authority? I know it is said in the bible that people only have power because God allows them to, but does that mean revolutions are wrong? The fact that the United States successfuly gained independence from Great Britain and now is a power seems to mean it was good of them not to submit to their authority.

If there are times when it is okay to not submit to authority, I would think there are times it is okay to not vote, right?

If you can find a candidate that you think would be a good president, I think it’s still worth voting for them even if their chances are slim. Parties will never grow if nobody gives them a chance. If we don’t want to be stuck with 2 awful choices for the rest of the United States history, we’ve gotta start taking action somehow, even if it seems futile for now.

The criteria for a just war apply to both international and intranational combat.

I learned that Mark Sanford, Joe Walsh, and Bill Weld will be running. I don’t know anything about these people and for some reason they weren’t listed on ISideWith. Does anyone know about those people and plan to support them?
Don’t know too much about them either. Walsh was disc jockey who supported Trump initially then went full on TDS. Sanford had a huge extramarital affair scandal while in Office. Weld was Governor of MA so likely pretty liberal on social issues.

Kasich vetoed a heartbeat abortion bill so he’s out.

Trump has nominated two pro Life judges to Supreme Court. He is first POTUS to ever speak via satellite at March for Life. He defended Kavanaugh (Catholic) who was attacked relentlessly for his faith (Pro Life). Same with Covington kids, who were attached for their Catholic faith. With both Kavanaugh and Covington , Dems and media attacked them for their faith and Trump defended them.

When it comes to Immigration , Trump is also closest to Catholic teaching, since only ensures America takes immigrants “to the extent they are able” (we have 50,000+ overdoses from drug use, not to mention 48,000 suicides per year, etc etc). HE also makes sure they follow all laws (bolded below IN CCC, including border laws)

CCC 2241 The more prosperous nations are obliged, to the extent they are able, to welcome the foreigner in search of the security and the means of livelihood which he cannot find in his country of origin. Public authorities should see to it that the natural right is respected that places a guest under the protection of those who receive him. Political authorities, for the sake of the common good for which they are responsible, may make the exercise of the right to immigrate subject to various juridical conditions, especially with regard to the immigrants’ duties toward their country of adoption. Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them, to obey its laws and to assist in carrying civic burdens.

On the one hand, none of the candidates supports Catholic values. On the other hand, nearly all support some values that are held in common with Catholics.

Thus, it’s toss up for me in terms of Catholic values and Catholic values won’t play a role in my decision.

That’s interesting. I agree that none of them are perfect and all have some values that align with Catholic values, but I feel the slaughter of millions of God’s children made in His image takes precedence and will guide my voting.

If strictly looking at who stands for Catholic values the obvious choice is Trump. All the Democratic running support abortion on demand, Trump does not. Trump supports traditional marriage and family, the Democrats actively work against. Trump supports religious freedom, the Democrats seemingly fight against it.

My vote will be for Trump.

Won’t support any party that supports killing babies, lies about when life begins, destroys marriage by supporting lies about same sex nonunion, believes in transgender, I am a Christian not an atheist or socialist, I don t vote for a party that destroys our Constitution, our universities and our freedom of religion.

I will be supporting and focusing on the reign of our Lord God who is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Which flawed fellow sinner vying to be President will I vote for? Honestly I’ll just choose who I believe to be the lesser of two evils. I’m tired of the temptation of politics that leads us to focus our precious mortal energy on anything other than God. That doesn’t mean we don’t care about what happens on earth. It means that the divisive anger of politics is the biggest tool of the devil in our time, and putting an extreme limitation on the power of the media circus is now second only to prayer in giving Satan the middle finger.

The vote seems to be divided among those who reject Christ for one reason, versus those who reject Him for another.

Although I’m not American, I’d vote from Donald Trump if I could. I took the ISideWith test and it said I’d support John Kasich, but he supports homosexual marriage, doesn’t he? Couldn’t support him.
