Is the portrait with Mary and Jesus in the background of Joseph? It’s a lovely portrait! ❤️

The Holy Ghost Chapel is part of the Catholic National Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham .

This mosaic was made by Anna Wyner in 1988 and is called “Descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost - Our Lady in the midst of the Apostles”.

Today 9th June is Pentecost Sunday.

It was in this chapel that I first came across Cardinal Mercier’s Prayer to the Holy Spirit .

He said :

“” I am going to reveal to you a secret of sanctity and happiness. For five minutes every day quieten your imagination, close your eyes to everything visible and your ears to all external sounds and withdraw into the sanctuary of your baptised soul which is the temple of the Holy Spirit. There, speak to the Holy Spirit and say:

O Holy Spirit
soul of my soul
I adore you.
Enlighten
guide,
strengthen and console me.

Tell me what I ought to do
and command me to do it.
I promise to submit to everything
that you ask of me
and to accept all
that you allow to happen to me.
Just show me what is your will.

If you do this, your life will be happy and serene. Even in the midst of troubles you will experience great consolation, for grace will be given to strengthen and help you to cope with every difficulty.""

Sacred Heart in Blackpool is where I almost got locked in (with a big chain and padlock ) after Mass once. I had stayed to say a prayer and take some photos. Fortunately the priest realized I was still in there, otherwise I’d have been spending the night.

Not a real church, this “old west” church is part of the western movie set at the Peter Strauss Ranch in the Santa Monica Mountains. Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman used to film there, along with other TV shows and movies. While most of the town sets, like the jail and sheriff’s office, burned down in our recent wild fires, the church survived 🙂

Chapel St.Gildas in France where I think someone misread “On this rock I will build my church .”

The Chapel marks the site where St. Gildas, an Irish monk, preached Christianity to a local, mainly pagan population during the 6th century. St. Gildas and his fellow monk Bieuzy, are said to have lived in a cave at the base of the rock where the chapel now stands.

I read recently where Spain finally issued a building permit for that magnificent church, and just 137 years after construction on it first began 😁.

Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Christchurch, New Zealand. A huge and beautiful building. During a terrible earthquake in 2011 it was semi destroyed and the Diocese of Christchurch is deciding its fate.

Las Lajas Sanctuary ( Santuario de Las Lajas ) is arguably considered the most beautiful church in Colombia. It’s also considered by many to be one of the most beautiful churches in the world.

Las Lajas Sanctuary is a minor basilica church located in Ipiales, which is located in the southern Colombian Department of Nariño. The church sits on a 130 feet tall bridge over the Guáitara river.
