This going to do great harm to the pro-life movement. By tomorrow you will be seeing somber faced news anchors saying this murder was prompted by pro-life adherents opposotion top Kathleen Sebelius because of her connections with Tiller.
Well said.

I don’t think it will do as much harm to the pro-life movement as many people have said. God allows, NOT CREATES, evil so a greater good can come out of it. If this action scares other abortion loving doctors out of business saving thousands? Or it might ignite the pro-life movement into a frenzy? Abortion is losing popularity in this country anyway.

The idea that we may kill undesired people is the very mindset that gave us abortion in the first place.

What goes around comes around. The guy has got to answer for many deaths.
Live by the sword, die by it.
Certainly, you do not mean that?
Jesus told His Apostles that they have heard of the “eye for an eye” law, but I tell you “love your enemies.” Didn’t He?

I understands His words as to forget the old saying and to keep the new command -to love one another as He has loved us

Why to add more ammunition to the already troubled area? People can have peace, when they know peace.
Was His crucifixion a hoax?

I’m too disturbed with this news.

If you live by the sword you will die by the sword.

He made his living out of murder, he in turn, was murdered. He died like he lived.

That is all I said.

Whilst we never condone murder we are reminded that Christ himself said "Omnes enim, qui accéperint gládium, gládio períbunt" Mt26:52 *all that take the sword shall perish with the sword. *

We pray for the salvation of all involved.
That did come to my mind when I first read the headlines on this, too. It’s really sad that it ended this way. I really wish that he would have changed his ways like Dr. Bernard Nathanson. There is no way to condone this kind of vigilante justice, no matter how heinous his crimes against humanity.

I think you misunderstand the meaning of this passage. It is more of an observation than a condemnation. People who live a violent life, often die in a violent way. I see it as more of an observation than a directive. I don’t think anyone quoting this would mean that it was OK to kill him. I hope you can see the difference.

Correct. Could it be God’s chastisement to allow it to happen? Punishment? It wouldn’t be the first time He allowed/did such things.

It is losing popularity, but murder of an abortion doctor at his church will not help the cause. There are people who are lukewarm regarding life issues (e.g. opposed to abortion, but don’t quite see it as equivalent to murder). It would be great to attract such people to the pro-life movement. Murdering doesn’t attract people to anything.

Scaring other abortion doctors? Perhaps. Perhaps it will scare them enough that they call for government protection against “pro-life extremists” leading to a justification to ban people from protesting outside of clinics. 😦

Exactly. The current administration has been itching to find a reason to label pro-lifers as dangerous terrorists, and this vigilante shooter has just handed them one on a silver platter. 😦
i feel the same way. it is what makes me wonder of legit this is. IF the obama adminastration were willing to lie this would be the perfect setup to scapegoat prolifers, and all it took was 1 patsy to pull the trigger…

A stretch. That would be getting into the violation of the protesters rights though. You can’t ban protesting because someone might get harmed any more than you can ban guns because someone might get shot. You can’t punish the many because of the few.

He already targeted those who disagree with his views as terrorists anyway. Homeland Security anyone?

Um…people are already banning guns because someone might get shot. There are also “no protest zones” around abortion clinics in some states.

I realize you believe our rights are protected, but the reality is that they are eroding in many ways. My post was not “a stretch.”

Well, we know that God allows evil sometimes for a greater good. If we consider that He allowed it, then we have to wonder what greater good can come from the tragedy. I don’t mean to diminish the pain his family must be going through by saying this. Vigilante justice is never justified. But I do pray that some good will come from this act of violence, now that this is the reality that we are all faced with.

The only thought that came into my mind when I read the news was I hope God is more merciful to him than he was to all the unborn that he killed. Yes, this is not good for the pro-life cause, but I hope God will take this and turn it into some good in some way.

This will do nothing to help the pro-life movement. This has created a pro-choice martyr. I predict the media will do several days of in-depth analysis calling for a classification of pro-life groups as “terrorist” and asking for government security around abortion clinics to restrict protesters.

George Tiller will have someone step up and take the spotlight, glad to replace him and “risk his life” for the “cause”.

This is a terrible day for the pro-life movement.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have a shred of sympathy for George Tiller, his family, or the pathetic excuses for women who couldn’t be incovenienced by a disabled child and were too selfish to give their children up for adoption.

But murdering a murderer simply means you now share in the blood he has spilled. It is a tragedy.
