I will probably buy multiple copies. I wil put one in the lending library at church and a copy to lend out to family and friends who couldn’t be bothered to go see it.
Not too much doubt about that. The movie has already made over $600 million worldwide and estimates are that it will cross the $1 Billion mark by year end. Rather astounding for a subtitled movie about Jesus, no?I do what I can to make sure Mel and the people associated with the movie get some money off of this. Money talks and if they make money off of this they will hopefully produce more positive movies.
It’s being released August 31. They have been taking pre-orders since June 1. I have pre-ordered a DVD, and have recommended that my daughters also purchase either the VHS or the DVD version. It will also available in Spanish on that same date.Does anyone know when this will be released for sale as DVD?

Consuela, if you feel comfortable I would love to hear of your experience. I know it is a very personal thing, so I understand if you can’t.It was immediately after seeing The Passion of the Christ that I had the most moving, unbelievable, life changing experience. It brought me back to the Church after 25 years! …
I’m not sure about that. I keep hearing that a cure for cancer isn’t that far in the future.Although I hope Hollywood will learn something from that, I also hope for world peace and a cure for cancer (about as equally likely).
Somewhere I heard that you will be able to turn off the subtitling on the DVD if you choose, but I don’t think that came from an authoritative source so it may be inaccurate. It would be a nice feature to have. After the third or fourth time you really don’t need the subtitles anymore even if you don’t speak the languages. Turning them off would allow the imagery to stand alone and for me would make the movie far more meditative.I will be buying a DVD. My wife and son declined to see it on the big screen, but look forward to viewing on the small screen.
Is anyone else hoping there will be a subtitleless feature?
I am always interested in Christians of any denomination who see no benefit in meditating on the Passion of Jesus. Without the cross, there is no glory; without the cross, there is no crown.I saw the movie and thought it was well done but as an Eastern Catholic I do not really see a place for this in my spirituality which is based more on the Resurrection of Christ than it is on the suffering and Crucifixion.
And with out the Resurrection there would be no reason for the Passion.I am always interested in Christians of any denomination who see no benefit in meditating on the Passion of Jesus. Without the cross, there is no glory; without the cross, there is no crown.
Actually, I was the first no vote. And for a long time, the only no vote. I’m not afraid to say why, I just never bothered.Well… I answered the poll, actually I believe I was the first No vote.
I now see a total of 3 no votes but do not see any posts by them…
I wonder if they fear to reply.

I might normally say me to, but having seen the movie I will buy the DVD.I much prefer reading to watching movies when it comes to pondering things about God.
