I and many of my protestant siblings Have recieved Christ and believe His name thus we are children of God born of God.

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

No Condemnation!!!
Oh, REALLY?
That’s not what the Bible has to say about people who were ONCe believers and fell away:

Romans 11:22
****
“See, then, the kindness and severity of God: severity toward those who fell, but God’s kindness to you, provided you remain in his kindness; otherwise you too will be cut off.”

Hebrews 10:26-27****
“If we sin deliberately after receiving knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains sacrifice for sins but a fearful prospect of judgment and a flaming fire that is going to consume the adversaries.”

2 Peter 2:26-27****
**For if they, having escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of (our) Lord and savior Jesus Christ, again become entangled and overcome by them, their last condition is worse than their first. **
**For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment handed down to them. **

I’M not trying to deny you anything. As a Protestant - YOU’VE done that yourself.

You are right about ONE thing in your post:
"What God has joined with Himself let NO MAN attempt to split!"

The Protestant Revolt was just that - an ecclesiastical divorce from the Body of Christ.
Again - Protestantism was born of divorce - that’s why you have perpetually splintering Protestant sects, constantly divorcing themselves from one another.

Matt.7:21
"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord
,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.
We seek God and Him Alone. God has joined us with Him yet you continue to deny we are His. He has given us His Spirit as a proof a gaurentee that we are His. We left out of her to be joined with Him thus making us the true Church of Christ. We have submitted to Him and are His thus in the day of judgement God will say well done my good and faithfull servant.

**For your information, I didn’t **start the Sabbath/Sunday issue - Richard Kastner did. I was defending the Christian position about the Lord’s Day being on Sunday.

I see you’re new here and don’t understand how things work yet. The Sabbath/Sunday topic IS relevant to this thread as it speaks to Church Authority.

Probably better if you minded your own business - or at least read the posts.
YOU ARE OUT OF LINE elvisman when you said "probably better if you minded your own business. How many times have you butted into others conversations and you have the gull to tell this person to MIND THEIR OWN BUSINESS. Such a good God fearing man you are. Using terminolgy like this is not helping the Catholics here on this forum. It just tells us that this is the way Catholics are, rude and insensitive.

No - the CHURCH has - and you ain’t part of it until you swallow your pride and come home.
I am home and part of the true Church of God. He has given Himself to us and we will not deny Him to please you.

But we have not fallen away
Why do you bear false witness?
Do you not fear God?

Thank you!!! I guess everyone else didn’t read this. Heaven is obtainable outside the Catholic Church
Well…let’s be clear. From my point of view, Heaven is a gift from God, given to those who would accept it, as is God’s grace. I was posting only to say that some of the comments on this page were tending towards the Feeneyist viewpoint, which could be considered one of a few modern day heresies (Fr. Feeney was excommunicated, but later brought back into the Church after dialogue with Church leadership). It is not my place to speak for God on whether salvation is possible outside of (or within for that matter) the Catholic Church. I am neither priest nor prelate. I know what I believe, and what what I have read of Church documents has taught.

That being said, those two points are by no means the only documents written on the subject. The fact is that the Holy Spirit is still working in the Church and in the world, and in my estimation, there is certainly legitimate diversity of opinion and belief. And (given that this discussion has been going on since at least the 14th century) I do not believe that it will ever be “settled law.” So, one should see the Grace of God in one’s life and in one’s faith community. I would encourage the Original Poster to stick with the Catholic Church, but to shop around some.

Still, Ronin, I am glad you found something helpful or interesting in what I had to say.

That is exactly where the problem lies.
Because our definition of the One True Church is different than his definition, he will never agree that we are in Christ unless he tolerates the definition.
I tried to tell him, but right now it has no use.
However we know that we are the Lord’s and that should be more important to us than somebody’s opinion… we can pray for him and that is what I do. It’s a lot more charitable than getting upset over his comments and it is a lot easier on my soul to be honest. Let’s give God the glory, not our own ego.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

Your fellow servant in Christ,
Janet

Hi friend. Oh, such a warm and wonderful greeting for newcomer. Very sad.

Actually, I have a question for the original poster of the question, “Will I go to hell if I leave the Catholic church?”

Have you found your answer in this thread?

Welcome. I told him he was out of line in post 510 in your defence. Being new here I’ll let you know, most of the time the debates get real heated to say the least. There is at times name calling, belittling, and less then Christian like discussions. Believe me I have been called everything but a human. The threads from time to time go way off subject due to the debating and the way they try to prove their points. But all I can say is get used to it if you want to debate here. I hope this helps you to understand how things work. Once again welcome.

I thank you for taking the time to explain. My current priest approaches the subject of salvation outside the church in the same way as you explained. His big thing, is “Who are we to say what the limits of God’s grace are and to who it will be extended to”? He also, doesn’t constantly drive down my throat The Catholic Church is the one and only true church. Trust me, I address it the same way with him as I’m addressing it on this forum. In fact he told me he never goes to any forums that deal with the Catholic faith or any Christian faith. He said it causes more dissention then harmony thru Christ (I believe it). Which makes me wonder why I keep coming back here? May God Bless you and I hope you have a very Merry Christmas.

Ronin (Ed).🙂

Thank you sir. I appreciate your reply and your warm welcome.

In reading around this forum I have noticed the heated debates. My goodness. I hope to contribute in a healthy Christian manner and not add to the discord. (It’s going to be hard!)

Once again, thank you for your warm welcome.

