Why is it prohibited? Also what does that Latin inscription say?

There’s a popular Greek Catholic hymn to St. Nicholas but I can’t post it.

I actually don’t know why it’s prohibited. If I had to make a guess it would be because so many people go there specifically to pray and climb the Holy Stairs on their knees, and they want to preserve the privacy of that kind of experience.

The Feast of Pentecost at the Orthodox Church in Smyshlyaevka, Russia. The Feast focuses as much on the Holy Spirit’s work in Creation as it does on the Spirit’s work in the Church. The Church is decorated in green. In Russian tradition, branches of birch are brought into the Church; fresh green grass is placed on the floor; flowers are everywhere.

Yes. Most churches just put a small tree or two inside, in a large pot. Here is Jordanville Monastery on Pentecost:

Haha - it follows traditional Cathedral layout but uses Military colors/theme 😎

Some of my ancestors, like my great-grandmother, were baptized and married in this church. The family later moved to New Orleans.

Editing – sorry, couldn’t work the technology. Pix didn’t upload. I’ll try again…
