CardiB did some kind of interview with Joe Biden. So, are the Dems legitimizing this woman and her song lyrics?
Why are they promoting her? I basically think of her as a porn-pusher at this point.
Don’t really see how this thread has to be about Democrats, geez. Celebrities align themselves with politicians all the time and nobody really believes that it means that politicians like or even care for their work. It just means they’ll take whatever promo they can get from celebrities.

As a non American, I’m more bothered with the fact that teens are looking up to the same people as adults. As I mentioned earlier, we used to have pop stars that are tailor-made for a teen audience. While obviously not all teens cared for these singers, it definitely gave parents a milder headache than this.

put something like this out into society and market it to teenagers.
The song isn’t marketed to teenagers specifically, it’s just that teenagers nowadays are consuming adult content. There’s no such thing as a teen market anymore.
Men have created art, literature, and music with the goal of objectifying women for centuries
This is true.
Maybe it’s time women start embracing their sexual nature?
How and why?

And if their reclaiming of their sexual nature perfectly aligns with the male objectification, what’s the point? Where’s the benefit?

I’ve said this on the forums before, but say you have a Playboy model. In scenario A, you have a male photographer/male staff telling a nervous naked woman to pose for the cover. She feels uncomfortable but they don’t care. In scenario B, you have female staff and a confident naked woman willing and proud to post.

In both scenarios, you get the same result. A naked woman on the cover meant for the (mostly male) masses to consume. While the latter empowers the model…it only empowers the model doesn’t it. It really doesn’t help the rest of us.

I’m not blind to the struggles of female sexuality and I understand why some women feel the need to be explicit. Sometimes the message of modesty and chastity can be twisted and be suffocating. But the current solution isn’t really empowering for women. It’s only empowering to them.

The current solution seems more like a “you can’t fire me, I quit” solution, lol. “you can’t objectify me, because I’m already doing it!”

I guess the satisfaction comes from the fact that these men are angry they don’t have the power, but beyond that I can’t see the benefits.

They are still consumers. Which means there is a market for teenagers. Whether or not companies are foolish enough to market bad things to teenagers or not doesn’t mean that particular demographic market doesn’t exist.

Art doesn’t have the goal of objectifying women sexually. That’s not what art is. If that’s the goal then it’s not art, it’s pornography.

Some people today tend to call everything “art” so they can get away with offending other people. It’s a passive aggressive form of othering. If the point of the “art” is to objectify, shock, or offend then it’s not art. It’s just a form of aggression.

Them being consumers does not mean that the song is being marketed TO them. It’s free access. A 5 year old or a 90 year old can find it if they want to. When it comes to music, there isn’t a line between teenager and adult as they’re seen as one market, simply because all of them have social media.
Art doesn’t have the goal of objectifying women sexually. That’s not what art is.
Read the sentence again. The poster is talking about certain men creating art with the goal of objectifying women. The person behind it. Art in itself is pretty much neutral.

You gave art a rather subjective meaning so that your sentence above would be true. Unfortunately, art can have all sorts of meanings and motives.

As long as we can say, ‘well that piece of art sucks’ and that calling it art doesn’t mean it has to be praiseworthy or even respected, we should be fine.

“Men have created art, literature, and music with the goal of objectifying women for centuries.”

Like Dante and Beatrice in The Divine Comedy?

Is this the song by Cardinals B and didn’t she interview Joe Biden? Why would the democrats have Joe Biden sit down with someone who is known for singing songs that are sexually graphic as well as performing in videos that leave little to the imagination?
It almost seems like they are giving the okay for this type of music. I don’t care how many awards she has won, the lyrics to this song are just disgusting.
Obviously my spellchecker reset what I typed on my new tablet!! Grrr!! I try to catch this when it happens.
Certainly Cardinals B is not what I intended to post.
C a r d I was the name.

Why should this be a double standard? I detest the song because it denigrates all women and is degrading. What has happened to decency?

