You would have to ask an individual Baptist that you know.

Sadly, many Protestants seem to have misunderstandings about the Catholic faith 😦

Hello well I have exchanged some words with someone but not sure if they are Baptist or not I will copy and paste my answers and hers. She has a video on youtube and i’ll post the link if you guys want to watch it. She stared by saying that Hitler was a Roman Catholic and she wanted to base this as the CC being evil well that kind of bothered me and this was my response.

Me
You really need to get your facts strait girl. If your going to talk about the RCC do some research and dont come with that lame excuse that Hitler was RC and thats why the Church is bad.Hitler was going threw a different agenda which was greed and world domination so dont just blabber stuff out. wasn’t the Catholic Church that gathered all books to make the Bible? Don’t think just because you read the entire Bible your a big shot now. The RCC has had it for 2000+ years so trust me they know what they are doing.

Her
the “church” I’m not sure which “church” you are talking about. in churches are “bad” due to SIN.

Me
How about obeying and practicing the Ten Commandments. That is what keeps God happy and covers everything you have said.
May God Bless

Her
Nothing wrong with doing what the 10 commandments says. It was orginally given to the Isrealites. But if you want to be saved (for we are not under the law, but under grace) you must accept Christ and the gift through Him. Not the law

Me
What you mean just for the Israelites? Wasn’t Jesus a jew also from what I know we also obeyed the 10 commandments. And he formed his new alliance threw the Eucharist that is given in mass the bread being his flesh and the wine being his blood.

Her
of course Jesus obeyed them. He’s perfect! We are not under the law now for salvation, we are under grace. you should really really listen to the newer videos I have.

Me
Of course he is perfect and for us to enter Heaven we also have to be perfect. So in your newer videos do you still bash the Catholic Church? Why do you waste your time talking bad about the CC when there is people that don’t even believe in God. We believe in God and Jesus as our savior so there is nothing your can say that will shake my faith or what I believe in .So go preach to the non believers and explain to them who is God and why his son died for our sins.
God Bless

If you guys watch the video it might make more sense so here is the linkhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E47umN26HE8&feature=email

Sorry if I didn’t explain it that well its 12:10 at night but I know its no excuse it was just bugging me a bit.

God Bless good night.

That website was made by an atheist who enjoys making fun of Christianity and the Bible. I would stay away from such sites in the future… they are not made by people who love God, just those out to distort facts and destroy people’s faith by feeding them lies. Satan must be proud. Apparently his newest tactic is to convince people God doesn’t exist, and neither does anything outside of or that cannot be measured in a science lab.

fiec.org.uk/Default.aspx?tabid=640 provides a ‘real’ example of this sentiment.
I should add a disclaimer that I do not accept these views of the FIEC!
WOW! maybe they should tell us how they really feel…😉 i have never had a conversation with a Baptist, or other fundamentalist, where i could let my guard down. at least not in the real world. here its a different story. have found some with more open minds here, that are truly seeking the truth. but face to face? no. when approached by one where im at, i will kindly tell them im Catholic, and im not really interested in conversing about religion with them. (i like to give them a way out.) but if they persist…well im a former baptist, so im usually their worst nightmare. not my idea of a good evening out, but i wont sit there and let them malign Christ Church, my Mother, or my Catholic Brothers/sisters who i love in truth. Peace 🙂

Well some Baptists do say these things, but remember there are a LOT of churches of very different opinions who use the word Baptist so I’m not sure you can say that about them all.

To be honest, many of the ones I’ve been in are of this opinion, though.

You couldn’t be more right. There are no standard definitions of what a person must believe to call himself a Baptist. I spent the first thirty-something years of my life in a Baptist church that varied in its beliefs over time. We occasionally had activities in common with another Baptist church a few miles away that had some very notable disagreements with the faith we followed.

I often wondered about what animated some of the condemnations of the Church. Some of the statements were absurd on their face, i.e. claims that Catholics worship a dead Christ, Catholics think they can work their way to Heaven, the popes have 666 on their crowns, etc. And, no, I did not make those up.

I would take some of it back to fear of the unknown. If you don’t truly understand something, it can be unsettling. A little bad information can exacerbate those fears. The pastors who engage in Catholic bashing may be trying to convince themselves that they are right and that they are not fighting Christ’s creation.

It could also be a fear of declining membership. If the members go over the hill to cross the Tiber, there are fewer in the flock.

Can i answer a question with a question?
As a catholic you are used to certain traditions, baptists believe that the bible has more authority than man. Catholics believe that man has more authority than the bible!
Here comes the disagreement!
Now the question… catholics and orthodox baptise babies …where does this practice come from?

Ok
Not the bible! it cannot be found anywhere…
Do you read history?
Then if you do you can search and find out that this practice was used by pagans ONLY… and was adopted by catholics & orthodox…

I hope i answered your question.

