Firstly, please respect her gender by referring to her with proper pronouns. Reading through this thread, there seems to be a crippling deficit in understanding of gender, sexuality, and psychology/psychiatry.

1. This is definitely not child abuse. It is not like these parents are just randomly making the decision to allow their daughter to transition. Physicians and psychologists must perform in-depth assessments and other treatment methods, over a long period of time, before authorizing a physical transition. Remember, hormones are not just an over-the-counter drug; they are prescribed by a physician through recommendations of a team of healthcare providers.
2. Her same-sex parents have nothing to do with her gender identity. Plenty, I’d even venture to say most, transgender youth have opposite-sex parents and grow up in “heterosexual, cisgendger” households. There is absolutely no evidence suggesting any causation or correlation between the gender and sexuality of parents in relation to the gender identity of the child.
3. Transitioning genders, a social construct relative only to humans, is completely different from trying to change species. This is a simple point and if people can’t at least understand this, I have lost all hope in humanity.
4. The parents aren’t transitioning- the child is. If you have reason to believe that this child’s team of licensed healthcare providers are forcing hormones upon this child, for reasons other than the treatment of gender dysphoria and gender identity disorder (such as propaganda), then I strongly encourage you to report them to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
5. Yes, you must be 18 years old to vote, smoke, etc… but you can be any age to receive competent medical treatment. Gender dysphoria and gender identity disorder are legitimate conditions that require treatment.
6. Santi2: Your comment shows your complete ignorance regarding gender. Here’s the simple version: Gender is a social construct, it refers to the cultural and social gestures, attitudes, and characteristics assigned to a biological sex. Being a woman is not necessarily contingent upon the sex one was assigned at birth. Going off of your logic, a woman who does not have all of her reproductive organs or is sterile will always be wanting and is not a full woman.
7. This wouldn’t be done to a dog. You are anthropomorphizing dogs if you believe that they have gender.

Educate yourselves on gender identity. Don’t forget that these are people, made in the image and likeness of God, and deserve human dignity and compassion. I beg all of you to please model yourselves after Jesus and saints such as St. Francis of Assisi and Mother Theresa when dealing with people that stir up some deep seeded biases.

There is a distinction between sex and gender. As I said previously, sex is biological and gender is socially constructed. Sex refers to an alignment of sex chromosomes, sex determining genes, gonads, external genitilia, internal sex organs, sex steroid hormones, and secondary sex characteristics. Gender, on the other hand, refers to the gestures, attitudes, behaviors, and other characteristics associated with men and woman. Gender is fluid and has changed throughout time and place.

Does God choose to make children with cleft lip/palate, and then intend for them not to seek treatment?

I also would like to remind you that treating one’s child for a medical condition is very different from the concept of political correctness. And there is no evidence to suggest that her parent’s are confused.

Thank God, my parents didn’t run out, seeking someone to change my body, because I changed my mind at 15 and decided I really liked being a girl.

I’m sure that this boy’s “parents” aren’t confused. They have an “agenda.”

I wonder if this boy’s biological father has any say in this? Or was he dumb enough to donate his sperm to some bank having no idea where it would wind up?

Gender or sexual identity is not necessarily as simple as whether someone has XX or XY chromosomes. Many factors affect fetal development, and the epigenetics are not well understood. I don’t think anyone is in a position to say what God wants for an individual, other than that individual themself.

Sure. But isn’t that the point of the hormone treatment being offered? By deferring puberty, the child is given some additional years to make a decision before irreversible changes (either by testosterone or by estrogen) occur.

You have the right to believe that GID is not valid, and you can also believe that influenza is not valid. That’s your right, but GID and influenza will continue to be treated in both children and adults.

If you had been adopted by a man and a woman, they are your adoptive father and mother. You still, whether you ever met them or not, would have a biological father and a biological mother. Not two biological fathers or two biological mothers.

As for number two, I’m sure you are waiting to jump all over me with your superior knowledge of things that are not natural.

The criteria required for being a girl/female of the human species is that God, in Whom by your calling yourself a Catholic claim to believe in, created that baby in the womb of her biological mother a female.

There are physical medical issues that arise that leave some unfortunate people with genitalia of both genders, or with undistinguishable genitalia. However, this is not the claim with this boy.
