Worst commercials

The free credit report.com ones are bad. I never could figure out why his bad credit landed him at the seafood restaurant. I know some employers check your credit and all, but I doubt that his credit would be so bad that he’d have to take a job at a seafood restaurant. Anywho, about the commercials with Flo, I have to say I really love them.

I am totally crushing on her. So cute 😃

Also there is a series of commercials out for Silk Soy Milk that feature various women, standing next to a container of soy milk, claiming how great it is. They seem way to overly enthusiastic about soy milk. (maybe it’s just me)
Maybe they’re lactose intolerant. You should have heard my best friend and me when we discovered the soy ice cream at Trader Joe’s. :o

If I never see/hear that Nuvaring birth control commercial with the synchronized swimmers again, it will be too soon. GAAHH I hate that commercial.

I find all commercials for “intimate” products annoying, whether feminine hygiene or Viagra but the worst is one for (how to put this?) an aid to female solitary sin that fits on one’s fingertip.
One ad in this category that is sort of cute is for the His & Hers K-Y with a married couple trying for a little romance before the kids get home.

Another that I hate is for an Alzheimer’s medication – the evidence that Grandpa needs medical treatment? – he calls his g’daughter by the wrong name. My father used to call me by all three of my brother’s names before he got it right and I’ve often called my son by my brother’s name. Come on. folks, you’ll have to do better than that before I’ll talk to my doctor about your undoubtedly expensive medicine.

Any other nominees?

OH! Almost forgot – birth control commercials, nova ring (yechh!), patches, &c, &c. Once they finish listing the side effects I figure that if I were a woman I’d just get an aluminum bat to clobber any guy who got too close. Side effects may include fractured ribs and skulls – for him.
Definately the birth control ones, especially when watching shows on TLC about large familes. That’s an insult!
Watching the new Burger King commercials with the awful music and the Simon and Garfunkel parody is like listening to fingernails scratch chalkboard.
The mascot is the worst idea ever, too.

Re: the poster who hated commercials that are a zillion times louder than the actual show –

If you want to learn more about how commercials work, there’s a Chesterton fan/Catholic blogger named Dr. Thursday who used to work for a local cable company. He is gradually posting a novel called Joe the Control Room Guy, which includes all kinds of fascinating facts about cable. (Yeah, I love Tom Clancy, too.)

Anyway, it explains stuff like how the cable company runs different commercials in different areas at the same time, how infomercials work, and stuff like that. It also turns out that the control room guys at cable companies are supposed to equalize the sound levels so the commercials DON’T blare out at you, but I guess most companies don’t bother.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled annoying commercials.

Mine are still the Sonic commercials with the several pair of idiots acting like morons. And also the AT&T Commercial that the one guy is all crying cause his friend likes AT&T better than him. Just those two are enough to make a person nuts.

I hate the condom commerical where a little kid is at the grocery store and starts screaming because he can’t get what he wants.

I hate it for two reasons: 1) It makes kids look like problems instead of human persons, 2) It is the top “best commerical ever” on YouTube.

I really don’t care for any of the Chik-fil-a commercials. Those cows are awfully obtrusive. Especially the one where they’re turning on the office lights. Boring, and stupid.

Though, I do like the idea of cows advertising for Chik-fil-a, it’d be better if such ads were on billboards and not playing through my television every commercial break.

Had to share this one: I worked in a dental office and I had my own room to work on patients. We had flat screen TVs for patients to watch while we were working on them. I had an adult male in the chair and a Cialis (sex enhancement) commercial was playing. TALK ABOUT AWKWARD! I was trying so hard to find some conversation to something else.

ALSO, I HATE the ones with the babies that they animate their mouths like they are talking like adults. They give the the creeps!

Had to come out of moderator stealth mode to agree those are the worst! The one with the baby talking to his cell phone in the middle of his commercial message gets my blood boiling.

It bothers me so bad! I have to look away or change the channel, I don’t know if I have a phobia or what. It’s just too weird.
Does anybody remember the Edy’s ice cream baby that got up and danced like James Brown? I’ve been disturbed by it ever since.