Most Evangelicals think that Baptism is simply an outward sign of a profession of faith. They don’t think anything supernatural occurs during baptism. So, given their beliefs, it makes sense that Evangelicals think that only adults, who consciously proclaim Christ should be baptized. They consider it simply a public witness to their "“born again” decision and since babies can’t make that decision, they feel there is no reason for the “sign” of baptism until they can make such a decision.

Catholics don’t believe Baptism is only a sign. We believe something very profound and tangible happens during Baptism. We believe the Bible when it says that Baptism washes away sin. (Acts 22:16) So for us, it is not as much about what we give during baptism (i.e., a profession of faith) but it is about what we get, which is salvation. We believe this salvation is for babies too. Jesus said “let the little children come to me.” (Lk 18:16)

We didn’t choose to be born into humanity but we nevertheless received the grace of human life. Similarly, Catholics don’t think babies have to consciously choose Baptism in order to receive its grace.

We didn’t choose to be born into the sin of Adam, (caused by his disobedience), yet nevertheless we were born into it (original sin). In the same way, Catholics believe that as infants, we can receive the saving grace of Baptism that was won by Jesus’ obedience, without consciously choosing it.

We don’t ask a baby if it wants to eat. We just feed him or her. We don’t ask a baby if it wants its diaper changed, we simply change the diaper. We don’t ask a baby if it needs a bath, we simply give the baby a bath when it is dirty. We take these simple and logical actions to physically clean up a baby. Catholics think it is even more important to do the same thing spiritually, through baptism. We need to let our Lord wash away the “original sin” from the baby.
Code:
And Peter said to them, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children and to all that are far off, every one whom the Lord our God calls to him." (Acts 2:38-39)
Here we see that Baptism applies to children. Perhaps some Evangelicals might look at this text and say the kids in this passage are saved by the parent’s Baptism, but then the sentence would not say that the promise is for “all who are far off.” Surely, the adult Baptism does not save “all who are far off” also.

Now they were bringing even infants to him that he might touch them; and when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them. But Jesus called them to him, saying, ‘Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of God’ (Luke 18:15–16).

Here we see children being brought to Jesus before they were able to make a personal decision for Christ. In Greek it is *
Prosepheron de auto kai ta brepha
*. The Greek word brepha means “infants.” The Lord did not require these infants to make a personal decision for Christ.

Infant circumcision was the sign of Old Covenant.
Baptism is the sign of the New Covenant.
It makes sense that Baptism includes infants.

Under Jewish law, the 8 day old child didn’t have to make a profession of faith. He was part of a household of faith and was thus called by God, and therefore circumcised. Thank God for that! I shudder at the thought of being circumcised as an adult … OUCHHH!!!

The famous Evangelical theologian Frances A. Schaeffer also maintained that an infant should be baptised because of Baptism’s correspondence with circumcision.

Pagans baptize babies? Could you give me some sort of source? What of Baptist traditions? Alter calls, potlucks, church three times a week…

And about Hitler being Catholic, I saw a photo of him coming out of a church after Mass. He was born Catholic, but fell away, and later used it for his nefarious plans…But that didn’t last long.

I saw photos of German Catholic priests being brought up to the firing squad to be executed for opposing Nazism by their own native people.

Pave the Way Organization is the place to go to find out documented, factual and objective information on what the Catholic Church actually did during World War II. The Jews who head the organization do not understand why the Church doesn’t use these documents to defend themselves…same with Spanish Inquisition, but that only was made open in 2003.

Let me ask you all a different question: “Why do some Catholics and some Baptists ‘bash’ each other?” “Bashing” is certainly not limited to any one Christian denomination, and I have not found any denomination that is completely untainted by it. But why do any of you do it? If I were an atheist in here, I would go away saying, “I don’t think any of them are true followers of Jesus because there is no unity among them.”

Wrong! You are already on the path of falsehoods and lies about Catholicism. The Catholic Church never has taught man has more authority than the Word of God.
Here comes the disagreement!
Now the question… catholics and orthodox baptise babies …where does this practice come from?
Scripture and APOSTOLIC Traditions.

Ok
Not the bible! it cannot be found anywhere…
Wrong again! Scripture clearly states Paul baptized HOUSEHOLDS. The burdern of proof is on those who deny infant baptisms to confirm that in the first century, Jewish families did not include infants as part of the household. I have yet to read any reliable ancient source on the subject.
Do you read history?
Do you? Apparently not!
Then if you do you can search and find out that this practice was used by pagans ONLY… and was adopted by catholics & orthodox…
Pagans baptized? Sources please confirming pagans baptized infants.
I hope i answered your question.
Not exactly, but you sure left a lot of questions about your position.
