thus, it is important to sit down and think what had started the division. How did it happen? Why did it happen? Is there any good coming out from the division? Does it please God? How could we do now to unite us?..etc… If we can think that more and more then the unity is possible.
Oh I do not think that any of this pleases God. The bickering and all the ‘God loves me more than you’ has got to be getting on his nerves. I think that to agree to disagree is to unite so that ALL may know His love and not our faults. We are human. We think and feel differently because we come from different paths. But I cannot solve this whole mess that has gotten so tangled by men and women who are unable to listen. All I can do is love God with all of my heart, mind, and soul as Jesus commanded. 🙂
btw, nice singing - I checked out your songs. 🙂 Maybe you should include the lyrics for visitors to read. 👍
Thank you so much! It looks like a lot of people like ‘Sunlight’… I will try to post the lyrics! 😃

That is what we all should do. also, to love Him is to love His Creature.

Another thing I see out of this thread - if we all keep saying about honoring Virgin Mary as She is a very blessed woman, then we all would be better - focusing on the similarities then differences.
Thank you so much! It looks like a lot of people like ‘Sunlight’… I will try to post the lyrics! 😃
I used to be addicted to singing, but it wasn’t all about Christian music - it is more all about heart-breaking songs. I’ve quit singing for about 2 years. Besides, having allergy is hard to sing when my breath is short. 😃

Hi Sis! 👋

I say we write this one off to the same bad misunderstandings that fuel most all of the “Why do Catholics/Protestants/non-Catholics/ Moslems hate…” threads and posts.

First, it’s a fallacious premise based on a bad generalization, and second…it’s a waste of time.

I have yet to encounter an n-C who “hates” the Blessed Virgin though compared to Catholic veneration and devotion it could appear that way to Catholics in the same way that our veneration and devotion could appear to be “worship” to some of them.

Both conclusions are dead wrong.

As a pending Protestant convert to Catholicism, I thought the whole issue of Marian devotion would be a massive difficulty, but it wasn’t - partly because I read the difficult-to-get book by David Armstrong “A Biblical Defence of Catholicism”

I think Reformers fail to recognize that true Marian devotion only brings us closer to Jesus. We as Catholics are able to see the humanity of God incarnate when we honor our blessed Mother. We honor our Mother because Jesus Himself honered His Mother first. Lk 2:51 our Lord Jesus was obedient to Mary. Principalities and powers are subject to our God almighty and yet Jesus was obedient to His biological Mother! If Mary is the mother of God and Jesus is the head of the church, then isn’t she the Mother of the Church? We also have to remember that she always leads us to her Son Jn 2:5.
In my observation over the years, in a large Catholic area, Protestants, the devout kind anyway, fail to recognize that Marian devotion brings people closer to Jesus becuase they see no evidence of it. The people I have known who are closets to Jesus are usually Protestants without any kind of Marian devotion. My moher was probably the most devout, close to Jesus Catholic I ever knew and she lived over 7 decades without being into Marian devotion at all. I never saw her pray the Rosary. She rarely missed mass and loved Jesus. I see a Mary on a half shell statue in about 1 out of of every 10 yards in my area. The families I have known and grown up with that seemd to be very Mary focused seemed to have closer relationships with Mary but it never seemed to translate into closer relationships with Jesus or lead to a very Christian home beyond the externals.

You cannot see what is not evident. I hear this claim all the time on the internet. I have never seen it to be evident in the real world. I am not saying it isn’t I am growing closer to Mary all the time. However, I don’t blame anyone for failing to recognize something that is hard to prove or observe. Particularly to people who already love Jesus.

Good point. This thread is more evidence that internet may being doing more harm than good and doing more to polarize than to bring together.

I think what this comes down to is that most Catholics are cultural Catholics. They aren’t Catholic because they have strong faith, or put that much into it, or anything of the sort. They’re Catholic because they were born Catholic.

