Who's had a drink logging into CAF?

I have come to believe that most posts here are made after several beers…

…yet, no one has ever posted, “You know what? You’re the best friend I could ever have…”
 
To be fair, CAF is a lot funnier after a glass of wine.
 
Your right! Wine is good for the soul - Jesus changed the water into wine at that wedding when Our Blessed Mother mentioned they had run out!

Entirely depends on occasion and company - enjoyment comes together as a whole.

My sure choice is Calém 10 years Tawny, it’s been a personal favorite since I was 16yo, there is no going wrong with it. (I’ll go Vintage or Special Reserve for an occasion. Since you mention it, I’m getting 20 year bottles next year to celebrate a handful of friendship…)

I’ll be opening a personal 20yo reserve of my own making next year. Ohhhh have I waited for it…

[I also make my own Sparkling Wine that is bound to top anything you’ve ever tried…]

When people tell me it is an acquired taste, I have to wonder why someone to acquire the taste.

I do have some cheap vodka in the house, for the purpose of making vanilla extract.

Well @babochka when you’re born into a family having roots in the vineyard you start drinking by the time you’re 14yo - you’ve been working the vineyard since before you can remember. (It’s also a way to ensure you have proper motivation, since you’re inheriting 100 yo vineyards…)

After that “the taste” is there; What isn’t yet there is “the appetite”…“The appetite” comes about when you’ve had drinks everyday for 2 or 3 weeks…That’s when it really starts. (My greatest challenge is when I’m selling wine 8 hours per day interfacing with clients during “tastings”, put in that spot you’re obligated to hold a glass in hand. I have to manage every single sip consciously…)

Again, I come from a long lineage of man who never lost control.

@Cruciferi I remember you back in the 6-pack days when the Cherie brews came together with an amiable CAF exchange. Honestly, I noticed your style migrating from the “Hemingway” touch towards a composed Sean Connery Scotch. I feel your prose adjusting from an already catholic intellectual poise to a refining of your already characteristic charm.

One of the posts I regret was directed at you and I was overworked and sober. Being a workahoolic can be worst than having a drink. Fouteen years on CAF is admirable.

That’s the point I’ve been at lately. Either I go 3 months without a sip, or I have several over the week.

My husband cannot have alcohol for health reasons, so, what used to be our evening ritual of a glass of wine in the evenings before supper is over. I will maybe have some wine when we (rarely) go out to dinner, and I do not go on the internet while at dinner 🙂

I’m reminded of a post I started one time when I had had a few, it was late, and I was bored. I think it was entitled something like, ''My socks keep falling down", or something like that. I didn’t think anyone would respond, but, some people who must have been more bored than I was, responded.

I was thinking the same thing. I’ve never drank before getting on CAF, but there are certainly times that I want to drink afterwards.
 
No scandal here, just one wine is enough to make me giggly ☺️

I don’t drink at all, unless with the Monks who love their wine. Then its wine with a meal.
 
I live near lots of vineyards and I have never visited any them.

I have bought their wines and use them for cooking.

Enough wine makes me spin my wheels mentally.

I overthink things. Well I already overthink when sober but I do even more when tipsy.

I never got drunk.
