God let him become Catholic before anyone elseGenesis 5:27
And all the days of Methuselah were
nine hundred sixty and nine years
and he died
died in his 900s
I have seen stats that are pear reviewed from JOHN HOPKINS, I have not seen in the study ANYTHING about Catholics living longer, IT DID SAY, that overall Christians (Protestant/Anglican/Orthodox/Catholic) who attend regular worship services (defined in said study as at least 3 times a Month), what it seems to point to is this as people age, they get more prone to depression, HOWEVER communal activities (Churches being in focus here) helps alleviate this, along with the mental and physical stimulation. In turn they are more likely to be better nourished (a bane of the elderly even in the wealthy USA, they can afford to eat, they don’t “feel” like it. These things have a “positive” snowball effect, hence, preliminary studies point to longer lives of Christians, esp. women. They have better, mental, and physical health. Pax.What? More Catholics?? In the US, the highest % of Catholics in most states is 20-25%… In some states it is around 10% or even less…
i think Catholics live longer (aside from the Eucharist) because Catholics usually live “cleaner” lives… they don’t abuse their bodies, usually, with alchohol, cigarettes, fornication, birth control pills, (well, some of them don’t anyway…) etc…
Um, hello… Catholics can go to Mass every day…I, IT DID SAY, that overall Christians (Protestant/Anglican/Orthodox/Catholic) who attend regular worship services [live longer?] .
Most don’t, and according to the JH study your point is moot.Um, hello… Catholics can go to Mass every day…
so it stands to reason that if people live longer the more they attend “church”… daily Mass attendees would live the longest…
i read that she smoked till she was 100…en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeanne_Calment
I don’t know if this young lady was catholic but she smoked until she was 117.
don’t know who Jh is… but in any case, i already know that most don’t…Most don’t, and according to the JH study your point is moot.
Let’s consider that whole passage, as it seems Paul knew that, while he desired to be with Christ, it was better for those under his Christ-given authority that he remain on earth:What’s the big deal if Catholics live longer in this world. Consider the Scriptures:
Philippians 1:21
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Do you really believe you determine when you are to be born and when you will die? God is sovereign in life and in death.
John Hopkins…don’t know who Jh is… but in any case, i already know that most don’t…
Most Catholics aren’t even Catholic, objectively speaking.
like i said, i don’t recall where i got my statistics… but i am an intellectual snob, as it were, when it comes to my reading and don’t read anything that is not reliable… don’t waste my time…When you do research you find a pattern. Sounds more genetic that religious affiliation from my perspective.
i was just wanting to know if the Eucharist was the reason Catholics live longer… i tend to think so… I mean… what better Food could one ever hope to ingest??Curiosity…what brought up the questoin to begin with?
just tyrin to make the point that i don’t read trash… that’s all…And do you think you should be an intelectual snob?
hmm… didn’t say antyhing like THAT… don’t know you enough to say… besides, i believe everyone is intelligent in some way or another… Even retarded people have talents and strengths…Not sure why you say this??Am I not intelegent enough for your taste?![]()
No… percentage-wise, Catholics generally live longer…Statistics can be twisted oh so bad. And considering that Catholics make up a 5th of the worlds population…it may be accurate.
That’s why i stay un-married… don’t want to go through anything like divorce… The man who marries me is stuck with me for LIFE!But here’s something to kick aroudn…to give an example of misused statitstics. 50% of all marriages in in divorce. How many first time marriages stay together?
i am afraid of getting married… not because of divorce cause i don’t believe in divorce & wouldn’t marry someone who does (my husband would HAVE to be a devout, practicing Cahtolic)…. FEAR! is a useful tool utilized by Satan…and I’m afraid that our clergy and many in the Church are playing in the hands of the enemy by not understanding statistics…
I’m not catholic , nor protestant ,Give one or two reasons why you think Catholics live longer than Protestants (proven by statistics)?
Could be a coincedance? or could be that catholics eat a healthier diet?Give one or two reasons why you think Catholics live longer than Protestants (proven by statistics)?
I tend to think it is primarily the Eucharist… We eat Jesus…
If that sounds ghoulish, it is in total conformity with St. John 6:27-54…
Well, you can’t get any healthier than Jesus…Could be a coincedance? or could be that catholics eat a healthier diet?
You sound like a PhariseeWhat? More Catholics?? In the US, the highest % of Catholics in most states is 20-25%… In some states it is around 10% or even less…
