St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in the Pico-Union neighborhood of Los Angeles. Built in 1903, it was enlarged in 1924, and restored after a fire in 1999.

This church is built into the hillside on which it perches. One of the reasons the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg has survived as an independent state for a thousand years against such powerful neighbours as Germany and France, is that the area is eminently fortifiable .

The national competition, launched by the Catholic Church in Uruguay and the Society of Architects of Uruguay, was to design a small church on the River Plate coast, near Colonia, Uruguay.

This was won by Lambrechts-Bertinat Architects. The project was completed in December 2006.

This church was already mentioned earlier in this thread, but I was just there yesterday so here are a few of my photos. The Mission San Gabriel Archangel was founded in 1771, the first church in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, and the pride of the California Missions. The walls are original, over 240 years old, and have survived earthquakes and periods of neglect. The roof has had to replaced several times. That’s St. Junipero Serra’s statue in front of the old church.

Perhaps one of the most remarkable sights in France, a chapel perched on a volcanic plug. This is the Rock of Aiguilhe, on the edge of the town of Puy en Velay, in the Auvergne. The Chapelle Saint-Michel has stood there for 1042 years, since Bishop Gothescalk had it built in 962 on his return from a pilgrimage to Santiago del Compostella in Galicia. In 1955 workers found relics under the alter that had been there since it was built.

I just had to post another picture of my church! This time during the celebration of Corpus Christi! How I love my church! It is the oldest Catholic church in our city! (Dating back to 1875)

The church and holy well of St Just, St Just-in-Roseland, Cornwall. The present church was dedicated in 1261 and built on the site of a 6th century Celtic chapel. Local legend says that St Joseph of Arimathea brought the boy Jesus here on a Cornish tin trading expedition. The church and holy well are situated on a tidal creek of the River Fal.

In honor of St. Benedict’s Feast Day today, this church looks interesting: St. Benedict’s Painted Church in South Kona, Hawaii. Built in 1880, the unique interior painting was started by a Belgian priest, Father Jean Berchmans Velghe.

It looks like an old military quonset hut behind a pretty church false front. But very nice inside 👍
