I’m not particularly upset about Mexican racism, though perhaps I should be more than I am. There is one aspect of it that really prevents me from getting too upset about it. It’s tied in closely with Mexicans’ reverence for Our Lady of Guadalupe. Part of her promise was to preserve “La Raza” when it seemed to Mexicans they were all going to die of disease. It gave them hope. My stars! Does nobody know the history of that?

I want to restate my point, though, because I think I made an error in typing.

What I meant to say was"

There’s a bit of a diffference there. Amazing how punctuation can change the meaning of a sentence. There’s a whole book on that – “eats shoots and leaves” means something very different from “eats, shoots and leaves.” 😁

My point being that I don’t think there’s anything inherently racist about, for example, a Polish-American benevolent assocation that gives financial aid to smart Polish-American kids for college, but organizations that claim to be for the benefit of “white people” are, in my experience, always racist.
 
I’ll be leaving after this, but I really did want to point out the identification of Our Lady of Guadalupe with “La Raza”. Again, I don’t resent it. I rather like it. It might be one of the reasons why Mexican immigrants (at least around here) tend to stay Catholic while the Central Americans don’t. “La Virgen” is part of their identity as a people, and so is the term “La Raza”.

I do, actually. When my father was ailing, I took him to Mass every Sunday at the nearest church, which was then Our Lady of Guadalupe, on 14th Street, in New York City. Later, he lost his ability to walk entirely, and the church was not wheelchair accessible, so I started driving him to my parish church in Brooklyn. But I did become familiar with the story of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

It should be noted that this apparition occurred in the 16th century, and obviously the meaning of words and phrases can change over the centuries. If the words “la raza” were uttered by Mary then to Juan Diego (and I don’t know if they were or weren’t, and I can’t read Spanish anyway), I don’t know what they would have meant to him. It is at least likely that they would have meant something different than they would to a present-day listener.

“And ye shall know them by their fruits” according to Jesus, and there’s ample evidence of what Trump’s “fruits” are, such as what Romney even chimed in on.
 
Trump’s racism should be clear as he continues his demeaning stereotyping of those seeking refuge in the U.S. Even during the election he stereotyped Mexicans. And then he stereotyped Africans living in “s**t-hole countries” and then asked why we aren’t attracting more people here that look like “Norwegians”. He has an anti-black history of racism along with his father, and Cohen says he used the “n-word” a lot behind closed doors.

And these are just a few of Trump’s “fruits”.
 
One should not use Jesus’ name improperly or to give offense. The Second Commandment forbids it. CCC 2146, 2162

Trump seems to be acting in accordance with teachings on Subsidiarity.

We continue to accept legit refugees, but the jobs that economic migrants were taking are being reserved for our citizens in need of work.

Economic migrants are not refugees.

I believe the more we restrict illegal economic migrants, the more room we will have in our hearts and policy for increase the number of legit refugees. First we need to contain the flow of illegal economic migrants though.

she may be comparing the plight of today’s migrants seeking asylum at the U.S. border to the experience of the Holy Family after the birth of Jesus, but Jesus wasn’t a refugee in the manger as she wants to portray. whether he was later isn’t the point. now if she left out the word manger…
 
This woman is a strong supporter of abortion-as-homicide and unholy matrimony.
