Does she think she sets a good example for other
Catholics - a role model?
Apparently the 80-85% who routinely vote for her in her district don’t have a problem with her, her kids, or her enviable wealth for that matter.
I wonder how many are Catholic.

Your take on these opinion statements is odd. Do they mean there will be no debates?
I mean just what I said.

I think Joe’s advisers want him out of that spotlight to save him from public failure.

Here it is again . . .

It is odd that this thread exists given that there are already 2 ot 3 debates scheduled.

Yes but so what? That doesn’t matter if his handl ah, er advisers want him off the hook?
Then I gave examples of a couple of major media outlets proverbially greasing the wheels to extricate Joe from this situation.

Here those are again too. . . .
“Let’s Scrap the Presidential Debates,” headlined a New York Times opinion piece Monday.

“Biden better walk back any offers to debate Trump,” pushed the Boston Herald.

I’d love to see a debate. Sit back with some popcorn and just enjoy the show.

It becomes easy after a while to box persons in with neat little axiom’s with names such as “radical left”…“socialist”…as if these can characterize what is happening right now within one of the biggest civil rights movements since the 60’s.

There’s so much more at the root of the problem, a problem that has been systemic, much more than at the helm of this country right now. No True “leader” that stands up to say, “we hear you, come let us reason, let us talk and discuss your problems that are real to you, therefore they are real to all of us”…Because we are a nation and no man is an Island that stands alone.

Even the Catholic Church is referred to at the “Body of Christ”…no rugged individualism there.

Within the Body of Christ each member has Her place, with the least of them given all the more honor, Hence “preferential treatment for the poor” was elevated as Church teaching.

Our worry about things that can be replaced have overshadowed the callous deaths of members of HIs Body.

Utter shame with the defense of ignorance at all costs to wear the flag of “freedom” without concern about your brother is your crown and you wear it well.

I don’t think the debates matter at this point,
You on another thread have said it is written in stone that there will be debates, not to worry.

Now the debates do not matter. Yes they do and there should be 4 debates which is customary for each presidential cycle. There are 3 for the presidential candidates and one for the vice presidential candidates.

It’s July 31st. Last I heard was the first debate is going to be in Cleveland because of the coronavirus causing it to not be at Notre Dame on Sept 29th.
It’s normally September. And, again, why are you assuming that Biden is not able to debate Trump?
And there is no evidence that it isn’t going to happen, so why the impatience?

The debates don’t matter to those who want to keep Joe Biden hidden in his basement until the election is over.🤨
This whole scenario is surreal, that this poor man who clearly has issues is being thrust into the political limelight because he is all the Dems have.Sad

Both candidates say they want to debate. I suspect neither really does. Biden is leading, and has a gaffe-history that may give his staff pause. Trump’s last several unscripted public appearances have not gone well. Both want it to seem like they are anxious to engage. I doubt either actually want to.

Yes, I do not think that debates will matter but I do think they will happen. I think they are useless personally as they get reduced to one or two soundbites instead of an analysis of the full 90 minute discussion. They are reported like a sporting event.
Whether anyone thinks they matter, they take place during every election cycle so voters can hear what the candidates policies are. It is important so that voters know who they are voting for. I am glad you stand firm on the fact they should and will take place.

Trump says he is looking forward to the debates. I have not heard Biden comment.

I can’t remember a specific statement from him, but he did agree to three debates and his surrogates certainly say he is eager to debate.
