I predict that the 30 minute commercial that will air on every swinging channel in the universe tonight will be the most annoying ever.

Let’s see…those ones about the women getting pregnant for german engineering-ugh, no. I love the car, hate the commercial.

Then there’s the girls gone wild commercials-they SICKEN me. I just change the channel. And the male enhancement commercials-where they keep referring to that “certain male part of the body” We all know what it is, okay? ugh.

In a decent society those ads would NEVER air.

Fadda Mitch told a cautionary tale today in his EWTN homily about Imperialist Russia. Let’s hope that doesn’t have to happen to this country.

I think the Rhutan boom ads are pretty funny: the object of derision is clearly the self-righteous supermodel [played with deadpan accuracy by Brooke Sheilds], not the expectant mothers.

It turns two trusims back on themselves: first, makes it cool to be a mom in a mini-van instead of a punishment, and skewers the oh so sincere celeb getting involved in socio/political issues about which they know nothing.

I hate those “Male Enhancement” commercials. It makes other men feel small, and I find that sad. 😦

When I get married, I’ll love my husband!.. No matter what his size. 😉

Ironically Yours, Blade and Blood

the “Safe by zeeeroo” commerical(MOST ANNOYING COMMERCIAL EVER!!!) and any taco bell commercials. they’re atrocheous. i automatically hit the MUTE button or turn it.

any mcdonalds commercials

We mute that “cheese will keep us together” commercial, and the one for Tide with the chirpy woman who interrupts her guests’ dinner to wash the table cloth when someone accidentally drops something on it.

The new guitar hero commercial with the woman playing guitar hero in a dress shirt and underwear (a la the movie Risky Business).

It gives me the creeps. You can’t even see the underwear, just tan, toned legs sticking out from under the shirt. She has to be wearing bikini briefs at most. I still wouldn’t like it but they could have put her in boxer shorts. I don’t know if it runs before 9pm or not. I hope not, for the sake of preteen boys and their changing bodies.

Hello,
I beleive most of you are Americans? In the UK we had ‘Heinz mayonnaisegate’! There was an advery fro Heinz ‘new york deli style mayo’. The joke was there was a mother making sandwiches for her husband and kids, using the mayo. In there eyes, she was transformed to a male new york deli man, with the new york accent and all that. She, who was, as I say, portayed as a man, kissed her husband at the end.

Some people were outraged at this gay kiss; it was not a portrayal of a gay dometic scene, as many mistakenly thought, as the man was really a wife (you still with me? Ha ha!) but it was undeniably a kiss between to men. So there was complaints, and it got banned.

Then, lots of people complained about the fact it had been banned, because this was perceived as disrespectful of gay people and relationships (personally I think Heinz where just responding to public opinions, as a profit seeking business is want to do, rather than holding any personal values). There protests were well supported, but the ad remained off air. Some even boycotted Heinz products at this point.

A third wave felt angered that people had complained about the banning…to be honest I feel it all got a bit silly. Whatever it’s content, and people’s view on this, it was just an advert, I think really the amount of energy spent worrying about this ad (and ther was a LOT from both sides!) could have been used muc h better else where!

My husband still remembers the “Heinz means beans” commercial where they mispronounce “Heinz” to rhyme with “beans.”

If he has to buy ketchup, he always says, “Heinz mines bines,” to help himself remember the ketchup. 😛

Icannot stnad:
  • German engineering and babies (That’s Brooke Shields for crying out loud!).
  • freecreditreport.com. Has this clown never heard of filing an identity theft police report? No. Saving and paying cash? No. Waiting to marry and then living in a small place, perhaps explaining in a letter to a prospective mortgage company regarding ONE bad credit card before marriage? No. Getting a second job instead of sitting in his in-law’s basement singing songs to aggravate his wife? No. Seeing what’s on freecycle.com instead of whining about an old bike? No. He deserves whatever he gets, he and his posse, in my opinion.
  • But the one that really gripes my buns is the synchronized swimmers who represent a package of birth control pills, women will use Nuva-Ring. SUNDAY, MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY, FRIDAY, SATURDAY EVERY DAYYYYY…

The Axe commercials where girls are tackling the guy who uses Axe cologne body wash, cologne, etc. Now they have new ones out that claim Axe makes you “as irresistible as chocolate”.

For sheer weirdness: two Marriott Residence Inn ads: in one a woman does acrobatics in the kitchen, in the other she returns to her suite, removes her blouse and does a Cirque du Soleil thing hanging from the drapes.

I agree about the Residence inn commercials being weird. The male enhancement commercials are definately awful (especially the one with Bob and his smiling wife). I am about played out on the Geico caveman commercials as well. I will say most of the worst commercials are the local business commercials in deifferent areas. We have some where they can’t afford actors so they use the owners and some of the employees trying to sing and act.

People have already mentioned Bob and his natural male enhancement.

There are commercials here for some phone dating site that feature women talking about how they are going on a “hot date” with the phone while they speak in a cheesy sultry voice. They are pretty obnoxious.

Used car salesmen. Ugh.

This might be local only. Cricket (the phone company) has these commercials that feature three guys and about six girls. After everything one of the guys says about the phones, one of the girls says “Cricket, Baby” and winks.

I also hate any commercial for anything squicky like yeast infection medicine or even some more descriptive tampon commercials.

There is a commercial out, that I’ve seen a couple of times. It’s some type of pharmaceutical, there is a woman in the commercial that is in a silhouette, and her face is obscured. The entire time

it’s really odd, why can’t we see her face?

Also there is a series of commercials out for Silk Soy Milk that feature various women, standing next to a container of soy milk, claiming how great it is. They seem way to overly enthusiastic about soy milk. (maybe it’s just me)

This is a local commercial but everybody (in the US anyway) has probably seen the like.

Some poor schmo lamenting to a friend, “We took the insurance company’s offer. Now I still can’t work, Lisa’s holding down two jobs and we still can’t make ends meet.” [sigh] “We should have called Sue M. All and Partners.”
This followed by a voice-over extolling the firms skill and experience at personal injury law.

Shouldn’t the last line of the guy’s lament be “We should have called a lawyer”? And then the voice-over pushing Sue M. All? After all, if he was too dopey to get an attorney, it seems unlikely that he’s suddenly an expert on which firm is best.
