Probably; and so were the followers of John the Baptist.
yep…the difference is, Joe and James Jones were false prophets followed by people who swear up and down just like you do, about the Holy Spirit.

John the Baptist was of the Real God, not the lds god.

mathonihan,

according to the mormon faith, when a man reaches godhood, how does the world to which he is god get created and from what?
In Mormonism to be deified, or becoming God (equivalent to your theosis), means that one is “saved,” or exalted. That means that he achieves salvation in the highest order in the celestial kingdom of God. It is simply a doctrine of salvation. You have to be “deified” in order to be saved. There is no such thing as “the world to which he is god”. That is not what it means to be exalted, or be deified.

You will be surprised to know that there are no serious contradictions between them.
I have read them. There are major contradictions. Glad you can pick the one that best fits your belief.

Catholic alter their lives based on the Scriptures.

It appears Mormons alter their scriptures based on their lives

Believing for the sake of belief is not a reason! I don’t think you understand what reason is.

Rationalizing is not reasoning.

“Don’t need to walk around in circles
Walk around in circles, walk around in circles”
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Rom. 10:17)

No “reason” is required; or the faith itself is the reason. The witness of the Spirit becomes the reason.

So in other words, God needs to conform us,not vice versa. :dts: No good!

What does true mean? Science has proven that the Book of Mormon is NOT what Joseph Smith said it was; therefore Joseph Smith lied. How is the Book of Mormon true for you?
There is no “science” that can “prove” the Book of Mormon false. But the truth of it can be known by the power of the Holy Ghost.

The Holy Ghost is the third member of the Godhead, or what you call the Trinity. He is a “personage of Spirit,” according to Mormon teachings. He can “dwell” in us, inspire us, empower us, teach us, give us revelation, comfort us, testify to us, and lead us to all truth.
That is somewhat of how Catholics view the Holy Spirit although we view the Trinity differently than Mormons.

Aaaaah…not exactly. Here is where many non-Catholics believe no “reason” is involved or ever needed.

I beg to differ. Many ex-Mormons will tell you otherwise. From they tell me: ALL LIES!

I think the mistake you are making is that you are chopping it into small pieces. Viewed as an organic whole, the entire passage taken together tends to support my claim.
No it doesn’t for the reasons I gave, I addressed it piece by piece, because you chopped it into small pieces by bolding certain bits. On the whole there are 4 pieces that you cited as supporting your claimed definition. Of those, two don’t support your position, 1 directly contradicts it and 1 could be seen as supporting your point. So with 3 out of 4 points not supporting your claim the organic whole taken together is against your point.

Can’t prove a negative. What we CAN show is that nothing in the Book of Mormon has ever been corroberated by non-lds scientists, geographers, archaeologists, or any other “ists”.,

there you go again with “THE first vision”. There is no such thing. You have already admitted you took one of the versions that best fits what you want believe and use that one…
There are no serious contradictions between the different accounts.

You didn’t answer my question. Science has proven that the Book of Mormon is NOT what Joseph Smith said it was; therefore Joseph Smith lied.

How is the Book of Mormon true for you?

Reason is the capacity for consciously making sense of things, applying logic, for establishing and verifying facts.
That is one possible meaning of “reason”. A more general meaning is simply justification for action or belief. Here are some definitions form the Free Dictionary:

  1. *]The basis or motive for an action, decision, or conviction. See Usage Notes at because, why.
*]A declaration made to explain or justify action, decision, or conviction: inquired about her reason for leaving.
*]An underlying fact or cause that provides logical sense for a premise or occurrence: There is reason to believe that the accused did not commit this crime.
*]The capacity for logical, rational, and analytic thought; intelligence.
    *]Good judgment; sound sense.
*]A normal mental state; sanity: He has lost his reason.
*]Logic A premise, usually the minor premise, of an argument.

See definition number 1. My justification for belief and action is the testimony of the Holy Ghost that it is true. That is my “reason”.

Why does have it to be “serious” to be acknowledged as having contradictions? Major or minor…there exists contradictions.

BTW: Prophets do not have false visions by God. OT prophets were not liars!

You are entitled to your opinion, obviously; but I disagree.
