Thank you believers I was going to put the rest of those up but you beat me to it.šŸ‘ God hates arrogance and people who think they know it all. The only way we can learn the truth is to be humble and open to it not prideful and think we have all the answers. Because there is noone on this earth who has all the answers to biblical teachings. šŸ˜‰
Don’t you know that we are all thinking toward each other the same thing.

Hi there! Sure… no problem. And we give all the praise and glory to God! Amen

Well, I would say the same thing about all the priests, the bishops, the popes etc. They were all called to teach and preach the gospel but that does not make them better then anyone else it just means they are using their spiritual gifts from God.
Of course they are better than other people. It does no good to pretend that we are all the same, because we’re not. Some people are better than others at proclaiming the Word of God - that’s why we choose them to be our leaders.
It also doesnt make them 100% right all the time. If preacher, bishop, pope, priest thinks that then they are being arrogant and sinful.
Of course, but it would also be a very false humility to say, ā€œOh, I’m no better than anyone else.ā€ Of course they are better than us. We wouldn’t even bother to hire them if we could do all this stuff by ourselves, or if we could do it just as well as they do it.

Scripture alone again. This argument can go on and on forver! 😃
Not really. The scriptures say… believe the Word of God or die.

Hbr 4:12
For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

2Ti 3:16
All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Pro 15:32
He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.

Pro 15:10
Correction [is] grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: [and] he that hateth reproof shall die.

Of course they are better than other people. It does no good to pretend that we are all the same, because we’re not. Some people are better than others at proclaiming the Word of God - that’s why we choose them to be our leaders.

Hi,
I actually agree with you on most all points:thumbsup: 😃 Did the world just end:p

Anyway yes they are better then us but only in that they were given the gift of preaching that you and I (well at least not me)were not given. My spiritual gift is hospitality and service. I run a homeless ministry in my church and the one minister who oversees me told me he is glad I have the gift of mercy(Im not sure I see that gift in myself but he does) and hospitality because he doesnt. He is a great preacher but not good at serving. We were all given different spiritual gifts so some are just better then others in regards to their gifts.šŸ‘

Then we can safely say… Believe Jesus or die. Now, shall we go through John 6 again?
Please do… either start a thread with your opinion of what is meant in John 6… or do a search on this site, and save us time… then come forward with your beliefs.

ā€œā€¦unless you eat the Flesh of the Son of Man, you have no life in youā€¦ā€

ā€œā€¦ truly truly I say to youā€¦ā€

ā€œamen, I say to youā€¦ā€

Jesus takes the oath four times on this hard teaching…

and St Paul, the Catholic Apostle to the Gentiles warns the believers about the reality (not the symbolism) of the Bread and Wine… the Body and Blood of the Christ in whom they believe.

.

Hi,

As much as I would like to see this play out–could you guys start another thread so as not to derail this one.šŸ‘

You again. You disappear in our other discussion in Scripture thread on the subject of the ā€œ7 books.ā€

You know Catholics believe in Jesus. But belief is not enough. Peter said, ā€œRepent and be baptized everyone of you.ā€

Jesus before he ascended into heaven commanded the Apostles; ā€œBaptized them in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.ā€

He didn’t say recite the sinner’s prayer, which is not found in the Bible itself.

Nope they are all fallible. There are no infallible people. Show me in scripture where it says anyone is infallible. Jesus was the only one.😃
Since Jesus IS infallible, how is His infallible teaching preserved for the faithful to know with surety if there is no means by which this is to be done? (It’s been demonstrated over and over in these threads that reliance solely on one’s own interpretation of Scripture is unworkable.) Are we all left to our own limited devices to try to determine what is or isn’t authentic to His Self-Revelation? The answer is found in understanding the identity of the Church: the extension of Christ’s Incarnation in time and place. It is the means through which He infallibly preserves His Self-Revelation.

These two articles will flesh-out this topic for you:

Hello again .
There was unity in the early church because they were steadfast in the apostles’ doctrine. There will be unity in the church again when we get back to the apostles’ doctrine and forego the other doctrines, fads, and gimmicks that have crept in.
The above paints a pretty rosy picture. However, the early Church struggled. It struggles now.

The letters of Jude, John, James, and Paul make this struggle so clear.

So since some biblical interpretations are more vague than others, are we supposed to rely on the Catholic Church to guide us? There’s no other possible way to know the Truth?
I’m asking Catholics to explain this to me, please. :o
To answer your first question, Yes. The Catholic Church is the Church that wrote and compiled the New Testament. The Orthodox can trace their origins to Apostolic times, but they are basically limited to certain ethnic and national groups. The various Protestant churches are no more than 500 years old and are divided on what Scripture teaches.
To answer your second question. you can get *some *Truth from sources outside the Catholic Church, but you won’t get all the truth (and didn’t Jesus say he would send his Holy Spirit who would guide us into all truth?).
EWTN’s Mother Angelica gave an interesting example. She said to picture three tables. The first table is loaded with all sorts of food and drink. The second table has a dish with some meat, vegetables and a potato, as well as a slice of pie and a cup of coffee. The third table has nothing but a chicken carcass with hardly any meat on it.
The first table represents the Catholic Church with all its fullness. The second table represents non-Catholic (specifically Protestant) chuches. There’s one good meal, and it will nourish you, but its not as soul-satisfying as the buffet that the Catholic faith offers. The third table represents the modernists who deny the inerrancy of Scriptures, the Deity of Jesus, his death and resurrection, or anything miraculous. There’s nothing there to live on.

Can you show us where the bible says Jesus was infallible?