In the same way that lots of Irish people have “IRL” stickers on their cars or that lots of people of other cultural backgrounds have things in their yards, or on their walls, or on their cars that they see as a signifier of their background, many of these rather unconcerned Catholics have Mary statues because, well, Mary is the “Catholic symbol.”

Judging Marian devotion by these people is not that much different from judging Christianity from all the people that wear crosses on their necks, or that own Bibles. It’s just not a fair sample.

This thread is a joke!
We don’t dislike dishonor or hate Mary the mother of Jesus.
We may have problems with Catholic’s Mary, but not Jesus’ Mary.

I don’t think it is a joke. It is true that some protestants need to be more humble and see how they think of Mary. They have little honor of Her.

Mary is Mary. As Catholic, we honor her for who she is. For some protestants, they think they could’ve been Mary if God chose me too; so, there is no big deal honoring her.

You may not like those Protestants, but there are those out there who are not like you.

btw, welcome back. I haven’t seen you for awhile. 🙂

Why should she be offended ? Isn’t love of God more important to her than our notions ? She can’t be very holy or heavenly-minded if she is so easily bothered as that. Or is her reputation so important to her, that concern for it overshadows her love for God ? That would make her far less holy, far less mortified, far less dead to self, far more full of ego, than any of the saints - I refuse to believe she is like that.

No one is “downgrading” her - the Gospel is about Jesus Christ, not Mary; that is the simple fact of the matter. To say that she is not its central figure is no insult at all - she isn’t. Jesus Christ is - as is shown by the 700+ times He is mentioned, which is an indication that He is important to it 🙂

All of us are unique - not just Mary; each one of us has a purpose that we alone can fill, just as she had. She had her vocation, we have ours. as Cardinal Newman points out. ##
Who said she is the central figure? That is false.
But how many times Jesus said you have to love one another, to respect your parents. Does this make them the central figures?

You have a problem honoring Mary when we Catholics acknowledge Mary as our spiritual Mother. The Ten Commandments made it clear, “Honor your mother and your father.”

The honor we gave her as a son and daughter would their mother. The Catholic’s Mary is Jesus’ Mary.

You deny this, you will greatly upset Jesus Himself. Since Jesus gave us His Mother at foot at the Cross.

Why do you ridicule the First Tabernacle of the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the Womb? The first living Ark of the New Covenant. The Mother of God, the Son. The Woman Clothed with the Sun. The woman who proclamed, "All Generation will call me blessed.

Mary fulfills the OT Queen Mother, since the Jewish Kings had mothers as their Queen. Did not Jesus who inherited the Kingdom of His father David? In this Kingdom, he inherited a monarchy? Jesus is the Annointed One of God, the Messiah. Kings are annointed, He is King and Like a Jewish King, he granted His Mother queenship.

There is not warm of honoring Mary. We do not give her the same adoration to God, we give her honor due to her role as Queen Mother. Just as Queen mother intercede in behalf of the the King, so do Mary. She can intercede for us.

At the wedding feast at Cana in fact intercede in behalf of the servants.

On the third day, there was a marriage at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there; Jesus also invited to the marriage with his disciples. When the wine gave out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine. " And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what you have to do with me?” My hour has not yet come,’ His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” Now six jars were standing there, for Jewish rite of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons. Jesus said to them, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. He said, “Now draw some out and take it to the steward of the feast.” So they took it. When the steward of the feast tasted the water now became wine and did not know where it came from.”

Well this passage clearly show that Jesus consider Mary’s request. How dare YOU claim our Mary is not Jesus’ Mary. You who are but fallible man! Son of the Protestant Fathers with their false doctrines…

I don’t mean to put this in the wrong context but it seem to me that most Protestants who like to distant themselves to Mary, hate Mary.
This is a very uncharitable post.

I know of no non-Catholics who hate Mary. Not one.

If not believing all extra-Biblical and developed dogmas of Catholicism regarding Mary is “hatred,” then you need to reevaluate your perspective.

