John 6 is all about eternal life.
Ok… I’ll play along. Jesus promised everlasting life to whosever believes on him.

Do any of these verses say anything about eating a wafer?

Jhn 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Jhn 5:24
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

Jhn 6:47
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

Explain more.
Your fathers did eat manna in the desert, and are dead. John 6:46.

This is the bread which cometh down from heaven; that if any man eat of it, he may not die.- John 6:47.

This bread which Jesus speaks of is that we must eat His flesh and drink his blood. This is the bread which cometh down from heaven; that if any man eat of it, he may not die. John 6:52

Amen, amen I say unto you: Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you. 55 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath everlasting life: and I will raise him up in the last day.- John 6:54-55.

Explanation:

**“Eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood”… To receive the body and blood of Christ, is a divine precept, insinuated in this text; which the faithful fulfil, though they receive but in one kind; because in one kind they receive both body and blood, which cannot be separated from each other. Hence, life eternal is here promised to the worthy receiving, though but in one kind. Ver. 52. If any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever; and the bread that I will give, is my flesh for the life of the world. Ver. 58. He that eateth me, the same also shall live by me. Ver. 59. He that eateth this bread, shall live for ever. **

So I guess you think that when Jesus said His body was true food and His blood was true drink that He was lying?

I guess you think all the early christians who thought that His body and blood were true food and true drink were liars, too?

How can anyone believe that their soul is in their own body and they cannot see it but when Jesus the Son of God says that the bread and wine are His body and blood they won’t believe Him?!

What’s harder to believe–that we have souls in our own bodies that can’t be seen or that Jesus can offer His body and blood in the bread and wine without them being seen?

If you don’t believe that Jesus is powerful enough to do that then you don’t really believe He is God and if at the same time you do believe in your own soul in your own body without it being seen all you are doing is worshipping your self!

I believe the flesh of Jesus is most definitely eternal life. But, it’s definitely not a wafer.

No

No

Because that is not what they think it teaches

I dont think either one is too hard to believe, But since you asked, I will take option A.
If you don’t believe that Jesus is powerful enough to do that then you don’t really believe He is God
Well then…
and if at the same time you do believe in your own soul in your own body without it being seen all you are doing is worshipping your self!
!
Well that was…unconvincing:rolleyes:

What does “no life in you” mean to you?
“No life in me” means the Holy Spirit is not dwelling within my soul.

I was infused with the Holy Spirit in Baptism (Jesus gave me Eternal Life - His Eternal Life - to dwell within me). When I am cleansed during the Sacrament of Penance, I gain again Eternal Life - and the Holy Spirit dwells within me. We Catholics calling this being infused with the Holy Spirit. I am also graced with Eternal Life everytime I worthily receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist, just as Jesus promised.

But, when I turn away from God, and I choose the sins of this world over His loving Grace, then my sins cause me to have no life in me, as I’ve lost this state of Grace.

Ok… I’ll play along. Jesus promised everlasting life to whosever believes on him.

OK, believers, What ALL does “believeth in me” include?

Does obedience have anything to do with “believeth-ing”?

That was my next point…

Jhn 6:54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

One of the conditions for the flesh of Jesus is eternal life. The Eucharist cannot promise eternal life. Therefore, it is not the flesh of Jesus and just a wafer.
You lost me there.

It means believing on Him… More specifically that Jesus went to the cross to pay our sin debt once and for all, He died, and was resurrected by the power of God. Believe and be baptized with the Holy Ghost which saves.

😛 I believeth you just made fun of the old english of the KJV
Guilty as charged, but certainly in the hopes that I didn’t offend anybody.

I just like to keep it light, so we don’t get mad at each other.

I don’t know… Why don’t you ask God? Those are His Words.

So our obedience has nothing to do with it?

What does Paul mean when he cites the “obedience of faith”.

You see, Catholics understand that “believing in Jeus” demands our faith and our obedience. Part of that obedience includes His command at the Last Supper.

“Do this in memory of me” or “as a memorial of me”? NO, it goes much deeper.

“Offer this up as a memorial sacrifice” (in Greek - “Touto poieite eis tan eman anamnesin.”") has a much more sacrificial overtone than

“eating a wafer” as you put it.

“No life in me” means the Holy Spirit is not dwelling within my soul.

Do you think it leaves?
