Why do you feel socialism is bad?

Governments are compacts between tax payer and officials- they have no more power than the people allot to them.

Christ sought to spread the Christain morality- where in this moral code is compulsory charity?

The divine right of kings has been dead for a long, long time.
Christ is our King. Let us serve Him! He is in everyone so let us not prevent social programs that will help Him.

I love all those so-called “happiest-in-the-world” polls/indexs, whatever. What they fail to disclose however is how each end of the “happy” spectrum has something in common – a deteriorating belief in God.

The “happiest” country, Sweden, is amongst the highest percentage-wise in non-believing people of the world. The EU, as a whole, is amongst the locations of the world with the highest concentration of non-believers and they’re so “happy”.

The Deceiver has done its work extremely well. God has been traded for worldly comfort in the “happy” countries. God has been nearly eliminated in the unhappiest of countries. The deception is this: sell the unwary a boatload of false promises: socialized health, socialized prosperity, and socialized justice. Give them just enough to believe it and watch Satan pull it all away as billions become enslaved.

Reading material: ec.europa.eu/public_opinion/a…_report_en.pdf; (have a look at page 11-ish)

The situation is much worse in China and the Russian Federation.

An illustration from 2005 which illustrates percentages of “non-believers” in Europe:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2a/Europe_No_Belief.png

Sweden, France, are Switzerland are so “happy”. They have no idea what’s coming and refuse to believe it. Familiar?

Sweden and Switzerland were neutral in World War 2. Although the reasons why are somewhat complex dating back to earlier history, in the end they were willing to accept either outcome. Sweden was happy during that time, however, to build its own defenses during WW2 and let others do the fighting. Interestingly, there was a contribution by Sweden to that war effort – shipping iron ore to the European Axis aggressor.

No thanks.
I am a happy Canadian!! Praise the Lord we are socialist!!!

I work in my parish’s St. Vincent De Paul food pantry. I have actually seen the face of Jesus in the poor [especially the children] who come to us for food. If I had left this to some f#@$%&*ing politician and his “social justice” program, I would have never encountered Jesus, nor would the bureaucrat administering the program who probably would not even look for Him or even believe in Him.
Very good. You see how precious they are. Now would you take actions that would prevent them from getting the health care they need.

There were budget surpluses during the Democratic Clinton years, but there were massive and huge unprecedented budget deficits during the Republican Bush years according to the Office of Management and Budget. Certain programs not included in the Congressional Budget led to a slight increase in the federal debt during the Clinton years, even when the Congressional Budget showed a surplus.
The Clinton figures for the budget “surplus” were all bogus! Clinton and the White House beat the data until the data confessed. Clinton lied. Look up the data from the Federal Reserve if you do not believe me.

Praise the Lord indeed! He has permitted each person subject to Socialism to carry an incredibly burdensome cross. Carry it well, faithfully and without complaint.

Ah! Actions such as promoting and encouraging each of us to give to private charities of money, time and/or materials? Neither “action” nor “promote” mean ownership.

Evil actions or good actions?

Abortion must be treated as a separate issue from universal health care and education.

It is a crime to use the abortion issue to deprive people of their rights to health care and education.

Using the abortion issue to prevent the meeting the health care and educational needs of a nation is morally criminal.
Poverty and abortion are not separate issues!

There are many who praise Mother Theresa for her work with the poor. However, they do not share her opposition to abortion. **Failure to understand her opposition to abortion is also a failure to understand her work for the poor. **The two concepts are inseparable. ****

Mother Theresa’s understanding of poverty was much more profound than most of us realize. She would often say that we were made to love and be loved. Poverty is the failure to love. The height of poverty is the failure to recognize another person as a human being, and legally destroying that human being.

What about the poverty of the unborn? The unborn babies are the weakest and the most defenseless. Unborn babies are “out-of-sight and out-of mind.” They do not speak. They do not march, and they do not stand up for their rights.

From a moral perspective not all issues are qualitatively equal. Some values carry more weight than others. Some values are more fundamental than others. There is justification for placing more emphasis on some issues than other issues, and there is justification for placing more emphasis on some issues at certain times. Life is the condition necessary for all the good works that we may do. Ignoring the problem of abortion is to misunderstand the nature of the threat of abortion.

Let’s hire 100 private detectives to canvass the purchases of 100 able-bodied people who want others to pay for their healthcare. If they are buying only basic food and basic clothing and no weekend party supplies, I’ll agree we should pay for more healthcare. Will you agree to take that deal?

Ours is more of a poverty of morality than of money. Show men and women God’s Covenant for marriage and get rid of the glorification of sex, drugs, and violence in the media, and we’ll have tons of love and fun the way it was meant to be. It works the same for third world countries.

Christ is our King. Let us serve Him! He is in everyone so let us not prevent social programs that will help Him.
The government using someone else’s money to help someone is not ‘us’ helping someone any more than the government falsely imprisoning someone is us falsely imprisoning someone- if you want to take credit for the good, you must accept responsibility for the bad.

Hello there! I’m a supporter of the United States becoming a socialist democracy, and having systems such as socialized health care.

Looking over this forum, most (if not all) of the members are strongly anti-socialist. Why?

Note: I do understand that abortion is evil if not done for (both physical and mental) medicinal reasons. If abortion is not funded, at all, would you be in favor of it?
How can you have a socialist democracy? The way communism manifests itself into a democracy is via socialism. Socialism is gradually implemented and most people don’t realize they have a communist government until it is too late. Socialism comes from people being too lazy to participate in their government. National government tightens the noose around our apathy until we are choked by a communist government. We have way too much socialism as it is. The saddest part is that we are so stubborn and apathetic to realize that we asked for it. We can’t even get married, drive, or operate a business without the governments permission. Kinda makes me think we are a STATE CAPITALIST government… Formally known as true Communism. May God protect all of those who are lost at sea on the CITIZEN SHIP.

