Why can't homosexuals see that their behavior is an abomination?

The issue is not political correctness or not being able to speak of homosexuality as the Church sees it but rather being able to speak about the truth in charity. When one understands that the truth should be spoken in love, then it will be made clear why words such as ‘‘abomination’’ and ‘‘disgusting’’ should not be used when talking about homosexuality. Humans communicate in language, and word choice and tone are very powerful conveyors.

I recently heard on EWTN radio the gospel being summed up as not only Conversion, but Compassion plus Conversion. Either one without the other is an extreme. But you cannot just call on and pick out the sin. Love and compassion must exist, and when they are present, they will take into account how to best help those enduring trials and temptations.

Sorry for expressing my honest thoughts and feelings, but isn’t that what CAF is for? How is this spreading hate? I alway espouse faith, hope and LOVE! Why accuse me otherwise?
I didn’t hear any love in your original post. As followers of Christ, our job is to love all and act with meekness and kindness. This does not mean approval. Let God do the judging and punishing. Our job is to love.

You merit it completely, given that the words I posted were yours. When asked why you “didn’t let this one go,” you posted what I quoted. The statement obviously refers to the conversation at hand, otherwise it would make no sense.

The alternative, which should not be provided to you at all, is to backpedal and “clarify” (retroactively, of course) that those words did not apply to the conversation at hand, in which case that statement was totally irrelevant to this thread and consequently you will also withdraw your only reason for “not letting this go,” raising the question of why you have continued to post in this thread at all.

The choice is yours.
Instead of trying to hide behind this spaghetti-tangle of non sequiturs, why don’t you simply follow Mitex’s example and be man enough to apologise for your plainly false accusation? I absolutely and plainly did not say at any time that anyone here was saying we should consider homosexuality as “positive and good.”

Sorry but you’re still not getting the point. This thread is not about “call on and pick out the sin”. It was not even really addressed to homosexuals at all, certainly not to active homosexuals. The question asked is why so many active homosexuals fail to see or are in denial of the fact (universally acknowledged here) that their actions are disgusting and abominable.

I think perhaps part of the answer is that people who know that the actions are disgusting and abominable refrain from saying so out of a misplaced PC desire to be “tolerant”. Compassion in all things always, certainly, but there is such a thing as false compassion. Sometimes we tell ourselves we are being compassionate, loving or tolerant by remaining silent or obscuring what needs to be said, when we are actually mainly motivated by cowardice.

Rest assured, nobody would accuse you of being compassionate, loving or tolerant.

Petergee, I have to call you out…

Don’t you understand that any post on any internet forum is addressed to everyone that reads the forum? I don’t see any sections of CAF that exclude any readers, and I’ve been around for years. (My first account disappeared, hence “Ruthie again.”)

In your post #113 on this thread you said,
I never accused anyone here of saying that we should consider homosexuality as “positive and good.”
Let me refer back to your post #107:
Because I get sick of this nonsense that every time someone mentions homosexuality as something other than positive and good, intelligent discussion is drowned by a chorus of kneejerk PC mantras of “you’re attacking me/them!”
That is not an accusation? Those of us who ask that homosexuals be treated as fellow human beings and sinners, deserving of compassion and love, are told that we are the “politically correct” who believe homosexuality is “positive and good.” Lemme think about that for a minute - yup. Accusation. :tsktsk:

Mitex, please ignore people like Mr. Sock and Mr. Gee. Please try to forgive their lack of charity. And hang on to me, and boy wonder, and catholic1seeks, and the rest of us. We are the majority here, I assure you, and we have your back. That’s why the uncharitable posts about homosexuality get so much attention!

Count me in as well! :kiss4you:

I’m certain I’ll never have to go to confession for showing someone too much love & compassion.

The fact that a question is not directly addressed to certain people does not mean that it is “excluding” them!

In any case apparently not many active homosexuals read CAF and none apparently have posted on this thread, so the question of “excluding” them hardly arises.

Absolutely not!! :banghead:
Those of us who ask that homosexuals be treated as fellow human beings and sinners, deserving of compassion and love
exactly as I have been asking
, are told that we are the “politically correct” who believe homosexuality is “positive and good.”
I told you nothing of the kind! :banghead:

I don’t know why you seem so determined to misrepresent me. My words are plain enough surely.

Count me in as well! :kiss4you:

We might have to confess to Someone eventually for falsely claiming (even to ourselves)that our cowardly actions were done out of love and compassion.

And you are a reader of hearts and minds? To assume that her actions are cowardly is presumptuous on your part.

When someone says please stop, your words are hurting me - only a bully would keep it up.

I feel sorry for you, actually.

I’m guessing you are often “misunderstood” and “mispresented” in real life as well. You just don’t get it… and that is sad.

ah, yes, and when you point a finger at another person, you have three fingers pointing back at yourself.

When someone says please stop, your words are hurting me - only a bully would keep it up.
So why are you keeping up these plainly false accusations?
I feel sorry for you, actually.
Thank you.
I’m guessing you are often “misunderstood” and “mispresented” in real life as well.
Not that often. But our Lord did warn us that this would happen to us when we follow Him and try to do as He did and follow His commandments.

his defense is valid – you’re reacting to the choice of words… which are definitely evocative (yet are cloaked in plausible deniability since they are taken from the bible) – you’re both right…

And you are a reader of hearts and minds? To assume that her actions are cowardly is presumptuous on your part.
I assume nothing. What part of “might” don’t you understand?

and when did “we” become “her”?

What do you mean by “plausible deniability”? You seem to be suggesting that I am deliberately implying some other meaning to my words other than what I say. For goodness’ sake, I have been asking these three over and over to take my words at face value. Yet they seem determined to somehow find some lack of compassion in them.

Sorry for expressing my honest thoughts and feelings, but isn’t that what CAF is for? How is this spreading hate? I alway espouse faith, hope and LOVE! Why accuse me otherwise?
I feel your pain, brother. Keep your chin up.
