For every parent of a child,
Who worries when that child goes wild,
Take comfort that Saint Monica too,
Knows just what you’re going through,
Her son Augustine, who lost his way,
Is one of our greatest saints today,
And even he says he got there,
With the help of his mother’s constant prayer,
She worried, but things turned out great,
Our saint today for post seventy-eight.
👏 👏 👏

A great example of prayer, patience and hope. Never give up, for with God all things are possible.

Galaxy Quest is a better Star Trek movie than some of the actual Star Trek movies. 🙂

Augustine was a rebellious lad,
A brilliant mind Augustine had,
And then one day, he came around,
The gift of faith is what he’d found,
The end result of his long search,
He’s now a Doctor of the Church,
Our doctrines he would help define,
The saint today for post seventy-nine.

It is great that Saint Monica and Saint Augustine have their memorials back to back, a great sign of answered prayers and God’s love in the world around us.

Have a blessed day!

The Church asks that we now recall,
How John the Baptist gave his all,
He told King Herod to repent,
And for that, into jail he went,
Then foolish, wicked things were said,
And in the end, John lost his head,
He always said he must decrease,
And point us toward the Prince of Peace,
And so, the Forerunner’s task was done,
Today’s saint for post eighty-one.

This short poem greatly captures why we celebrate John the Baptist today. He dedicated his life to Christ, and pointed the way to him. In the end, he gave his life for and to Christ.

Have a blessed day!

Pammachius we honor with this day’s poem,
Roman senator and friend of St. Jerome,
St. Paula’s daughter Paulina was his wife,
When she died, he embraced the monastic life,
And then he made it his life’s chore,
To aid the sick and help the poor,
And so today, give him his due,
Today’s saint for post eighty-two.

Friend of a Saint and son-in-law of a Saint, he chose to help those less fortunate, and in doing so he became a Saint. So much to learn and to live from this.

Have a blessed day!

Saint Raymond Nonnatus had it rough as can be,
Born by C-section in the thirteenth century,
He devoted his life to setting slaves free,
And preaching our faith in a Muslim country,
For that, he was captured and nearly killed,
He escaped with his life, as God so willed,
And named a Cardinal while on his way home,
But he died before he could make it to Rome,
Now the patron saint of midwives is he,
And honored today with post eighty-three

Although he was tortured and suffered physically, he refused to stop sharing the Good News. Let us all also keep telling others about our Lord and Savior.

Have a blessed day!

Today is my son’s name day, though his name isn’t Raymond or Nonnatus. 😅

Even though he’s decided he’s not Catholic anymore, I think I’ll get him a gift to celebrate his Saint’s day. 💕 😊 💕

Today’s saint from our church’s files,
Is the Benedictine monk, Saint Giles,
He lived as a hermit for many a year,
His only companion there was a deer,
He saved that deer from a hunter’s bow,
And legends of miracles soon did grow,
He helped King Charlemagne confess,
And helps those crippled and under duress,
An awesome saint from days of yore,
I celebrate with post eighty-four.

Saint Giles was so determined to live a life completely dependent on God that God sent a deer to Giles to nourish him with her milk. From this a tradition developed that made him a patron of nursing mothers, and those suffering with breast cancer. Trust in God, just as Giles did.

Have a blessed Sunday.

Thanks for that info! Our principal is undergoing treatments for breast cancer right now, so I’ll remember to ask the intercession of St Giles. 💕

You are welcome. I will also say a prayer for your principal. :pray:t2:

Some time ago Chris did a poem for the Mudgies which I thought was rather good. 😁

I didn’t know he had more in him. 😠

That would explain why he’s been neglecting his duties as Capn’ of our ship ⛵. It’s difficult being multi-talented.

Greetings all, from Spring in Australia! 🌻🐨