How can you have a socialist democracy? .
It is going to depend as always on how socialism is defined. A more moderate form of socialsim than what you are thinking about, will admit democracy.

This may have been true in the past when socialists were unaware of what went on in the USSR and China and were deluded into thinking that they were some sort of utopia. These forms of communism were totalitarian dictatorships in disguise. The idea of communism is seen in the Bible.

“44All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need”. Acts 2:44-45

*32All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. 33With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all. 34There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, **brought the money from the sales 35and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed *to anyone as he had need. Acts 4:32-35

The story of Ananias and Saphira in Acts 5 shows them both dropping down dead after pretending that they were giving everything from the proceeds of the sale when in fact they were keeping some of it back.

That one is encouraged to give all can also be seen in the gospels were Jesus compares unfavourably the very generous gifts of the rich to the few pence of the widow

*41Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. 42But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins,[j]worth only a fraction of a penny.[k]

43Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, *"I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 44They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on." Mark 12:41-44.

So while Catholicism has perceived the danger of anti religion in state communism - it can hardly object to it as an economic system as that sytem is one the Apostles devised within a religious setting. The Catholic church has been more tolerant of capitalism. But just as Marxist communism has its evils so also does Capitalism. As a system it encourages a spirit of prostitution , in the sense that people see their value in terms of money. It also encourages taking advantage of the weak as those with most capital can arrange the best deals. Capitalism doesn´t encourage a spirit of Holy Poverty. How many Catholics in the USA would be prepared to give all their money to the church and allow the church to give each according to their needs. Very few - the attractions of Capitalism I suspect will come first.

Well lets see boys and girls…USSR meant…the union of soviet socialist republic of russia…there was no such a thing as the nazi party, that word was thought up when the buddies of Stalin turned on him…but it was …the national socialist workers party of Germany ,same with the fascists…all of these gangsters who take over a nation like to use this word because of a nice caring sound that social has!!! The obvious answer boys and girls is check our shores, the whole world wants to come here…and most seem to over our open borders…europe is socialism in full stride and the taxes taken out of their salaries is startling…socialism is communism is a tyranny…try going to cuba or china and check it out for yourself…send me a card and if you dont like what is happening over there, dont,DONT say it in your card…the tolerant ones are not so tolerant in real life only portrayed as such in hollyweird…all the best…God bless America…Pas

Poverty and abortion are not separate issues! I do not think that we should start with feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and housing the homeless.

Let’s start with opposition to abortion. There are many who praise Mother Theresa for her work with the poor. However, they do not share her opposition to abortion. Failure to understand her opposition to abortion is also a failure to understand her work for the poor. The two concepts are inseparable.

Socialism has a split personality. On one hand it promotes the forced redistribution of wealth through government intervention. On the other hand, it supports the murder of the poorest of the poor, unborn human people.

The divine right of kings has been dead for a long, long time.
The divine right of kings is alive and well today and exists on college campuses. It’s called tenure. The academy is where ideas originate … ideas like America should be under socialism and that only intellectuals should govern.

We also have volunteer doctors for that.

Checkmate.
There are not enough volunteer doctors. Also why would you expect doctors to carry the entire burden of looking after the health of the ones that cannot afford to pay. That is not fair to them, nor the patients. It is a group or national responsibility to the individuals that cannot pay. Trying to duck this responsibility is selfish and very ungodly.

If you loved the poor you would be happy for programs by the governement to help them.
The problem is the government of the United States does not help the poor in this country with social programs. The government only enables those who are not willing to do for themselves.

I realize that there are those who may fall on hard times - myself included - that may benefit from social programs, but the majority of people that are on welfare are fully capable of obtaining job skills - but why should they get a job and provide for themselves and get off of the government dole when they can sit at home and continue collecting money from government handouts? Why would they not want to continue to use their EBT (Elctronic Benefit Transfer) cards in front of me at Wal-Mart to purchase their goods when I am having to use my after tax money to buy my goods.

And Seeker, do you not reside in Canada anyway? Why do you even care about what we do here in the United States?

It is not the right of anyone to force those who do not wish to be “their brother’s keeper” to do so. Jesus never forced his will on anyone and neither does God. For you to say that anyone that is ducking this responsibility is selfish may be true but God gave us all free-will to do so. We all have a moral responsibility to our fellow man but not through force or coercion of government. That breeds contempt and bad feelings towards those who do in fact need the help to begin with.

If the United States would pass the Fair Tax everyone would be able to take care of themselves - even the poor! Do not take my word for it, read the book by Congressman John Linder and Neal Boortz as well as visiting the website for the Fair Tax - www.fairtax.org

Pax.

If Jesus preached one thing and then did another, how many people in the world would seize upon something like that as a way to invalidate the idea of Christianity?

Well here you go, Canadian-socialist-health-care supporters.

Canadian Premier travels to US to have heart surgery

From the article:
Mr. Williams’ decision to leave Canada for the surgery has raised eyebrows over his apparent shunning of Canada’s health-care system.
It was never an option offered to him to have this procedure done in this province,” said Ms. Dunderdale, refusing to answer whether the procedure could be done elsewhere in Canada.
Well this begs the question, doesn’t it? Why doesn’t he just have this done in the system that is supposed to be so good that the USA needs to duplicate it? The answer is obvious: it isn’t available. Why not? I’ll leave that to the socialists to explain.
