Do you mean to say that Christ has no choice but to give you peace in your persistence to homosexuality?Yes. Who is anyone to deny me the peace of Christ despite a weakness?

I mean Christ accepts me as I am even though others may not.Do you mean to say that Christ has no choice but to give you peace in your persistence to homosexuality?
Ha ha ha! Let’s give you the benefit of the doubt. You said, “against/opposes means hate”, and that you quoted this from my post #250. I read again post#250, and nowhere did it appear there. I really don’t know how you quoted me. Anyway, that’s telling about you.Perhaps you should read the post you were replying to with that lovely quote.
But I guess that you will find a way to side step that as well.
How sure are you that Christ accepted you with your homosexuality?I mean Christ accepts me as I am even though others may not.
It’s time to say goodbye to you again. I will now proceed to put you on my ignore list. How sure are you that Christ accepted you with your homosexuality?
Did you forget that the Church is the body of Christ? And that the Church teaches that “disordered sexual desire” is lust? And that lust is sin?
That’s ok with me. Good bye then! Have a nice rest…God Bless! It’s time to say goodbye to you again. I will now proceed to put you on my ignore list.
agangbern you do not speak as a catholic on this subject. You speak as a bigot. I think you should take some time to read the CCC on the subject under discussion. How sure are you that Christ accepted you with your homosexuality?

You want us to be judging each other here?agangbern you do not speak as a catholic on this subject. You speak as a bigot. I think you should take some time to read the CCC on the subject under discussion.
Are you catholic?
agangbern,You want us to be judging each other here?
If you have something to disprove my statements, you should do it and let us see how it would go.
goofyjim is following the Catechism…that’s what Catholics do. He has to control his “disordered sexual desire” just as we are called to control our sexual desires for someone other than our spouse. His inclination to a particular sin is no different than anyone’s inclination to a particular sin. It is a “trial” and he has to “unite [the difficulties he may encounter] to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross”Chastity and homosexuality

Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,141 tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered."142 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.
2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.
Do you always answer a question with another question? You want us to be judging each other here?
If you have something to disprove my statements, you should do it and let us see how it would go.
Thanks for the quote from the CCC. That’s how we should handle discussions like this. No judging. Just present proofs to support a claim or to disprove another.agangbern,
Please read through the teaching of the Catechism.

You seem too quick in making generalizations. That is dangerous attitude. I am a Catholic. And what does it matter to you?Do you always answer a question with another question?
I repeat, do you claim to be catholic?![]()
You are incorrect agangbern. The church does NOT teach that ‘disordered sexual desire’ is lust. How sure are you that Christ accepted you with your homosexuality?
Did you forget that the Church is the body of Christ? And that the Church teaches that “disordered sexual desire” is lust? And that lust is sin?
It matters because you are preaching incorrect catholic teaching while claiming to be a catholic. You seem too quick in making generalizations. That is dangerous attitude. I am a Catholic. And what does it matter to you?
The quotes from the CCC on homosexuality call someone with this “disordered desire” to self-mastery. By saying “end their homosexuality,” you seem to mean their inclinination. Can you support that from the Catechism? I don’t think so. They have to end their homosexual acts and lustful thoughts, but that doesn’t mean they have to end their inclination. The inclination is the trial mentioned. You and I have trials as well. We are called to self-mastery, just as someone with SSA.Thanks for the quote from the CCC. That’s how we should handle discussions like this. No judging. Just present proofs to support a claim or to disprove another.
I wonder which part of the CCC was I contrary to. The CCC is categorical, homosexuality is a big no in the church. It is true we must treat with kindness those who are suffering of that disordered sexual desire. We help them just as we try to help every other sinner who are striving to put the sin to death. But treating them kindly does not mean “ok, go on with your homosexuality, we understand your difficulties.” The point is: They must decide to end their homosexuality. And in their big decision, we are behind them to support them in their struggle.
The CCC says, “This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial.” Man himself is inclined to do evil. And what do you understand by "the virtue of self-mastery’? It is not simply rhetoric. When you self-master something, the inclination to do evil for example, you strive to stop or end doing evil. The same is true with the inclination to disordered sexual desire. By self-mastery, the homosexual should strive to stop the inclination to disordered sexual desire. We are called to self-mastery, just as someone with SSA.
By what authority do you say that my understanding of the quoted CCC is incorrect? Are you the Magesterium? It matters because you are preaching incorrect catholic teaching while claiming to be a catholic.
Goofyjim is in perfect harmony with the catholic teachings on homosexuality. And I for one admire his great sacrifice.![]()
No I’m not the Magesterium.By what authority do you say that my understanding of the quoted CCC is incorrect? Are you the Magesterium?
I find it most helpful when reading the CCC to read an entire section, rather than to pull out a single sentence or phrase. Oftentimes a single passage can be used to defend a personal opinion, while the whole section tends to very clearly spell out the teaching of the Church with great clarity. The CCC says, “This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial.”
