Who Will You Vote For in 2012?

Looking at the names you’ve given, I don’t see anyone whom the President ought to be afraid of.
The only candidate who should scare the hell out of anyone here is Barack Hussein Obama. The others believe in individual liberty and the Constitution. I am not a fan of Romney or Gingrich, but even THEY would not intentionally try to "transform" (destroy) the country, as BHO is doing. It's inconceivable to me that even one decent Christian could consider voting for the Marxist thug. I'm starting to understand how tyrants of the past have attained power. :ouch:

I am expecting Obama to win re-election. 😦

I am also terrified that this will happen, but I am praying constantly that it won’t, or that God will work a miracle in the life of this man so he will seek justice for the unborn, poor, and ALL people, not just those on his agenda and that he’ll learn responsibility and stop bankrupting our country. 😦

With thunderous applause…

Obama isn’t going to sneak into this election. People know who he is, what he stands for, and what his word counts for. They understand what he believes in, and who he considers his friends. I think that he will not carry nearly the amount of independent voters who sided with him in '08. Hope and Change won’t carry the day in '12. He had better come up with something spectacular for this go around, because even his base is getting POed at him.

It should also be means tested annually. Same with Medicare. And Food Stamps. and Subsidized Housing.
I noticed that your signature notes that you are a Libertarian. I wish more people were. I am a small “l” libertarian, and not a member of the Libertarian party.

I’m not necessarily in favor of any of the programs you mentioned in the above post. These functions can likely be performed more efficiently by the private sector and for a fraction of the cost. When you write things like “means tested” I immediately think of a governmment bureaucracy - easily influenced by politics and corruption - that would be the ones doing the testing. What could possibly go wrong? 😉

I am a total Austrian school minarchist "l"ibertarian. I can’t stand political parties, not anymore. When I was told to hold my nose and pull the lever for McCain, that was the last straw for me. I am also a realist. I know deep down that government “safety net” programs, while well intended, always devolve into broad spectum entitlement programs that rob people of their dignity and self worth. However, we live in a world where people have become conditioned to thinking that the government is a knight on a white horse, waiting to ride in and save the day. But when it does, it always comes with a pile of paperwork and strings attached to it. And those strings are connected on the other end to someone else’s wallet. I think we can get there, to a small, minimally intrusive government, but we have to do it in bits and pieces. Going for the whole enchilada may sound good, but it is seldom practice to do it this way.

I am with you 100%…I just do not think the voters of this country bother to learn about the issues…and they rarely ever go past the hype dished out by the left, especially in the left’s churches better known as colleges and universities.

After all that Obama has already shown the public, he still has a 50% approval rating. In 2004 Bush won re-election and recieved a mere 50.7% of the vote total. If Obama gets 50%, he wins.

No one, as in good conscience I cannot support any canidate nor what the political institutions stand for at this time. I however can offer my prayers though small they are that God will guide the rest of the nation.
As long as you understand that by not voting you give up the right to complain about those elected into office!

And, for some of us on the left, our churches have names such as St. Anne’s, Immaculate Conception, and St. Augustine’s. 🤷
Sure, along with Purdue, Cal State, Florida State, etc., etc…one set of Churches is for learning about and worshipping God, the other (colleges) is for indoctrinating leftist thought into our young. 🙂

Leftism, imo, is a secular religion.

(btw, the last time this sort of thing came up it seemed clear you are NOT a leftist, but rather a liberal–big difference)

I still like Ron Paul and Herman Cain, but I think as of now I’m going to have to throw my support behind Pawlenty. I think he has what it takes to defeat Obama in 2012. As long as the eventual Republican nominee keeps his foot out of his mouth, Obama loses. Heck, even his own party leaders are starting to turn on him…

Nice blanket statement there. How about “to conservatives, conservatism trumps justice and compassion”? 😦

Both statements are lies, so why say them? 😦
The left is informally, at least… aligned with anti Israel forces including Islamists. Left wing Jews vote for leaders who are at the least…anti Israel…the Democrat Party is the bastion of abortion and other issues formally condemned by my Church. Despite this…members of my Church vote for them. You say this is a lie?..I am sorry to tell you that what I said is not a lie and I am not the only person to make the case. How Catholics can vote for politicians who wear their pro abortion…gay marriage…anti Israel stances out for everyone to see is beyond me. It is not a matter of voting habits and innocently voting for the wrong candidate. You would have to be in a coma not to know that you are voting against the core beliefs of the Catholic Church by voting for many Democrats individually and generally too since all these issues are part of the official platform of the Democrat Party.
I don’t lie…you may not agree but I am not a liar and don’t repeat this please…😦 back at ya

When did I ever say abortion was right? I am against abortion. You can’t be Catholic and pro-abortion…

Abortion is wrong because it is an infringement upon the life and liberty of another person. You’ve just confirmed what I was going to say all along 😃

Thank you,
Eugen von Böhm-Bawerk
You cant be pro life and align with and support the Democrat Party but many here do and call themselves Catholic too…I am happily…not one of them.

Jews, Catholics, Protestants, and others are under no obligation to be pro-Israel.
I would think that any person who believes in freedom and democracy would…does that include you? By the way…I am guessing that the Holy Father is pro Israel. I am thinking that you would raise no argument to my assertion that the left is anti Israel…you seem to be a little south paw yourself…hmmmmm:shrug:

I am all for a nation defining itself, governing itself, and defending itself against hostile forces bent on its destruction, whether that be Israel or Canada.

What about a people? In other words, the Palestinian people. Do they have a right to define, govern and defend themselves?

Yes, I believe you are guessing, too.