Watch out its easy to get caught before you know it your doing the same thing and don’t realize it.

YES! I already realize that and at first caught myself writing unfriendly things! I am now trying to critique my responses by asking the question, “What Would Jesus Write?” before I hit the submit reply button. (Lord give me strength!) 🙂

If I can’t respond with kindness, than I can’t respond at all.

HUH??** Man, that’s convoluted thinking.**

First of all, Jesus was driving home the point that the Sabbath was NOT what was important but doing the will of God. The Apostles were being condemned by the Pharisees for gleaning grain on the Sabbath because they needed to eat. THAT’S why Jesus rebuked them.
So, you are saying when He says “The son of man is Lord of the Sabbath” that He is saying that the Sabbath is not important and that He the son of man is Lord over this unimportant day. And you call my reasoning convoluted. He was rebuking the Pharisees, But He was rebuking them for placing a burden on the Sabbath day that God had never intended. Luke 11:46 And he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.

As for Jesus calling it the Lord’s Day – that’s NOT what he said. He said, “… the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath” – which he IS**. He was telling them that he was Lord OVER ALL****. He NEVER called it the Lord’s day.**
What He said was Mark2:27And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
28Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

Look at it carefully. Because the Sabbath was made for man and the son of man (Jesus) is Lord of man, He is also Lord of the Sabbath. Which makes the Lord’s day the Sabbath. No way getting around it brother.

This is a reference to Gen2: 1Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

You see God doesn’t bless something for Himself He blesses it for us. Now do you really think that God needed to rest after He finished creating. Of coarse He didn’t. It says God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it. You have to remember that God had created man the day before this, so, the first thing that man does after he is created is rest with God. This scenario makes me think that there is more to this Sabbath rest than taking a nap Sabbath afternoon. Sure enough Isaiah 58:13If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:

14Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

The Sabbath was never meant to be a burden. It is a time for us to DELIGHT THYSELF IN THE LORD.
Peter spoke well of you when he said:

2 Peter 3:16
“In them there are some things hard to understand that the ignorant and unstable distort to their own destruction, just as they do the other scriptures.”
So, I take it by your little insult here that you wish to end our little discoarse. Right?

I very much want to quit the catholic church and become an
Assembly of God member. Am i doomed for hell?

I don’t fit in with the CC, there is no enthusiasm there.
No quite the opposite, leaving the RCC for Christ is a great thing

Look I said on my post that I tell them to do what their religion does. I preach both ways about baptism, infant and adult. Instead of questioning me about this you should be happy that someone is going to these people spreading the word of God.
It is indeed wonderful that you are spreading the word of God.

But I suppose the question is are you spreading the word of God as He intended? Is the word of God unclear as to how we are to attain salvation?

This is why I asked you is it infant baptism, adult or no baptism at all? When you spread the word of God, you are basing it on the Bible. If there is only one Bible then how there are all these options and you are not certain which one is the correct one?

So again I ask : Do you think that in something as important as the salvation aspect of Christian life, Christ would want us to muddle about in uncertainty, not knowing which way is the truth?

Is god really that careless about His plan that He doesn’t care whether we are on the right track or not so He does not give us clear instructions?
There are no Catholic priests doing it. I wonder why?
Catholic priests minister to Catholics. Protestants minister to protestants. Catholics minister in nursing homes. As a matter of fact, as far as I know they were the first ones to set these up. I myself used to volunteer in Catholic nursing home.

Show me where its says the catholic church in them words. You can’t. I’m sick and tired of hearing “we are the church the Jesus starter.” The protestant denominatins started 1500 later."
I posted a history of the church and a history of the Bible as well. I wonderf if you have had a chance to read that.
The one true church is Jesus, not any named church but Jesus Christ. Where do you get Jesus is the Catholic church when it just says Jesus is the Church.
Jesus is not the Church. Show me where in the Bible Jesus says he is the Church.

If Jesus is the Church then He would not have said “You are Peter and upon this rock I will build my church”. If He is the church there is no need to build a church because it is already built.

Besides Paul said Christ is the Head of the Church. The Church has also be referred to as the Bride of Christ. If He is the Church, then that means He is His own bride?
Can you see where your spin is leading you?

It is laudable that you are proclaiming the word of God but please proclaim the Word of God not your own spin on the word of God. Allow the Gospels to speaks for themselves.
Show me in the Bible where it say that Peter started the Catholic church, in them words.
Show me where we claim Peter started the Catholic Church? We never ever said that. We say that Jesus started the Catholic Church upon Peter. The history I posted showed you this continuity from the time of Peter and the Apostles.

I’m being judgmental! I do something that the priests DON’T do here and I’m being Judgmental. You have got to be kidding me. And by the way if you read these posts you will see that its judgmental on both sides especialy if your not Catholic. I said I go and preach to people in nursing homes and all I got was a rash of crud about it and got laid into about baptism. And I’m being judgmental. Someone does good for others and they get critized because of their denomination. And I’m being judgmental. Look in your own backyard.
I don’t think I have belittled your preaching to the people in the nursing homes. That is a wonderful ministry.

But don’t think that what you do and how you do it is the way that the proclamation of the word ought to be done.

The priest’s most important function is to celebrate the Mass. You will never understand the enormous significance of that until you become a Catholic, Our little efforts at spreading the word pale in comparison to the Mass.

And yes, priests go to nursing homes to celebrate Mass if there are Catholics there who need to go to mass. If they cannot attend mass, then someone can bring them communion, the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
