I obviously refered to receiving under the species of the Blood.
no, you referred to how “they made the mode of reception a bit uh protestant.” There were times in Church history when the Laity received from the Chalice–that is my understanding. Long before there were protestants.
And as to your little quote down there, SSPX is in the same situation as before. They are still out side the door. Just that the door was unlocked. They still have to come in.
and as to your little quote up there, you certainly should be applauded, commended, respected and looked up to as a master of the whole Canonical situation. Yes you should!

All jokes aside, that is not something good at all. Sure they have made the mode of reception a bit uh protestant, but it is still a great benefit. I lament when priests discourage receiving twice in a day or under both species. Why? Explain yourselves?
They say that the Christ is found in the smallest of fragments of the host. Sure. And? Then they will tell you that canon 917 was not intended to encourage receiving Holy Communion twice.
DEAD WRONG! The law was put in by a pious Dominican priest who precisely wanted to extend a priveledge a priest has to the faithful. Plus Saint Peter Julian Eymard said that if the Church allowed us to receive 10 times, we should receive 10 times, because if one communion does wonders, 10 will do more.

What does it mean to receive more of the species? It means you have more time with Our Lord. If the host is small and disolves fast, that fast will be the time with Him. Plus, though not the most important, but a truly important thing is the sensibility. Sensible graces are special graces that help us practice virtue with incredible ease and flight. One thing is for an ordinary grace to help you row the boat. Another is for a powerful wind of grace to take you home. It is good for there to be sensibility. It was a great error to have made people think that mystical graces are special thing and that the ordinary way is asceticism. Wrong. That was a bad divide. Our Lady was totally mystical. In fact, She received the Anunciation just at the momment when She had contemplated exactly how the Messiah must be. For Her, it was all admiration full of mystical graces.
Now we can help make conditions for mystical graces. We can build beautiful churches, make the liturgy as close as possible to
the celestial liturgies and the sort. Don’t underestimate these things.
I wasn’t joking and it isn’t a bad thing. We can receive only the Precious Body. We don’t have to receive both. And I have a personal reason. One I’m not willing to share with you. You lost me anyway. What I said had nothing to do with receiving more then twice a day.🤷

You don’t have to share it with us, just so long as it’s a good reason  Now, can we please get back on topic?

Of course I don’t have to share it with you. I felt I had to respond to that persons response to my post. I am all for getting back on topic. And I apologize.

When your family has a favorite Saint that is talked to often enough to be a tangible member of the household.

IE:
“Anyone see the remote?”
“No, St Anthony has it.”

This is interesting and funny … and though DH and I belong to a parish that ONLY does the Novus Ordo, at a university no less, we still - along many of the friends we have - do all these things! So just remember that not all of us who don’t wear mantillas and do the Latin are cafeteria Catholics :D.

We live in the South, and you should see the faces when we cross ourselves and say grace in a restaurant. I got told, twice, on Ash Wednesday, by my students, that I had “a smudge” on my forehead. I thanked them, explained it, and wondered how many students thought the same thing and didn’t tell me!

In another sense, though, this thread reminds me of good, pious practices - like crossing myself when I hear an ambulance.

You know you’re a traditional Catholic male if you’ve ever pondered what name you would take if you were elected Pope (and have changed your mind about this most pressing issue)
Not going to lie I have done this…first it was Peter…then i thought about St. Malachy…another sign you are a Traditonal Catholic…and changed it to Gregorius…

You know you are a traditonal catholic when you watch Star Wars and they say “May the Force be with you,” and you mutter et cum spiritu tuo under your breath

You know you are a TC when you cross yourself after the pledge of allegiance in apublic school…more than once.

This actually happened to me too just a couple of months ago. I had to restrain myself from a strong urge to genuflect before entering the row of seats at the movie theater. Maybe it was because it was going to see “Doubt,” so I was feeling extra Catholic. I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one 😉
sorry to go off topic but what should Catholics feel towrds that movie? boycott it, view it and then try to discuss the problem? Is it anti-catholic?

You’re the only one bowing his head during part of the creed at an OF mass (it could also be argued this makes you the only functionally literate person there, too 🙂
I really don’t understand this…

The OF’ers are happy to make the “back 'atcha” “and also with you” gesture, and the orans/holding hands Our father… but when it comes to a gesture the Church actually COMMANDS us to perform its just me and the 80 year old lady in the front pew…

So true at my church . . .🤷

You know you are Traditional when you greet your pastor as Father Smith and not Father Larry??? Yes ,No.

Again you know your a traditional Catholic when you enter church and wonder where the Pulpit is.

I think this has more to do with the priest, altar servers, and those training the altar servers. I am a convert, and was never told to bow at that point. We were just told to basically follow everyone else. It wasn’t until my son went through altar server training that I learned about it. I have been doing it every since. Now, it is in the missal, but who really reads that part of the missal? I mean, once you know the words, there is no reason to do that. We are blessed in that our priest and all of the altar servers do bow their heads at this point. Now, not everyone does it, but they are a great example of what we should do. So, if your priest doesn’t do it, then how would you realize that you were supposed to if no one had ever told you to?

Even before you converted, you were occasionally accused of being ‘too Catholic’. Now, you hear that comment on a regular basis. You take it as a compliment.
When the ‘conservative’ views you as ‘radical’, ‘modern’, or ‘fundamentalist’. (Which all seem to be synonyms nowadays). Sometimes they unfortunately do not realize that what seems to be modern is actually something old. 😃 There is nothing new under the sun. :tanning:

Hang on. I’m a fairly died-in-the-wool OF-er, I bow my head during the creed. I couldn’t tell you if anyone else does because … d’uh, my head is bowed! Although I know that EVERYONE genuflects on those feasts in the OF when this is done during the creed, so you never know …

So anyway, the question is if YOU are bowing as you should, then how do you know if others are or aren’t? 🤷

Hmm… maybe its just my parish then.

I know because as soon as I come back up I get that, “what the heck did you just do” sideways glance from the people next to me.

We Australians tend to be a slightly different breed - at least to the point where we don’t usually give people the stinkeye in church. 😉

…when all your religious debates are over objects, rites, organizations, and issues that mystify a Protestant and make him go directly to Wikipedia!

(Honestly, I can’t convert now, and I’m better informed than some of my Prot confreres! For lots of us, it’s all one can do to figure out exactly what a “creed” is, much less how it goes, when it’s coming, what language to memorize it in, or what’s wrong to do with it–or is that “during it”? And to go by this thread, that’s the least of one’s potential faux pas that could draw a Trad’s ire. I’ve gotten a good idea for a Traditionalist slogan, though, if it’s needed: what’s Latin for “Start in the cradle or don’t start”?)
