Let’s see - from poor memory -

In the year 2525
If man is still alive
If woman can survive
we may find…

Anybody remember the next verse?

You know what we’ve completely neglected to slaughter in our walk down memory lane? Has anybody listed any doo-wop songs?? There were some really BAD doo-wop songs…

Ooh, ooh! I got another one:

Zager and Evans’ “In the Year 2525”, taken from one of the variety shows at the time:
youtube.com/watch?v=izQB2-Kmiic

Not only is the song stupid and extremely depressing (at face value), but the lead singer(s) sound(s) really, really whiny.
Yeah re ‘In the Year 2525’…could we get anymore melodramatic?
“You’ll get your sons, get your daughters, too
From the bottom of a long black tube, whoah whoah…”

Heyy----ain’t some people doin’ that already?

Ahem…er…

I actually like that song…

(ducks and covers)

Actually it’s not the singing or the lyrics, but I do like the music. I like that start especially, with the trumpet and guitar…reminds me a bit of corrida/spaghetti western music.

On a side note, y’all should invest in Dave Barry’s Book of Bad Songs". Many of your (non-)faves are in there, along with DB’s usual dry commentary. It’s a hoot.

There’s even a chapter on misheard lyrics like:

“Since she put me down, there’s been owls puking in my bed…” (“Help Me, Rhonda”)

“They told me he was bad…
But I knew he was sad…
That’s why I fell for the Leader of Iraq”

tough call…bridge over troubled waters …glorified the drug culture…but then again…In the ghetto…was a rotten song that pushed losers …Lennons Imagine, the ode to athietism will probably be the new world orders national anthem! One I recall was Pardre…a line in that one was ‘no matter what we do God says I forgive!..come again? on the Ghetto song.I used to play in my communications class as its postive opposite…“Patches” this was a song where in the young man lost his daddy also…wanted to quit school but his momma warned…no you dont finish school that was your daddies strictest rule’ and the song ended on a positive note.

There’s a line in the Phil Collins song ‘That’s All’ that I misunderstood for years. The line was “Livin’ with you’s just-a puttin’ me through it all-a the time.” I thought he was singing “Livin’ with you’s just a pretty mean phooey all-a the time.” Well, I actually went into a record store to buy the album, couldn’t remember the title of the song and so I asked the sales guy for the album with the song that had “Livin with you is a pretty mean phooey…” He did finally get up off the floor and stopped laughing hysterically. Still, I think the line’s pretty appropos for lots of situations!

:rotfl:

That’s a pretty good one! My wife still gives me a hard time because I always thought that Aretha Franklin song “Natural Woman” was “Man for a Woman.” I wasn’t entirely sure how a woman could “feel like a man for a woman”, but then again, I’ve heard more confusing lyrics, too. :o

Might make a good thread topic - “Song lines we REALLY misunderstood”… like ‘Round John Virgin’
from Silent Night…

mmm…well definately anything by 50 cent or Nelly!!! both honestly have no clue what they are singing about!!!
i especially hate 50 cent - candy shop!!! so bad!!!
well…it is since im an advocate of REAL/TRUE hiphop. and i only appreciate the old school style of the genre…🙂

mm…but ther is one other song that i really dont like which i think is an 80s track which is pop - video killed the radiostar! i have no clue who it is by - but it is sure annoying!

The worst song ever?

In my opinion, John Lennon’s ‘God’ would fit that. Someone should make a (clean) parody of that one of these days…😃