I honored MY Mother and Father.
How can Mary be my spiritual Mother is she omnipresent?
The honor we gave her as a son and daughter would their mother. The Catholic’s Mary is Jesus’ Mary.
I disagree, the church considers Mary the dispenser of Grace and a co-mediator, this is giving her way more honor than one would their earthly mother.
You deny this, you will greatly upset Jesus Himself. Since Jesus gave us His Mother at foot at the Cross.
Jesus gave Mary over to the hands of her nephew John! Prove I am upsetting Jesus by giving all my prayer directly to him instead of through Mary.
The first living Ark of the New Covenant. The Mother of God, the Son. The Woman Clothed with the Sun. The woman who proclamed, "All Generation will call me blessed.
What happened after the HS left the ark and the temple?
Devotion to the ark dissipated.

She’s in Heaven. Heaven is omnipresent.
Not according to John the baptist…
John 3:
31"The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth. The one who comes from heaven is above all.

John 3:

So, you don’t believe there are any human beings in Heaven?

What do you believe happened at the time of the Resurrection? What was the purpose of the Resurrection?

We Catholics believe that the gates of Heaven were opened up for human beings to enter in there, when Jesus rose from the dead in His human body.

I honored MY Mother and Father.
How can Mary be my spiritual Mother is she omnipresent?
She is in heaven, with all the saints, the Apostles. In heaven, they are outside Space and Time. Through my baptism, I am a brother of the Lord Jesus Christ, I see him as my spiritual brother. Since Jesus is my spiritual brother, His mother is my spiritual mother.
I disagree, the church considers Mary the dispenser of Grace and a co-mediator, this is giving her way more honor than one would their earthly mother.
Because she became the first living tabernacle. She is not the dispenser of grace. She is Mary, full of grace. The greeting granted to her by Archangel Gabriel. We do not put her above God. You just assumed that the Church does. Mary receives her grace from God, who is the fount of all Grace.
Jesus gave Mary over to the hands of her nephew John! Prove I am upsetting Jesus by giving all my prayer directly to him instead of through Mary.
John is not the nephew of Mary. Where is that in the Bible? John is Son of Zebedee and Salome.
What happened after the HS left the ark and the temple?
Devotion to the ark dissipated.
Gabriel said this to Mary, “The Holy Spirit will overshadow you.” This indict the Sckinah Glory of God. The Ark appeared again in the Revelation in 11:19-And the temple of God was opened in heaven: and the ark of his testament was seen in his temple, and there were lightnings, and voices, and an earthquake, and great hail.

which is followed by Revelation 12:1-5, And a great sign appeared in heaven: A woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars: 2 And being with child, she cried travailing in birth, and was in pain to be delivered. 3 And there was seen another sign in heaven: and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads, and ten horns: and on his head seven diadems: 4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to be delivered; that, when she should be delivered, he might devour her son. 5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with an iron rod: and her son was taken up to God, and to his throne.

This woman is Mary. The new Ark.

John is not the nephew of Mary. Where is that in the Bible? John is Son of Zebedee and Salome.
Salome is Mary’s sister!

see…

**John 19:25 **(New King James Version)

25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus 1.)His mother, and 2.)His mother’s sister, 3.)Mary the wife of Clopas, and 4.)Mary Magdalene.

Compared to Mark 15:
40Some women were watching from a distance. Among them were 4.)Mary Magdalene, 3.)Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and 2.) Salome.

So including 1.)Mary, Christ mother that’d be 4.
also…
Matt 27:
55Many women were there, watching from a distance. They had followed Jesus from Galilee to care for his needs. 56Among them were 4.)Mary Magdalene, 3.) Mary the mother of James and Joses, 2.)and the mother of Zebedee’s sons.

And again 1.) Mary His mother…

Salome was the mother of James and Joses, wife of Zebedee and sister to Mary mother of Christ.

Essentially John was given the care of Aunt Mary upon Christs’ crucifixion.
