In addition to the relics of St. Blaise in the Vodnjan Parish church, there are 370 more relics of 250 different saints kept. In addition to the thorn from the crown of Jesus, a piece of the veil of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a part of the cross of Christ, and many others, special attention is drawn to the completely preserved bodies or parts of the bodies of St. Sebastian, st. Barbara, st. Mary of Egypt, st. Leon Bemba, st. John Olin and St. Nikoloz Bursa. Bodies lie in parish church of St. Blaise for centuries, not embalmed or hermetically sealed.

I thought I would be able to see these this summer in person, but it appears those plans won’t materialize. These were sent to me from Dornbirn, Austria

The cathedral is regarded as being architecturally very significant - I myself quite like it and when I get to visit Bristol this will be high on my list of priorities.

It is meant to incorporate features of St Peter’s Basilica in Rome.

It’s a beautiful church.

Thank you so much for posting this ! The Reformed parish for which I’m as yet still working has a church which used to be dedicated to Saint Blaise, before the Reformation. I often think of him.

I am glad to hear that! St. Blaise is very venerated here! We have also one church dedicated to him in Zagreb.
I will post it later.

How can eye that has seen the light fall in love with darkness again? st. Blaise said that sentence to Roman prefect Agricola when he tortured him to leave christian faith.
