In the name of Allah , Most Gracious, Most Merciful

How many years the Catholic Churches hide those crimes ? Protected those Priests ?
They did. And one day would have been too long. More often they listened to psychiatrists who told the Bishops that they priests could be cured with psychotherapy. We know now that that was only wishful thinking. People who are sexually attracted to children can never be trusted around children.
It’s false, I think, to assume that the abuse wasn’t addressed at all, though. Many families opted for cash payments instead of prosecuting the priest. Often this was the settlement because the family wanted to protect the child. A court case would be tough on the kid, and word would get out that he was molested. Back then, many would assume that the child was a homosexual.
And speaking of that, though it wasn’t right, many of the priests molested older boys. These were kids in their late teens-early 20’s who were homosexuals. Others had affairs with young women. None of this is right–not by any measure–and I am a vocal critic of the priests and those who tried to hide it. I mention it only to point out that the numbers that are genearlly bandied about are over-inflated. The abuse by the priests in those cases was, of course, wrong, but they weren’t pedophiles. When most people talk about abusive priests, they think that the number reflects the number of priests who molested young children. This isn’t true, yet the headlines usually read “Pedophile Priests”. They need to make money, and sensational headlines sell papers. So Catholics are no strangers to what the press does. You are preaching to the choir.
Also, many accusations have turned out to have no merit. People see dollar signs, and they’re willing to trash anyone to get some of it. Yet, most people never read that the priest was cleared. Or if they do, they forget. All they remember is that the man was accused.
As I said in an earlier post, Catholics very vocally condemned the priests and those who protected them. Groups were formed, and they met with church officials to address this problem - to make up for the crimes of the past and to find ways to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
The priests and even those who hid them didn’t claim that these crimes were in the name of Christ, that Christ would approve, that Church law allowed this.
They were breaking Church law, not praciticing it.
Why is that so hard for you to understand? Are you intentionally being thick-headed because you can’t admit that an Islamist is commiting a crime in the name of Allah?
Why are Muslims silent? Where are the Muslim grassroots groups that will meet with Muslim leaders to stop these crimes commited in the name of Allah.
neither do Islam.
Media mentions name of the religion only when the culprit is a Muslim. Can u imagine , any Imam is caught raping kids inside the holy Macca or Madina , how the media will bash Islam then ?
About abusing of women , God told men : And they (women) have rights similar to those (of men) over them in kindness…) (Al-Baqarah 2: 228)
( And live with them (wives) in fairness.) (An-Nisaa’ 4: 19)
Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) is the ideal Muslim . Once he was angry with all his wives , instead of beating them, he went to the mosque & stayed there for few nights. He never shouted at his wives , no question of beating wives in public .
related info:
the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) emphasized the rights of women in many of his sayings which are probably more than the sayings emphasizing the rights of a husband. Some examples are quoted here:
- The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The best people from among you are those who are best to their wives.”(At-Tirmidhi)
- Also, he said, “No Muslim should hate his Muslim wife. If he dislikes some of her qualities, he may find some other qualities that are agreeable.” (Muslim)
- And, he said, “Adhere to my advice about woman that you should treat them fairly.” (At-Tirmidhi)
These examples are sufficient to reveal the great concern the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had for the rights of women, so much so that he dedicated a substantial portion of his last sermon at the time of the Farewell Pilgrimage to explain, elaborate and emphasize the obligations of a man towards his wife.