Why would Republicans support a guy who brags about grabbing women “by the pssy” and coming up to then “like btches”?

This isn’t a partisan thing. Everything has gotten coarser. No one has the moral high ground here.

Steaming. Absolutely, positively scandalous.

That’s just bad songwriting, folks.

The faith-based charities are still up and running and doing a great ministry, but the public is not connecting these organizations and church-based charities with “Christianity” and “Jesus Christ.”
The last administration in Washington began the process of crushing Catholic and other faith-based charitable organizations, the the next one may finish the job. Biden has already said he will re-impose the HHS abortifacient Mandate on the Little Sisters and others. And that will just be the beginning.

stpurl, above, has it right. We may be about to see paganism installed in this country with a vengeance.

He didn’t actually say he did those things. He said one COULD when it comes to groupies.

But even if he did it, that’s nothing compared to forcing Catholic charities to provide abortifacients or be driven out of their ministries. That’s what Obama attempted, and Biden promises to reinstate it. Trump had let the Little Sisters and other charities be true to their faith.

Maybe nobody has the moral high ground, but only one candidate wants to crush Catholic charities and make every American pay for abortions both here and overseas. Biden has promised those things and he means it.

It’s a trash song written by trashy people for a trashy culture. There’s nothing to defend and explain. There’s no enlightenment. If you like it and think it’s somehow positive, you need Jesus.

We really don’t need to do the standard recitation of the “What about Biden and the Little Sisters of the Poor?!” thing. I was making a much more narrow point. I really don’t have the energy to read another pro-Trump/anti-Trump food fight thread.

That was a small clip from an interview 99% of America had never heard until the liberal media brought it from the graveyard and aired it on all their shows hour after hour, day after day for political purposes. Cardi is a performer and her music is on the radio, performed in concerts and awards shows and this is not a song with one line of lyrics that are sexual or pornographic. To compare what Trump said during a forgettable interview with a forgettable host is very juvenile. Cardi is a current famous pop singer
and regularly sings and performs and makes a living
from sexually graphic lyrics.

I listened to the song to see what the rumpus was. Suffice it to say, the singers are definitely not wife material. No wit, no clever rhymes, and as hip-hop/pop it was banal though the same can be said of most of those genres.

Then my suggestions on Youtube went back to my usual, starting with Hail and Kill by Manowar. (one of the most epically written pieces of “toxic” masculinity ever)
Hardcore rape porn is the result of a toxically masculine society.
Wrong. Seth Stephens-Davidowitz pulled data from one of the most popular adult websites. Porn featuring violence against women is far more popular among women than men.

Who do you think was reading and watching 50 Shades of Grey? Heck, look at the lyrics to WAP.

This! 1000% this.

I don’t get what is worse about this song, than My Neck, My Back (Lick It) by Khia or P---- by Rammstein or just about anything by The Pretty Reckless (pretty much every song involves sex, drugs or religion and frequently all three.) but in terms of this forum either Going Down or Kill Me. The lack of logic of what gets attacked and what doesn’t frankly baffles me, consistency is a good thing people!

If you want to make this a Trump thing we can run through all the things said and promoted by the disgusting celebrities he hangs out with.

Trash and shock have been a way for the untalented to gain followers for a long time. Porn does not need talent.

Talent has been the way I have tried to steer my children as they were growing up, even if the lifestyle of the talented was lacking, at least the music itself could attract for the sake of music - Santana, Eddie, Jimi, and great vocalists, like Steve Tyler, Freddie Mercury, Roger Daltry.

So far, growing up on quality, musicians like Cardi never were even considered worth listening to. Besides, if you teach boys to value women, they will have no use for those who de-value them like this sick woman. It is a tribute to the hypocrisy of the entertainment industry that she is not attacked with all the ferocity of the men who have abused power in sexually harassing women. This woman is as bad as any I have seen. I predict there will be girls sexually assaulted by boys who are fed on this particular song.