Liz

Eww… like the e-trade baby? Not just creepy… gross!

Do they really think watching a baby puke is going to make people WANT to use their product or service?

Has anyone mentioned the recent Wendy’s commercial for their chicken sandwich? It’s the one where the balding guy can’t seem to remember what his chicken sandwich tasted like. The conversation between the balding guy and Wendy (on the bag  ) is so out of sync that it makes the actors look like really bad actors.

I hate all the etrade baby commercials except one-the one where he used his extra money to hire a clown, and “really underestimated the creepiness factor” 😛

Another one I hate, the “I’m a PC, I’m a Mac” commercials apple does. They just annoy me…

I laughed at that one, too. 🙂

I find those ones funny. 😛

Oh Oh Oh don’t get me started –

The Walmart commercials indicating they are now a “green” company. Rolling fields and sunsets and all. Yeah uh huh, WHATEVER WALMART.

Any Carl’s Jr commercial showing people eating.

On the radio I’ve been bombarded with a dating site for married people – who want to have an affair.

The Lyesol commercials that show all the bacteria your filthy little children leave around the house and the only way to beat it is to buy lyesol products. Yeah that one cheese me. Like they zone in to the micro level and show all the germs.

The toe fungus commercials, although I think those have stopped. Thank goodness.

Oh but the one that kicked my butt, the one that made me wake up from a deep sleep and say “huh WHA’?” was an infomercial from Dean Graziosi about Real Estate – and all I could hear was a woman talking, but they kept calling her “Dean.”

Yeah, looks like Dean is a Deanna…no wait, was a Deanna.

deangraziosi.com/

Oh and here is a funny website I found that finally announced it – oh no the site is down, Dean might have threatened a lawsuit!

OK here ya go, here’s some info –

The link to the lizandlaura blog is at the top but it’s down. 😦

A local commercial for a number you can call to talk to “hot local chicks” the video shows one on the phone but the rest is all girls out on the town with equally good-looking guys.
Well, DUH! There’s a clue. Somehow I don’t think any girl who isn’t in desperate straits is waiting for calls from guys who can’t get a woman to talk to him without giving a credit card number first.

The whole thing is offensive and sad at the same time.

I agree - the whole thing seems stupid and dangerous from both points of view.

I also hate feminine hygiene product commercials - we all know what they are, we all go to the drug store to buy them. Anyone who doesn’t know about them must live in a cave… and if you live in a cave you can’t be watching TV.
How ever does Osama keep up with Current events? Al Jezera Journal?
I think it goes without saying that *everyone * hates the Head On commercials, and I agree, but, the ABSOLUTE WORST COMMERCIAL currently airing is the Mirena IUC commercials.
In case they don’t air where you live, with a background including a home, three children and a loving husband (I hope), there is a woman saying:
The commercial continues with a short explanation of how it works, and thankfully at the end it says it can be removed if you decide to have another child.
The first time I saw it, I thought it was such a nice, “feel good” commercial until it got to the phrase, "ut if your plans don’t include another baby…" and I was horrified. Basically, the commercial is showing all the wonderful things that can happen in a woman’s life - except a baby.
How sad. How very sad.

That one made me very, very, very angry.

I cannot stand the commercials for Jared Jewelers (“He went to Jared!”) Ugh! That tagline makes me want to scream! It’s like the only or main reason the man is any good is because he patronized this particular jeweler!

On the other hand, the commercials for Kay Jewelers always get me misty-eyed. I thought they couldn’t top the Christmas one with the couple choosing a tree, but their latest one–a young couple walking along, the young man taking the young lady to visit places where they had special memories (“This is where we went on our first date. This is where we had our first kiss”), then taking her to a park bench–She: “I don’t remember this place.” He: “You will.” and he opens the box with the engagement ring and the commercial ends with her saying, “This is where I said, ‘Yes’!” :bighanky:

So I like sappy, sentimental commercials… something the Jared ones are not!

I like that one too. My son (age 7) saw it with me and said, “I’m going to buy a ring like that for my wife one day.”
