Oh…sweet! We are now done with with the happy clappy? I was not informed…

Same here. I think humans have always died. The fall had more to do with alienation from God. Just as we are now reconciled but still die.

To a certain extent I agree. However, I believe that death is part of alienation from God.

The Church teaches that death was not a part of Crearion, that it entered the world through sin, and that this part of original harmony has not been restored. (From the Catechism of the Catholic Church—I added the bold.)

413 "God did not make death, and he does not delight in the death of the living. . . It was through the devil’s envy that death entered the world" (Wis 1:13; 2:24).

418 As a result of original sin, human nature is weakened in its powers, subject to ignorance, suffering and the domination of death, and inclined to sin (this inclination is called “concupiscence”).

CCC405
It is a deprivation of original holiness and justice, but human nature has not been totally corrupted: it is wounded in the natural powers proper to it, subject to ignorance, suffering and the dominion of death, and inclined to sin - an inclination to evil that is called concupiscence". Baptism, by imparting the life of Christ’s grace, erases original sin and turns a man back towards God, but the consequences for nature, weakened and inclined to evil, persist in man and summon him to spiritual battle.

I will only say this once and then go hide:
It is possible that the early Church in its simplicity of faith took the Genesis creation accounts as literal historical events. This could have persisted through the ages and subsequent teachings were then forced to agree for consistency. But in actuality the Genesis narratives could be completely myth.

Try not to fall into the trap of thinking everything that isn’t scientific fact, isn’t true. The term “truth” was banded around long before the scientific method was established:

That’s not allowed on CAF. Know the rules.

And then finally there are the apologists geeks who can site chapter and verse of the Baltimore Catechism and other Church documents to justify any stance they may be taking on a particular topic, even if their stance doesn’t seem to be a very compassionate one by secular standards.
If you cannot utilize the Catechism then there’s no point in being Catholic! We are not striving for secular standards. The truth is the truth, take it or leave it.

The OP makes some excellent points about the conversations on this forum. I have been monitoring and participating on several threads for a couple of months now as multiple posters (I have used up to 4 different names at a time.)
And what is your motivation for being here? Besides masquerqding as different people?

I’ve suspected that this has been happening. It fundamentally undermines the discussions on the Forum. The last several weeks I’ve noticed an increase in combative posting. It’s likely these “pretenters” sowing dissent and creating unrest.

The truth is the truth, take it or leave it.
No that’s just fundamentalism. The truth has a context and we / the Church need to constantly interpret faith because it does not exist in a vacuum.
