I’m very secure and I’m not serious about trivial matters. It’s the fact that you gave the impression that these trivial matters are serious that got me concerned.

Your stance on luck, fortune and fate tells me you have quite a journey ahead. To realise the false gods luck, fortune and fate are totally incompatible with Catholicism.

Your failure to read and discuss what I write, and instead interject your own “write your own words instead of hers” tells me that comprehension is a skill that can do with improvement.

Again, you play the what are your sources cry, yet fail consistently to answer my original query.
The finesse, good humor and gentleness in this…Perfect.

Yes I agree with her points but she forgot the scandal part.
So my hope is that in 3000 years time when the Yin yang philosophy has been completely integrated with Catholicism then there won’t be a scandal anymore then wearing the symbol would be no problem at all.

some ill advised distortion to any part of the doctrine can bring about bad consequences.
Agree. That’s why I said we need a st Thomas Aquinas equivalent to do this. The Holy Spirit will also be protecting the church from errors.

I don’t think Yin yang principle supports divorce.
Till death do them part. Divinely revealed and instituted by Our Lord Jesus Christ himself. The Orientals in a moment of crisis would come up with no short amount of philosophy to justify divorce.

Hey, please enlighten me: “Halal/Harram” what exactly is strictly forbidden in Taoism ?? [I haven’t studied Taoism yet, but after this thread what chance do I have but to make some research?!]

I think Aristotle would not say indissoluble marriage. But we are happy to incorporate his philosophical ideas into the church.

That’s what I’ve been saying if you read my posts. The yin yang principle and philosophy is not a religion and it is not Taoism.
Taoism is not the truth. Any other religion does not contain the complete truth. So no need to debate here.
I’m arguing for incorporating phisophy that will explain Catholic doctrines in a much richer way just like what Aquinas did with Greek philosophy.

There are still a lot of things in the church where the philosophy doesn’t explain things that well. Eg free will and predestination, hypostatic union, trinity, Real prescence etc. I know Greek philosophy has been used to try to explain this with accidents vs substance and person va nature. But it’s still quite hard to get around thinking about this. Perhaps the yin yang principle can help?

Actually, I find these doctrines plentifully explained as things are.
I’m happy for you! But lots of people still find them problematic. And if it can be made clearer by incorporating philosophy, why not?

So all their philosophy put together doesn’t make up for a shred of sound morality.
Of course I agree. The Greeks weren’t all that moral either but again we still have taken Aristotle ideas. My point is take what is good and leave the rest. But we shouldn’t throw everything out.

Thank you. That looks interesting. I’ve bookmarked your post to read later.

We’ve just agreed on that some people can use the Bible for divination purposes. How is the Bible different to tarot cards?
Just doing a quick read drive by. But didn’t we agree that’s an abuse of Sacred Scripture. It is in my book.

@discobot fortune
Should I prove to @blackfriar that I have no problems having fun with lucky charms or divination like discobot?

It’s been used as an oracle since the Chou dynasty. We know the Duke of Chou shore up the hexagrams by line and assigned meaning to them for divination.
So in ancient times people would consult the I Ching, get a hexagram or series thereof and have an answer for the question they were asking.

Yes Confucius was one of those touted as a main contributor to the I Ching. He came later and after him, it also took on the name and style as a book of wisdom. But the divination was a practice never dropped.
