My friend. Its not as addictive as nicotine or even alcohol. In fact, nicotine is one of the most addictive chemicals. More so than cocain. How many people die each year from their tobacco addictions or alcoholism and how many people die from smoking cannabis? If cannabis is to stay illegal, then tobacco and alcohol should logically follow suit. Cannabis is a strong pain reliever without the fear of strong physical addiction. This is extremely helpful. Doctors all over the country are prescribing cannabis for their patients as a better alternative. Some states are legalizing the use of medicinal cannabis (just recently Rhode Island). Don’t sit there and tell me that doctors all over the country would prescribe medicinal cannabis if it were harmful. There are rare cases of people with a family history of mental disorders developing psychosis from cannabis use. If you are one of these rare people, the doctor will not prescribe it for you. Its as simple as that. In fact there is just as much of a risk of developing some kind of problem using aspirin, ibuprofen, or tylenol.
I want to understand your argument. Are you suggesting that doctors only do what is moral? Are you trying to say if many doctors all over the country prescribe a drug or a procedure that it is moral? Are you saying that if not many but hundreds, no thousands let’s say 4,000 doctors average every day prescribe a drug or a procedure it is moral?
Can you point to a US Government study or study done by a reputable institute that uses scientific controlled method that proves your assertions that Marijuana is or is not addictive or harmful?
I will assert to you that on average everyday doctors in the United States prescribe abortion for 4,000 of their patients. I will further assert that abortion is always bad for the small human that is being killed. Going on I will assert that abortion is always bad for the mother of the small human that is being killed. Lastly I will assert that always and everywhere that a doctor prescribes abortion, it is a grave moral evil.
A further point and I am sure it is just a foible on my part and I am sure you are not trying to fall in to relativism but is seems strange that you would substitute the work cannabis for marijuana. Before you flame me I know that marijuana is just the street name for cannabis. My point and I am sure it is not your intent, but the relativists try confusing the topic by finding and equivalent for the name of something they are trying to push to the mainstream.
