That’s a joke. The WELS is in no sense “mainline”–it is a tiny, ultra-conservative group that does not recognize anyone else. They’re anti-everybody, not just Catholics.
I will do you the credit of assuming that you are extremely ignorant about Protestants. The only other alternative is that you are being deliberately malicious.

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t think I would describe WELS as a mainline Protestant Church. If you want a mainline Protestant Church, think about the United Methodist Church, the Presbyterian Church (USA), the Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Episcopal Church, etc. [Sorry, posted before seeing Edwin’s comments above…he addressed the point already].

I was brought up an “Idependent Baptist” and we go by the true Bible which contains only 66 books. We see true Baptism as being a public confession of you having “salvation” before hand. Faith alone in Jesus leads you into Heaven. The thief on the cross who believed in Jesus as the Lord went on to be with Christ that day in Paradise aka as Heaven. Jesus plainly states that no one sees his Kingdom lest they be “Born Again” which is belief in Jesus and repenting and then having the Holy Spirit come down on you.

Where in your “true Bible which contains only 66” books do you (who admits in your bio to having no religion ) do you see the positive statement of faith alone???
You won’t even find it in the full 73 books of the Canon… you know the canon that all of Christianity accepted until the reformation…
Also, your apparent lack of instruction in Hebrew idioms has led to your false interpretation… not suprising.

The apocrophy books (i belive that’s how it’s spelled) were never accecpted by the Jews or were they “inspired” by God. Jesus plainly states that man is to die once and then face judgment. I don’t go by “religion” because I am a born again Christian who believed in Jesus with my heart before he sent the Holy Spirit to live in it.

It’s a wonder then, that these “apocrypha” (THAT is how you spell it… it was a term not coined for these books until the Protestant revolt) somehow found their way into the Septuagint version of the OT that Jesus himself read from!
Also, it’s pretty cute how you say they’re not inspired, as if it were a fact.

i would like to have a catholic explain to me how there is anything called purgatory? the thief on the cross believed in Jesus and was told by Christ that he would be in Paradise that day and the guy did no works or have Baptism to get in him there. Aslo, Jesus plainly states that man is to die once and then face judgment. The Bible makes it clear that Jesus is the only mediator between us and God.

I am not asking any loaded questions. If you cannot answer any questions don’t say that i’m trying to load them. Jesus had half brothers and half sisters and they were mentioned in the Bible. All that I’m getting at is that catholics teach different than what the Bible teaches. Jesus referred to Mary as “woman” in scripture and did not show her any reference above the disciples.

. If you wish people to answer your question, please open a new thread. By doing that, we all respect the original poster’s question without derailing the topic. This is hard to avoid as it had already happened in the past. A post consists of so many topics that people would find it hard to follow. Sometimes the moderator allows it to happen as long as we do it with love; most of the time, the mod will slit up the topic. I truly believe that you are singling me out because there are no answers to my questions and you feel that you have been led astray in your catholic beliefs. I am only pointing out truths of the Bible, nothing more, nothing less. You don’t have a problem seeing a thread posted “why not speak out againts Protestants?” So, it is fine to question the protestant belief but not the catholic belief?
