Back when I was a big-time sexual sinner, I couldn’t see anything wrong with it. The person I was then would see the person I am now as a repressed prude. I believed in a lot of lies.
It was a long spiritual journey, and made more difficult by my not wanting to see my own actions as evil.
Now I understand that they were, no matter how much fun I may have had and shared. More importantly, I know that Jesus loves me now, and loved me then. (Have you ever heard the bluegrass song, “
the Ninety and Nine?” It’s based on the parable of the shepherd looking for his one lost sheep. It makes me cry every time.)
Whenever I talk to someone like me who has given up the sin, I say, “Party time in Heaven!” (See Lk 15:1-10)
Hetero- or Homosexual sinners - we were looking for the same thing: the unitive act. Chastity is a heavier cross to bear for the same-sex attracted, since we heteros have at least the possibility of marriage. (so, Mitex, :hug1:

)
I like to say that the Church will ask a lot, but she will never ask a homosexual to try to change their orientation. Just another reason to know that I’m Home in Rome.
When I had a Mass offered for my very best friend, a gay man who died of Aids around 1986, I made a promise to him and to God, to say a Rosary every day for the hearts of homosexuals to be opened to the love of Jesus and His Church.
