Why would a straight person leave the Catholic Church over our teaching on gay marriage?

I think birth control is wrong and pretty unhealthy as well. I do not practice it.

Snap accusing someone of racism because of facts is race baiting. Sorry to inform you.

You were singling out an ethnic group for no discernible reason. You’re not the victim here.

Why do you think black women in NYC have a higher abortion rate than birth rate? NYC is a very secular progressive city. Shouldn’t the local govt have helped them keep their children? Why aren’t progressive policies working there?

I wonder what Margaret Sanger would think about the disproportionate amount of black babies being aborted.

e said because the Catholic Church is against gay marriage. She is a straight married woman with kids. Why would a straight married woman care so much about the church not accepting gay marriage? Do you think she is secretly a lesbian? It does not make sense to me why a straight person would leave the church over that.

Did she really believe in God in the first place? Or does she worship gay people and wants?
Most likely because she was more faithful to her political beliefs than she was to the beliefs of her religion. This happens on both sides of the political spectrum. If you place your political party before the Catholic Church, you will most likely not be a good Catholic.

However, at least she was honest and left. I have respect for that, it’s much better than those who do not believe what the Church teaches and stay simply to try to change the Church.

God bless

Hmmm…I guess if you want to use the seamless garment stuff but nah…the democratic party liberal political ideology pretty much lays waste to life teachings of Jesus as shown in the five Catholic non negotiables. Throw in gender ideology and suppression of religious liberty (anti Catholicism) and it certainly points to being more prevelant in the liberal agenda.

The stat singled out black women. Should we only talk about good things? I’d say its a pretty awful occurance and we probably should find out why its happening.

Nobody was talking about it until you brought it up. Not sure what you’re trying to prove.

No you had said that liberals put political party over church teaching. Conservatives have been known to do it too. It’s a human flaw, not a left or right ideology one

My coworker used to be Catholic. When i asked why she no longer goes to church, she said because the Catholic Church is against gay marriage. She is a straight married woman with kids. Why would a straight married woman care so much about the church not accepting gay marriage?
I would suggest that St. Paul provided us with an answer (but not necessarily the entire answer) to this question in his second letter to Timothy:
For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own likings, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander into myths. (2 Timothy 4:3-4)

Yes my post was in regards to the topic at hand. Feel free to start a thread that shows where many conservatives leave the Catholic Church over a teaching of Jesus.

And I still hold that the problem of placing more importance on political ideology over the teachings of Jesus is much more prevelant with liberals.

Monica83:
Where on Earth do you live? In all Western countries birth rate is below population sustainability…in Europe-well below.
The population in the US is not exactly decreasing. Between July 1, 2014 and July 1, 2017, the population increased from 318.56 million to 325.15 million or 6.59 million in three years. If we’re worried about population sustainability, there’s always immigration, isn’t there?

And where I live in California, the population has increased from 15.72 million in 1960 (I was born in 1961) to 39.54 million last year. The population in California is projected to reach 50 million by 2050. That means that cities are becoming much more crowded than what they used to be. Water, in particular, is becoming a problem. The water supply will have to be increased to meet the rising demands both for people and for agriculture, but the ability to do this is limited.
The US population is still growing due to immigration. Since approx 2010, the US fertility rate has been below replacement levels

Plus, California (like Florida, Arizona, etc.) is one of those states where people are still moving to from other states.

God Bless

Irrelevant to the point I made.

I said Pew Research shows people do leave the RCC over birth control teaching. What you do has nothing to do with that stat, actually.
Snap accusing someone of racism because of facts is race baiting. Sorry to inform you.
What I said was it was a borderline racist comment, and it was.

Um…the data is from a NYC govt report. Facts aren’t racist, Pup. I’m sorry you don’t like them. I don’t like the stat for another reason. Because it means secular progressive policies are failing black women and would fail immigrants as well.

Your comment initially provided no backing, no quote, no stat. Just that black women in NYC abort more babies than they birth. No support, nothing. So I said that’s borderline racist.

Never called you a racist - just said that comment was borderline.

May I ask that you take this conversation to a new thread? It’s derailing from the OP.
