just to clarify: there are 13 million Mormons, not 60 million. šŸ‘
The Mormon church claims 13 million, but there are really only about 4.5 million who self-identify as LDS. Most of those are in the Western U.S. Many of the supposed ā€œLDSā€ on the roles are those who were baptized but went inactive soon after and do not currently consider themselves to be LDS. Many of them attend other churches and now consider themselves members of those religions, not LDS. If they did not bother to go through the trouble of getting their names removed from the records of the LDS church, they will be on the LDS roles for 100 years or until the LDS church receives notice of their deaths.

Now Paul, every church can claim this problem. I never had my name removed from the catholic church as a mormon. Was I claimed by the catholic church as being catholic? How many latin american former catholics are born again christians? Does the catholic church still claim them if they did not have their name removed? And how many lutherans joined the lds church and never had their name removed from the lutheran membership roles…do the lutherans still claim those people as members? I think so.

You are a great example of a person who does not understand what they read. My posting was talking about the versatility of the 1.2 Billion catholics not the 60 Million Mormons. I know what is and is not with the mormon church but thanks for the comment. I was talking to someone, not you, about the other options they have within the holy catholic church.
I responded to Rebecca who claimed that mormons do not separate according to age. They do. Within the catholic church it would depend on the parish. All mormon churches have the same program according to the age of the members. If there is one young woman she is found a teacher for sunday and goes on young woman activities in other wards if possible. And she can be attending young men’s and young women’s events all over the state or country depending on where the mormon lives.

But you claimed that age was not a factor but singles and marriage was. They do separate by age. The lds church is a church that groups people into ages when it comes to special activities. In fact, there are many young adult actiivities and I can not join in them because I am too old. But I can join the singles of my age group for their activities. And of course, the lds church has events for all people depending on the ward or branch.
For crying out loud why me, I’m starting to think you are intentionally being stupid.

Jessup said he wanted to go to Mass with people his age.

The topic is about MASS, and SACRAMENT MEETING, which are not special activities, and which ARE separated by mormons according to being married or single . Thus, the name ā€œsingles wardā€.

Yes, there are special activities for singles, in both churches. If Jessup wanted this at his parish, and it is not there, as has already been suggested perhaps he could be the initiator.

Get it now?

A Catholic can register as a member of a parish that is not the closest one to his home. Many Catholics travel extra distances to attend mass with other family members, or simply because they prefer a different parish.

I am registered at a parish that is not the closest one to my home. I registered and attend there because after trying both parishes, I far prefered St. Callistus. My son attends St. Callistus to be with me, though it is a longer drive for him. This is perfectly okay in Catholicism.

Mormons have no such freedom.

Jake my friend; I have looked at some of the other parrishes in my diocess I’ve been to roughly 5 total, through out my county here. I have never seen anything in the bulletins; nor on the diocess web site for any kind of young adult services. As far as the liquer goes it is a public fair/raffel during the wurst festival.
Alchohol is the blood that destroys society and families and used to control 2/3rds of the population. If you are an ex mormon, I would suspect that you are familure with the ā€œwords of wisdomā€. What are your views on being Strait Edge?
(sXe) If your not familure sXe do a serach on youtube for starit edge and watch one of the documentarys.
Also Jake what part of the country are you from? I live in the Bible belt. (In central Floirda) I would suspect that if you are up north; the church probally has larger congrigations and real communities. I can say I really used to love being Catholic; but recent events in my life are leading me away from the church. I just don’t feel its going to give me any hope or completion anymore, that really makes me sad.
Code:
 Cheers and God bless, Jessup
PS it’s nice that everyone here can have a dignified discussion. šŸ˜›

Our parish has a service for young adults at 5 pm Sunday. There are also programs beyond Mass organized just for them.

You know, I have been noticing that I am making a lot of mistakes lately. Not just in this instance but in many others. I have to correct my posts quite often because I miss words in my post or I make some other mistake. I think that my mind is becoming tired of all the posting that I do. I may need to take it easy for awhile from discussion boards.

Or I need to read things more carefully and post at random every now and then. Something is amiss at the moment. šŸ™‚

Did you ever think of discerning if you are called to a religious life, or Priesthood?

Code:
  Rebecca, I wouldn't personally consider the preist hood myself;

But I have in occasion considered doing some kind of ministry work, weather it be youth ministry or volunteer somewhere ect. I think I understand the pratical sence of much of the gospal and how it applies to everday life. Often times I consider getting a major in Religious Studies.

 Cheers! Jessup

Commit to your Catholic faith. Tell your priest what you are considering. šŸ™‚

I live in Utah and yes I am aware of the words of wisdom by JS. Alcahol is not evil, glutiny is! Poeple die from abusing food, does that make food evil? NO! It is not the alcohol, but poeple that make somthing evil. I have grown up in a family with genreations of alcoholics and there lifes have not been harder than mine, infact some of them had it good compared and I have not abused alcohol and turned it into somthing bad. I live in Park City and we have a large congregation with a youth service at 5:30 in the evening on sundays. There are other youth groups in Salt Lake 30 minutes away from here also. You really should help motivate a youth group for the church! This could be a calling for you, so dont let intimidation prevent you from doing somthing about it!
