If I thought for a second that Congress’ “Plan” would help you, then I’d be for health-care reform. But the dirty ploys behind the scenes that our “Representatives” have done (unions, Louisiana and Nebraska just to highlight a few) prove that our beloved government is after far more than your concerns or mine. We’re not turned away at the ER, no, but that’s not what the sickest need. They need chronic longterm care. If you can’t work enough to get it, you can’t afford a plan. Being poor is not the only requirement to be on medicare/caid. I’ve lived in poverty for most of my adult life and I have never once qualified for government assistance in my care. I go to the ER and file bankruptcy every 7years. That is my ‘health care plan’. ER visits and bankruptcies.
To steal a phrase from Lloyd Bentsen, “Sir, I know healthcare reform, and you are not healthcare reform”.
For instance, if you want to cut the costs of healthcare to EVERYONE, put some type of Tort Reform in the Bill. This has not been addressed and it is the single-most cause of the rise in healthcare costs!
